Spend 2 weeks in tokyo one of them was almost a full week in Akihabara.
Just went into random shops. It was a lot of fun even when people couldn't speak English, they would help you as much as they could

Thank you for your video. I really enjoyed it. There is only one thing. I am wondering that you did not show TamTam and Leonardo? Leonardo has 3 stores in Akihabara. They do deal with 2nd hand kits, but that also has its charm.

Thanks for your comment, Pat. This is only a little guide for those who would like to buy some model kits with very little time. Actually I’m planning for another video for for scale model shop. Your suggestion is a very good idea!😏👍🏻

I have only just found your channel and have subscribed. This video is great and gives a lot of information for model makers in other countries.
Do you know if any of the shops you mentioned, or any others have websites and will post to England, the United Kingdom ?
Japenese modellers have access to tools that modellers in other countries cannot get hold of, so I would like to search for such items on websites, so could you do a video about the best shops who do mail orders to other countries please, listing their website details ?
Also, could you do a video showing examples of tools available that are unique or very selective in their use please ?
    Thank you.

Thank you. Glad you like it. The big one - Yodobashi, actually has a web site. It’s in Japanese though:

For the tools, many shops, online or not, do only local mail order. I will gather more info about those tools of Japan which could do foreign orders. Pls be patience.

Thank you for taking the time to post the video and I know that this was fun for you to do. My wife and I would like to travel there but for us it is important to learn the language, we would also like to extend the same courtesy seeing someone communicate in our own language. I would ask my wife to give me at least two days just for hobby shopping. Do you recommend any hobbyist videos from Japan to follow to learn model building techniques? My interest is in science fiction and anime

You could try “Crafta グラフタチャネル”, “Musasino PLAmodel”, Naoki channel”and “hobby-channel”. These included Japanese and Korean scale modeler. Hope this can help!

Don't know if you have visited yet, but there is a little device called a "Universal Translator", and it activity speaks another language for you ! It is fairly cheap for the technology involved (£70 - £75), looks like a microphone, and can translate between any of the 70 languages that is already programmed in to it. Other languages are available to buy as expansion packs.
It is very easy to use - you just click on the flag of the language that you speak, and then click on the language you want it translated into. You then speak the message into the device, and it then speaks the translated phrase out loud to the person you want to speak to. The other person then replies and that message is translated back to your language and thus a full conversation can be had. Simples !
I have used mine on 4 trips abroad and now and would not travel without it. It's been invaluable, especially in shops and markets where you really need to understand what is going on quite quickly.
I hope this helps you in some way, and you do not mind me sending this message to try and help you ?

I’m planning to spend a week in Japan, hoping to buy a few Tamiya car and jet fighter plane kits. Is the supply in these shops good? Any other tips on how much money to spend? Cool video!

Thanks! If you speak about Yodobashi store, you don’t need to worry about the supply. Have you ever worry about the supply of Coca-Cola in a supermarket?😏 just for your reference, last time I got there, I limited myself not to buy too many at a time. Say one or two boxes in a store at a time. After 2 days in Akihabara, I hv spent like 30,000 yen there in several shops for about 10 boxes. Of course, it all depends on how you could control yourself in such area! 😎

@@pla-v.scalemodel thanks for the info! I’m looking to spend 50,000 yen. Looking to buy about 10 car kits and four fighter jet kits, including the new Phantom and the Eagle Bunker Buster. I’m also looking forward to becoming an animal in the Shibuya crosswalk. It looks like intense fun!
