Slack Panther I 100% agree. I love metal but I was still pretty young when I got into the Bestie Boys but didn’t really appreciate hip hop like Wu Tang until a little later. I love seeing people cross over into enjoying other musical styles.
It’s such an angry and power poetic song about the dialogue and struggle between an addict and the addiction. It’s a disturbing mental image but they don’t sugar coat it and tell it to you real. Masterpiece.
Exactly like u said about the drug addiction. Its about how the singer (James Hetfield) was addicted to drugs and how it effected him mentally and physically
I'm an oldishhh Metalhead and it's so fun to see your reaction to Metallica. When you get taken away by the music and you're like Brooooooo lol and ya gotta do playbacks. Oh yeahhhh, we're all feelin it with ya Preston. Let the Metal wash over you ;)
Omg when he gets the mind blowns and goes hold up brooo i die laughing every time.. And us that know the songs know when he's about to experience it and we wait for that moment lol
Big props for delving into metal man. The genre will teach you patience, but the patience will be rewarded by the journey the music takes you on.....and oh btw, the "master" in this song is cocaine lol
I appreciate your love of Metallica, but slow waaaaay down. He hasn't even reached Dickinson, Dio, Halford, or Gillian yet. Hasn't even passed Mustaine.
You've done "One" and "Master", the next logical step is *"Fade to Black"* No use in slippin' into some of the filler. Stay with the Killer. Old school raw Metallica.
dang bro i just realized i been watching your vids with a bong after work for months now and i wasnt even subbed. you damn sure earned it. by the way, if anyone hasnt mentioned it yet, the song is about the perils of cocaine. ("chop your breakfast on a mirror") the solo was described as a ride where it starts off fun but gets more chaotic and mean as the addition grips you and then the beat changes and thats it. coke got you. and your screaming "master, master! wheres the dreams that ive been after?"
Your definitely a fan bro , nothing wrong with that..most metal songs have long intros and will bring you on a journey . Try FADE TO BLACK by Metallica ...make sure you do a lyric video
fade to black is my favourite song by them.. granted ive not listened to a huge amount of their stuff I like it but mainly like hip hop. my dad played loads of rock and roll to me as a kid
I love watching people get into Metallica. This is why they have been so successful for so long. Welcome to the world of Metallica my friend. They are the reason I picked up a guitar years ago. There are a whole lot of classics awaiting your ears. Cheers man. Keep up these Metallica reactions. Check out Rage Against The Machine if you haven't heard them. hip hop metal. Know Your Enemy. Good stuff.
I've listened to Hard Rock and Heavy Metal my entire life but I also used to listen to a lot of Rap in the late 90's / early 00's so you've become my favorite reaction channel hands down. Love seeing you experience all that old 50/Eminem/Dre/Tupac/Pun/Nas etc. and now I get to see you discover Metallica too? That's what's up! Check out Fade to Black and The Four Horseman next and maybe some live shows once you get familiar with their songs
Man i've listened to every metallica song so many times i know every millisecond off by heart, the things i would give to appreciate it for the 1st time again. I guess this will have to do haha
If you like changing beats in music check out “Orion” by Metallica. Its an instrumental, not one word in it but so worth it. It’s long and halfway through it changes completely but for the good. Check it
Right on, great content. I am now 66 years old and started listening to Jimi Hendrix at age 16 and haven’t looked back (but also grew up with Sam & Dave and later the Funkadelics). Cheers from Idaho, you have a new subscriber! KTF...
Some more metallica songs i think you would appreciate is Fade to black, Sad But True, Blackened and Welcome home (sanatarium). love the vid bro keep it up :D
You just listened to perhaps the greatest metal song ever written. Now do yourself a favor and check out more Metallica greats, like Fade To Black, Battery, Blackened, Creeping Death, Moth Into Flame, Spit Out the Bone, Dyers Eve, Ride the Lightning, and Disposable Heroes. You’ll thank me later.
You had me agreeing with you until you started lumping in songs from Hardwired lol You could have just said Metallica's first four albums and left it at that.
Lenny Criollo love all sorts of music and this guy feels this shit it's fun to watch someone who has never heard this stuff .. I remember having his reaction when it was my first time hearing it.
Heard every Metallica song a thousand times over, and yet they never get old. Watching you listen for the first time........ I'm jealous. Keep it going brother
You may never see this comment now that you are BLOWING UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP! But, this song is about drug addiction. Just throwing it out there.
Heroin actually... The 80's metal scene was full of heroin and people dying of it. Metallica has always a very anti drugs band (not anti alcohol though)
If not for "Paranoid", "Master of Puppets" is the greatest metal album of all time, IMHO. Definitely the best thrash album of all time. A true masterpiece, from start to finish. They recorded this when they were 23/24 years old. UN-FUCKING-REAL!!!!!
Absolutely love experiencing your first takes on metal/hard rock with you-4 me the 2nd time! I have always had a passion for rap/hh & metal/hr. Love to see someone discover what they've been missing!
Man, I have been watching you for hours and hours. You are awesome man. You deserve your own podcastt or something, man just by how long I've been listening!
Great job, bro! This song is considered the Holy Grail / Bible of metal/hard rock. This song influenced so many rock bands then and still does now. Thanks for the reaction!
Ray Martinez Sorry to burst your bubble, but I think that would be Black Sabbath's first album or the 2nd Paranoid. Ask anyone in Metallica, and they will agree.
Nah, some of that album has grown great with age (apart from the shitty snare tone) - songs such as *All Within My Hands* & *The Unnamed Feeling* are very good! Give them a listen in a few years or now if game, they are so good! Just try and ignore the bad snare sound.
I love seeing folk being brave enough to big-up AJFA.... it never got the love it deserved!... & sadly still just as relevant as ever. Now *that's* strong writing. Shame they took the bass guitar out of the mix entirely. I found a decent quality WAV of this ruclips.net/video/6kqTcLwUYj8/видео.html , burned it to a blank CD & threw the original CD away. #DontTellLarsTho LOL :)
Your enthusiasm is as contagious as it is hilarious. Makes me want to reset and listen to MoP for the first time all over again. Big fan, many of my friends are too. Cheers.
Ive watched this guys videos alot to know he has a great musical understanding and appreciation for amazing music. He doesn't just listen to the song like he says he engages it which only makes it better!
I remember being in 7th grade and putting this on the jukebox at the local pizza place. My parents always got weird looks from other people. But, we always got extra garlic knots from the owner who was an old school metal head. \m/ edit, can't spell.
As always, refreshingly genuine reactions man. I love how often I see this guy mentioning he will learn guitar one day in these older vids. He wasn't joking! He bought a guitar. Never give up your guitar journey man. It's overwhelming at first but stick with it. Just play it 10 mins every day and you'll be amazed how fluidly you can play stuff a year later
I can’t hear this and not think of my dear friend addicted to h, homeless in LA, our friends who’ve made it out, and those we’ve lost to their addictions - coke, speed, heroin, crack. It’s poetry - truth slap in the face. Thanks, Dude; today is the day I needed to hear this again. ✌🏼
I love your videos. As a 42 year old white dude that came up on Metallica, I reallllllly enjoy seeing your genuine appreciation for what they have done. Just the little stuff like "nope, sorry. Gotta back that up and hear it again." Reminds me of doing that with cassettes back in the day. I also smiled when you said this shit makes you want to learn guitar. Kirk Hammett was the reason I started playing when I was 10. Keep it up. Sub'd
When I have low energy, i put this song on. I'm a hippie from thr 70's. I love your reaction...these rock and roll songs held me together all these years. I love watching your reaction.
45 yrs old and yup as Preston would say I qualify as an " old head" and in 1985 I remember seeing this guy I knew listening to this song at a bus stop on a ghetto blaster and asked him who it was and went out and bought it about a day after and was hooked on metallica from that point on . Iove seeing this new generation validating the music me and my buddies loved in high school
Nice react as always! I've seen that you like Metallica transitions on their music! On this song, for me there's a special meaning behind the transition/ interlude between 5:28 - 7:50. Since this song is about drug addiction. This part can be interpreted as the user experience... After the user calls for his "master" (where he took the shoot, pay attention that is clear on that part that is the user claiming for the drug) he experience a moment of relief due to the drug effect and that's why the music slows down. But after a short period of time the effect of the drug starts to fade and that's why the beat starts to kick in again at 7:12 and end up with the user pissed off and going crazy at 7:49 (abstinence)... If that's not musicianship at it's highest leve, I don't know what else is.
Bro, I can't describe how good it makes me feel to share musical tastes. All reactions have been a positive vibe, that is comforting to know people of a color are open to new cultures. I really enjoy these reactions.
I just found your channel cause Reddit and watched this, One, and Bohemian Rhapsody. Watching you hear shit like this for the first time makes me feel like a kid again, and I’m sincerely jealous. Makes me realize I’d give anything to hear Metallica’s Black Album for the first time like it was all new again.
Found you in the recommended section of a Lost In Vegas video, watched a few of your reactions and definitely earned my sub. I know no one will see this, especially you Lol but in the chance you do, I'm really enjoying the content!
hey Preston..caught your "reactions" to Tool and Pink Floyd and now Metallica...and i too get them goosebumps and otherworldly feelings to most if not all of their music..melodic, hypnotic, chaotic ..the perfect trance..so glad you enjoyed what you heard... and yes, you definetly need to experience a Tool concert..will blow you away..i'll keep enjoying your reactions to the music, and you keep enjoying the sounds from these great bands..Cheerz & RockOn! \m/ \m/
This song has another level of meta when you realise it's about cocaine and heroin, and how thier friend who was a flatmate of James' died of an overdose, and 'chop your breakfast on a mirror' was something the dude used to say, regarding how he would snort a line of coke every morning - at the time wilfully unaware of the fact it was killing him, it was his master
As a metalhead who discovered a love for hip hop, it’s fun to see a hip hop head discover metal :)
Slack Panther same here, man.. been sleepin’ on hip-hop myself up until a year or two ago. Great seeing reactions bridging the gap the other way :)
Same, I can't get high without listening to Ocean Wisdom
Its the headbang right? Its with less authority and with more style.
Slack Panther I 100% agree. I love metal but I was still pretty young when I got into the Bestie Boys but didn’t really appreciate hip hop like Wu Tang until a little later. I love seeing people cross over into enjoying other musical styles.
My thoughts exactly. I wish 8 had video of me discovering Public Enemy when they teamed up with Anthrax.
Metallica is responsible for putting more guitars in 14 year old kids’ hands than Gibson. True story.
Bravo
I'll agree with this statement.
Metallica was the first metal band I heard and thats exactly what it did
Me too. But with Battery ( first song on Master of puppets ) ;)
Doubt
You are proof that music has no colour!
Loved watching you enjoy this masterpiece.
Howdytoons that's what I thought was awesome lol
Yes, you nailed it!
Howdytoons has music ever been about colour
Omg I was a kid when this came out. Love hearing you enjoying it.
Howdytoons 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 the holler into other room!
I just come here for the "Hold onnn Bruhhh"
Happened in the first minute lmfao
It’s such an angry and power poetic song about the dialogue and struggle between an addict and the addiction. It’s a disturbing mental image but they don’t sugar coat it and tell it to you real. Masterpiece.
You're exactly right.
Exactly like u said about the drug addiction. Its about how the singer (James Hetfield) was addicted to drugs and how it effected him mentally and physically

I was gonna say Blackened.
Mr. Vader's Cards and Games that's a great one too.
Battery is fucking awesome.
And it must be the live version, Seattle 1989
I've heard this song so many times and that switch up into the slower groove still gives me goosebumps ❤
Big props for delving into metal man. The genre will teach you patience, but the patience will be rewarded by the journey the music takes you on.....and oh btw, the "master" in this song is cocaine lol
Lol, as i read the comments it just reminds me of the awesomeness of old school Metallica. Too many amazing songs
It's such a pleasure watching you being exposed to this music for the first time, man!
I'm 43 been listening to this metal since 86 keep listening it will take over u
Hetfield's voice in this song is as good as any vocalist in the history of metal

@@killerseddie8295 My man, how could you forget about Kiske
@@killerseddie8295 Are you claiming Dave Mustaine can sing?
@@pierreo33 I said passed. I never said James could sing either. I do like Dave's vocals better, though.

@@lionelmax2953 pretty sure metal is a subgenre of rock technically speaking but ok
Kill Em All was the best, then they began to suck after the third album.
@@FlyAgaric525 let me remind you that even experts say that AND JUSTICE FOR ALL is their most technical album and i also agree on that

Really? Well TIL. I've known this song over a decade now lol.
Ivan who did you think master of puppets was?
"Chop your breakfast on a mirror" should really give it away.
For his first exposure to Gojira I will suggest some of the old stuff, Either Rememberance, Clone etc
it was made for a Nightmare on Elm St soundtrack. Freddy is the master of puppets
