My favorite plank is up and down. The side plank is the most difficult one as my arm is hurt. Anyway, this workout is great. I've just started it since yesterday. Will do it every morning.
My favorite is ANY plank! 2 weeks ago I could not hold a plank for even a second, I'm not kidding.. Now I can hold it for about 2 minutes! I had to pause the video a few times but I'm just SO happy that I've gained so much strength in the past couple of weeks! Side planks are the hardest for me, but I'm gonna keep trying. Thank you for the video!
I have commented a couple years ago, but wanted to tell you again how grateful I am for this 8 minute plank workout. I am turning 58 next week and truly believe that this simple workout has been a major support for my body health. I have passed it on to so many people over the years. Thank you! Paul
Discovered this exercise while in quarantine. I have completed it 4 days in a row now and I feel stronger each time. Its hard but I feel so good after. Thank you!
I started Jared’s core workouts..... 4 months, or so, ago. I’m 58 and after menopause, I never thought I would see AB definition again. I was incorrect. I have a stellar core now, thanks to beginning to ‘roast’ my abs with Jared. I’be decided to compete on a Fitness competition. Many thanks to Jared!

Wow, after 2 months of doing it like 3 or 4 times a week, I was finally able to go for 8 mins with no breaks! This definitely works, my abdomen is getting leaner and i can finally even do push up now. Thanks Jared for this awesome exercise!
At the beginning of lockdown, in a particularly over-ambitious moment, I attempted this video. I couldn't complete it and ended up in no small amount of pain. I went back to basics. I did various core workouts and downloaded a plank challenge from the app store which worked me up to the point I could hold one for four minutes. From years of running, my pelvis/hips/back became such an acute problem I wasn’t able to walk upright for about two hours upon awakening. After two weeks of this workout, the pain (and subsequent anxiety from feeling like I was pushing 100 years old) soon literally vanished. I’ve been doing this routine daily ever since (going on two months). I can see a major difference in my abs, too. On a few occasions I’ve doubled up for 16 mins. Complete game changer. Whereas before I never bought into core work, I’m now completely sold on benefits of core health. Quite honestly, I feel guilty for being about to learn about this workout for free!
It is a great workout . I couldn't make it to full eight minutes at the very beginning but now it is my everyday workout. I have a herniated disk problem and I am feeling better since I started this workout. Thanks a lot sir. Any other recommendation's please ?
I’ve commented a few days ago on this workout, but want to again..... I figured out the reason why I loooove this one (I know, there are 1000s if others on YT) because Jeff’s plank moves are in 30 second intervals and it makes time seem to go by quickly. It’s been a full 2 weeks for me and my core keeps getting more defined. I’m 57 and the belly fat seemed to pop up over night. This workout and 30 minutes of uphill treadmill!!!!! It’s awesome!! This may sound like a weird question, but would it be dangerous to not move your forearms (for blood flow) if you were to remain in a plank position for 8+ hours? Or would you regularly lift and shake your arm slightly at intervals for the duration of the exercise? (Assuming you maintain good form)
@@toneandtighten This is interesting....in one way, it's getting more difficult, because as my technique improves, I'm hitting the muscles harder, & they're getting more fatigued than before--in a way, although they're also getting stronger, so..it's a bit of a trade off. Also too, I as well really like the side plank--I think that might be the best of the planks(although the spiderman & the up/down are also very good), & I like to lean back a bit with them to hit the lats more.
@@toneandtighten Whoo hoo! I just CRUSHED it! chris smith I’ve found through fitness the easier it gets the worse it is. As I don’t want my body to adapt to any exercise I do, I need it to be hard on me every time. As when it gets easier my body starts thinking “right we know his gonna do his abs today at some point let’s regulate and get ready for that” so increasing the time like you said or making it a bit harder when it’s sort of getting easy is the best thing I found.
I am a 40 year old woman recently getting back into fitness. I started this about a month ago and notice a significant increase in core and arm strength. Along with my other fitness routine of lifting and cardio I can now do 5 push ups full form. Thank you for sharing such a great workout! It's hard and I sweat buckets doing it but it 100% worth the effort.
I send this video to everyone I know. I'm a single Dad of four kids. My planet fitness is opened 24 hours Monday through Thursday. But Friday through Sunday they close at 10. With my schedule I can't always get to the gym before they close. So this is my go to home workout. Thanks for sharing this.

Omg!! My up/down planks have turned into One Arm pushups!!! For real!! I’m so pumped!!! Jared, I know I’ve posted a bunch here, but let’s give credit where credit is due; I do the work and YOU are the trainer
I’m 55 and have been exercising since my teens. I normally do the low plank 5 minutes straight. I tried this version and could do eight minute on my first attempt. Very good sequence. Very beneficial. Simply great.
OMG this is the best plank workout! You'll find out it's true when you're entire body lets you know about a day later - then - time to do it again! At 72, I'm lov'n the challenge. goal - 3 days a week.
I usually spend an hour in the gym, stretching and using weights for core, I’ve been doing this 8 minute workout at home because of lockdown and I’m getting better core strength and visibile results already, thank you
Jared. Thank you your very sxplicit and detailed instructional video. It was enjoyable to watch because the 8-minute excercies see easy to do to strenghten my core stomach muscels.
I’ve been doing this workout regularly for over a year now. I’m curious if you can see how many times I’ve watched this but anyway it’s been a great way to really strengthen my core so thank you for making it and your other vids for real.
Awesome routine and Jared seems like a nice guy with kind and helpful encouragement. When I started I collapsed about three seconds into the Spiderman plank and next day I thought I had kidney disease because my sides hurt so much (!), but I'm now up to 6m 41s before I hit the mat and I reckon I'll crack the full 8 minutes in a few days 😃 Thanks for the great video!
Thank you so much for this video. I've not been able to do much exercise for the las 10 months due to a traumatic hand injury. I'm mixing up my workouts, and found this. YIKES. It was pretty tough for me, but I did it. Sharing. Thanks again.
Jared. Do you recommend doing this workout PLUS the 6 minute plank workout “6 minutes of terror” together? Perhaps on alternate days? What do you think is best?
Oh man - these two together would be BRUTAL! Personally I would recommend alternating workouts on alternating days. You'll have to let me know how it goes, David!
I finally nailed it!!! I found it easier to do before the rest of the workout. When I tried it at the closing of the workout, i had trouble mostly with my arms and shoulders rather than the abs.
I love this workout - intense but fast. My only suggestion would be to add a 3 second count down signal so that you knew when 30 seconds was up. My favorite plank is the side plank and the most difficult is the "up-down" planks. On to the next workout! Thank you for these effective workouts.
Yay, did a minute. I would do more but it is midnight and I have limited space in my room. I will try again tomorow in my big back yard Update: got up to 2:30
I survived 2mins 50 seconds on the first try today. Day 2: Yesterday night I played so much badminton and I'm sick today.😷 Can't do this workout today. Day 3: I'm still 😷🤧🤧🤧
Hi I don't know of you remember me. I am the girl, the musician with the middle back pain I got from playing the piano for many hours! I am very happy to announce that I did something very important and I feel relieved. I stopped my piano journey here. I can't handle any more pain and crying everyday for this. My health is far more important than anything. I hope I get better someday. At least I will continue working out and do all the exercises from this amazing channel and I won't be doing the activity that started this hell (piano). I guess it wasn't meant to be. Health is more important.
KHL - it really is intense, but I love that you loved it! These planks are not only a killer core workout, but also arm/shoulder workout! Keep on trying and those arms will build up the strength they need to help you do the entire length of the workout. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
I was looking for something different to incorporate, I have been working out 1 month and lost 11 lbs but 200 crunches were steaming me out (Lower disc issues) after cardio..Saw this today and psyched myself out and BARELY completed 8 minutes. FELT, like I had been at gym 1 hour..Part of my daily wk ou now..Thank you T&T..And my back didn't hurt..Wow..I subscribed and saved video. IM IN👍👍👍.
My friend told me about this in I got interested and now ik how to do it ty :D Edit : wow its soo hard u could only do 5 mins 😓 but I will get better at it
the second lot of up/down arms is a killer. I do this every day and find your style so easy to enjoy. Would like to see your abs for extra motivation. Love your videos the best.
@@toneandtighten update: I was doing this workout daily for some time, for a month or so from memory, and it was working a treat. I was often getting complemented how fit I was looking. My abs were starting to show and my core was getting firm but unfortunately I ended up getting an inguinal hernia. I can't really be certain what caused it and so can't blame this workout but want to warn others to just keep it in mind what may happen if you are unlucky. I was doing them daily when probably shouldn't have been and I'm a sixty year old fart who forgt he wasn't a teenager and probably over did it but I was getting good results and got addicted to it. That is wonderful! I am so glad you enjoyed it and thanks for sharing!
This is one hell of a workout!! Proud of myself, finally did it without stopping!
Great job, Edith! Keep up the hard work!
Damn I couldn't even survive 2 minutes!! Gotta keep trying!
2 minutes this week; 3 minutes next week! That's what it's all about, Carlton! You got this, man!
How far have you come now?
@@habibhassan7770 I gave up haha!
@@carltonsoo829 :(
Same here 2 mins max for the first time
OMG this is the best plank workout! You'll find out it's true when you're entire body lets you know about a day later - then - time to do it again! At 72, I'm lov'n the challenge. goal - 3 days a week.
That's incredible, Sharon! You are a rockstar! I am glad you liked it!
I have to admit this is my first time with planks in awhile and it was really challenging.
It's a tough workout, Collin! Stick with it! Gets easier with consistency as you get stronger.
I usually spend an hour in the gym, stretching and using weights for core, I’ve been doing this 8 minute workout at home because of lockdown and I’m getting better core strength and visibile results already, thank you
Oh, wonderful! I am glad you are seeing results from this one and enjoying it!
Jared.
Thank you your very sxplicit and detailed instructional video. It was enjoyable to watch because the 8-minute excercies see easy to do to strenghten my core stomach muscels.
You're very welcome! I am glad you enjoyed this workout!
God I could only do 4 minutes and needed a break🤣🤣 and started again
JP - 4 minutes is awesome!! It took me a long time to build up to 8 minutes! And way to start again and keep going!
Me to man
Just got into my 3 minutes marks and I'm dying already
one minute only here. i'm an obess
Okay, first time and lasted 4 minutes. The goal is to do it non-stop in a few weeks :)
marmar_lea - that is an awesome goal! I know you will do it! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Tell us about your progress man. How far did you come?
I wish I could drop pics today is day 22 and the change in my chest and stomach is crazy
How long before I see results?
4 weeks if performed consistently. Good luck!
I’ve been doing this workout regularly for over a year now. I’m curious if you can see how many times I’ve watched this but anyway it’s been a great way to really strengthen my core so thank you for making it and your other vids for real.
You are welcome! I am glad you are enjoying it and thanks for sharing!
Awesome routine and Jared seems like a nice guy with kind and helpful encouragement. When I started I collapsed about three seconds into the Spiderman plank and next day I thought I had kidney disease because my sides hurt so much (!), but I'm now up to 6m 41s before I hit the mat and I reckon I'll crack the full 8 minutes in a few days 😃
Thanks for the great video!
Awesome job! Keep it up and thanks for your kind comment!
So this is how I die. At least I'll get a good workout first!
😂 You can do it, Gianna! You might need to work up to it slowly, but you'll be impressed with how much you can do! I believe in you!
@@toneandtighten Aww, thanks! I'm back again to give 'er another try😊
Saved by my door bell. Gonna wonder what I was doing. Promise was planking
😄💯
How often should you do the plank workout?
3-5 times a week, kgbrav. Good luck!
Thank you so much for this video. I've not been able to do much exercise for the las 10 months due to a traumatic hand injury. I'm mixing up my workouts, and found this. YIKES. It was pretty tough for me, but I did it. Sharing. Thanks again.
You are welcome! I am glad you enjoyed it and good luck in your recovery!
Fantastic workout. Couldn't quite do it fully, but kept up pretty well. Looking forward to mastering this workout.
Great start! Keep up the hard work.
David could u kindly share the 6 min terror workout ?
Thank u in advance
I dont know for anyone but i am 100%, that i am never doing this killer workout without stretching before...
5 minutes of normal plank
1.30 minutes of side plank with each arm.....👍👍👍👍👍
It's a beast, Shreshth! You'll have to let me know what you thought of it!
I finally nailed it!!! I found it easier to do before the rest of the workout. When I tried it at the closing of the workout, i had trouble mostly with my arms and shoulders rather than the abs.
Way to go! Keep up the hard work!
I love this workout - intense but fast. My only suggestion would be to add a 3 second count down signal so that you knew when 30 seconds was up. My favorite plank is the side plank and the most difficult is the "up-down" planks. On to the next workout! Thank you for these effective workouts.
Thanks for the tip!
Yay, did a minute. I would do more but it is midnight and I have limited space in my room. I will try again tomorow in my big back yard
Update: got up to 2:30
Awesome job, Burner Acc! Keep working hard!
Wow! I can do only 3 at a stretch! But can go till 5:00 after a break! That Up-Down plank drains all my energy!
I survived 2mins 50 seconds on the first try today.
Day 2:
Yesterday night I played so much badminton and I'm sick today.😷 Can't do this workout today.
Day 3: I'm still 😷🤧🤧🤧
Good for you for starting this workout! I hope you feel better soon!
@@toneandtighten thankyou
@Hungry Hungry Hippo nope I'm good now and I left planking, first I'm gonna lose some weight
Director’s cut: Congratulations guys you’ve been totally roasted by this total plank workout!”
Ha ha, it is a tough one!
Thank you you the best!!! I’m 60 years old and this exercise really helped my back, thank you:)
You're so welcome, Sofia! I am glad to hear this helped your back and you are enjoying the workout!
I´ve been doing this workout at the same time that I try to learn English
I can teach you English lol
Its very difficult for me day by day
I am increasing seconds to minutes starting from 2 minutes to 3 minutes
Again 3 to 4 minutes
It is so hard for beginners ,but I love it
I really can’t hold a plank because my arms get tired (especially side plank)😞
KHL - it really is intense, but I love that you loved it! These planks are not only a killer core workout, but also arm/shoulder workout! Keep on trying and those arms will build up the strength they need to help you do the entire length of the workout. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
You make each variation so easy. Thanks for your video. Really informative
Thanks so much and you are welcome! I am glad you enjoyed it!
IM IN👍👍👍.
After 2 weeks of doing this I finally managed to go 8 minutes straight I’m so happy
Good for you, Demontics! Keep up the great work!
My friend told me about this in I got interested and now ik how to do it ty
:D
Edit : wow its soo hard u could only do 5 mins 😓 but I will get better at it
Thank you, supercollguy11 2! Stay with it and it will get easier!
Here I am trying it out at 2am
You gotta fit it in when you can, Teatua! Did you do the whole thing? What did you think?
the second lot of up/down arms is a killer. I do this every day and find your style so easy to enjoy. Would like to see your abs for extra motivation. Love your videos the best.
Thank you, jason smith! I am glad you are enjoying these workouts and keep it up!
Anyway, my bad. This works a treat and I'm hoping to return to it at some point after my hernia op is done LOL.
OMG, that plank workout was so intense and awesome. I feel so much better. Thank you so much.
You are welcome, Phillip! I am glad you enjoyed it and thanks for commenting!
That plank workout looks easy. Hold my beer 🍺
Get it, Harlem Origin 125! Got my popcorn...
Hold my burger
When you create new exercise you will also display time. I Fallow it. It is fruitful for me. Good morning.
Sunil - great suggestion! I will be sure to add a clock in my upcoming workouts! Thanks for leaving a comment. Have a great day.
I just want to feel my arms again😭
Thanks great ab worout, I did this and your hip flexor exercises for my warm up today.
You are welcome, Joyrobin! I am glad you liked this workout!
I love your workouts. I discovered this in the summer and it took me 3 months to master it. But along with 8 min abs i been doing them both pretty steady and at 49 have my abs tighter then ever. So thanks!
That is so wonderful! What great progress you have made!
My max is 3min and 20 seconds of just normal plank but i didnt try more cos i cant be bothered.
Edit: now my record is 4min and 15 sec
