I was planning to go to Japan last year with mates but never got past the planning stage. Mate decided to buy a car and I decided to buy a house. Will definitely go there in the future.
Thanks for this video! I just returned from Tokyo, had one day of free time from an organized tour so this video was extremely helpful. I concur your observations (visited both Leonard's, TamTam, yellow submarine hobby base, Tamiya, Sunnys and Lab1 dept store). For me the highlights were Leonard LG and Sunnys. My holy grail was hobbycraft 1/48 Avro Arrow from Leonard LG for $32CAD !!! Came home with 7 kits and needed to buy another luggage LOL
The luggage saved me. I travel light so could not bring much home.
Great recap Rich - I visited the Tamiya Plamodel Factory back in October and I was honestly disappointed. Like you said - it's just a plain old retail shop. I don't know what I was expecting but there wasn't anything "special" about it.
The HQ in Shizuoka City is where the cool stuff is. This is just a retail store and not really worth buying anything there.
Hey Richie - good to see you back Happy New year as well, nice wee video, thanks for sharing, regards Liam
You’re welcome. Have a great weekend.
koon beans sounds like a nice time keep them coming
Hi Richie, I went to Tokyo last year and did some of those shops, shame you missed LG imo it was a better version of ET with more current stuff as well, I ended up carting 2 x Tamiya 1/32 kits (F15 & F16) back as only £45 each!
I also visited a big outlet in that district with maybe 5 floors, more commercial with all sorts of stuff including paints and tools etc, can’t recall its name but think it’s the parent company that owns zoukei mura as they had a whole floor with all the new stuff coming etc
I was also in Korea and checked out a few shops there but nothing like the Tokyo outlets
Absolutely loved it in both countries!
Yeah LG was closed up for New Year. Tbh Tokyo was so-so, but North Vietnam was amazing.
I’ll be in Tokyo this August. Are you permitted to give price examples? I’m looking to buy about a dozen 1/32 scale aircraft-Tamiya and Academy.
Plaza Japan.com would give you an idea of price. But for me it was luggage space and to FedEx them home, I might as well just buy online.
@@RWHobbies thanks for the info. If Plaza Japan is an indicator, I’m probably going to buy two dozen! Wow! I’ll be bringing two suitcases-large ones!
