I noticed the rotors are significantly larger than the OEM ones and I'm just afraid of buying them.. cutting the dust shield.. and the calipers wont reach the two 7/8 (19mm i believe?) bolts that hold the calipers in place. No. There are no difference in the wheel studs, so there would be no reason to change them. The difference between the non-sport and sport braking setup is caliper and rotor only. Hey SC!! I followed your install for the BBK, and everything was great until I had to mount up the rear calipers. Seems like the oem bolts are a bit too big. They begin to thread but stop about 1/4 of the way in. I remember you said you can use the same hardware, and I even went to the Infiniti dealership to check if there's a different size bolt, but they said both the sport model and the Luxe Base use the same caliper mounting bolts. They are directional, you want to have the grooves directed out on the rotation. Your front rotors are swirched

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  Год назад

      No they are not directional. First, the grooves should rotate like a fan blade-like I said in the video. But more importantly, it’s not about the grooves-it’s about the vents.

      @@SpeedCultureStudios The rotor sucks air in from the center of the rotor, pumps it through the vanes, and out through the outside edge of the rotor. This “centrifugal pump” design helps the rotor dissipate heat. If you install a curved vane rotor backwards, it won't be able to pump air as effectively. Trust me, just search google for “are slotted rotors directions”

    I often wonder why so many people go with drilled and slotted rotors. They're noisy and not as durable as regular rotors. In regular daily driving situations, you shouldn't be getting your brakes so hot as to warrant the drilled rotors, and if you are, you probably need to stop riding the brakes so much, or you have a bad caliper and it's sticking. I have said rotors on my Q50, and they're junk! I absolutely HATE them, but they were already on the car when I bought it, and I've not had the chance to replace them yet. Whatever, to each their own, I guess. Good luck with all your endeavors.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  2 месяца назад

      Some drilled and slotted are noisy. These were not. But performance pads often cause the noise much more than the rotors. If a little noise from performance brakes bothers you, just keep your car stock. My c6 corvette came with drilled rotors from the factory. GM thought they were a good idea on a performance car.
      It’s also not only about heat dissipation. It’s about moving gases and brake dust away from the space between the rotor and pad which can severely hinder braking performance under strenuous driving scenarios.
      The factory sport rotors are known for poor quality and tendency to warp. These are a better option than the factory rotor. Whatever, to each their own, I guess.
