  • In my recent trip to Tokyo, I made a video guide with some tips on all my favorite model train shops, N scale and HO scale, Kato, Tomix, MicroAce, Greenmax. In part 2, I'll take you with me to Nakano Broadway and Shinjuku, and visit all the shops I know.
In Part 1 I've shown you shops in Akihabara:
    • Tokyo Model Trains Sho...
Here's the list of shops with time stamps:
    0:00 Nakano Broadway
0:30 Nakano Broadway - Big Yard
0:57 Nakano Broadway - Poppo Shop
    1:22 Nakano Broadway - Mandarake
    2:43 Shinjuku - Popondetta
    4:55 Shinjuku - Hobbyland Pochi
    6:08 Kato Showroom
    7:02 Tomix Showroom
I apologize if most of the time the videos are a bit shaky, the problem is that in many shops they don't like you to shot videos, so you must be sneaky ;)
If you know any other model train shops in Tokyo, please leave a comment down below!

Thanks - I am in tokyo now (May 2024) visiting these stores using your recommendations - i did the same last year in 2023. Stock levels are better than last year overall I have found.

That's great, going treasure hunting around model train shops is always exciting! Make sure to check my more recent videos about Tokyo stores, I found new ones compared to the ones featured in this older series

Love all the second-hand shops. A saying we have at our club: “the only difference between a new and a second-hand Kato are the dents in the jewel case”. Their stuff is so high-quality and reliable.

Totally agree! Plus, the Japanese really take good care of their stuff, so when you buy used model trains, they're basically like new. I bought a few used models, I could never tell it was ever used

I went at Popondetta at Keio Mall in Shinjuku last our first Japan travel with my family on November 2017. Lots of stuffs there and there staffs were friendly, kind and some of them are able to speak English well.
I was so happy that one of there staffs let me to run trains on there huge layout for free. I ask only to took pictures only supposedly.
I'm looking forward to go back there again on my upcoming Japan travel this year on August.

Thank you so much for this AND part one! Out of all the shops you've been to, which one gives you the best value for your money? I'm interested in N scale. Thank you so much and subscribed!

Thank you! If you're looking for the best bargains, you should check out the shops that sells used sets. All the ones in Nakano do, and some in Akihabara as well, like Popondetta and a few others I mentioned in the other video. for new stuff, Yodobashi might be your best bet, as it has it's Tax free (10%) and if you pay with a VISA card you get an additional 5% off
