    I just had these exact rotors and pads on my 2012 Sport, I'm questioning why i now see the pins sticking out beyond the calipers, only on the back, fronts are flush. Was something done wrong or reversed as to why the pins are sticking out and no longer flush? These have made my Z feel like a new car, my old rotors were pretty warped and shook the steering wheel at high speeds and the feeling in the pedal, it feels so much more solid now. Well worth it.

    Side note: those brake pad backing plates are more for noise than anything else - they prevent brake squeal because they keep pad vibration down. On naked pads you'd need brake quiet which looks like spray paint when applied, and it basically does the same thing.

    @roundearthshill248 3 года назад

    Do you have to "bed in" the new pads/rotors with these? I've watched a couple vidoes of guys swapping out Z pads and rotors and no one has mentioned it yet. Maybe it's so obvious it doesn't need mentioning but I'm a super noob at this lol. I'm going to be installing the Z1 sport brake upgrade kit on my 370 soon (rotors pads lines and fluid). It seems like it's going to be a huge pain in my ass...I've done rotors pads and calipers on a 99 GMC Sierra and I've done brake pads and brake lines on a Honda CBR600RR....so I'm not a total noob but it still seems like a huge pain in my ass LMAO

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  3 года назад

      Whenever you change any slip / friction item like your brake pads, your brake rotors, your pads and rotors, your clutch, your flywheel, your pressure plate, or any other kind of the sort, you will need to bed them in to ensure you have the best contact possible. You essentially need to wear them into one another, and if done right, you will notice your friend coefficient will improve greatly! My advice to you is take your time, ensure everything is lubed as outlined in this video, double check your torque specs, ensure the parking brake works once completed, and lastly, have fun with it! 🙌

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  3 года назад

      Hey Joseph! The only time any of the back heat shields need to be trimmed is if you had the non-sport brakes (slider calipers), as those were designed for a smaller rotor size. If you have a Q60S, you just need to swap rotors, change pads if you like, and you're set.

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  4 года назад +1

      Hey Mark! Doing well, just working away in the garage as much as possible 🙂 So I had a PS leak on my S14 which is very similar to the S13. Check to see the high pressure line from the power steering pump is good. That was the culprit to my issue as it was rusted and the high pressure blew the line. The replacement line was like 80 bucks and worked like a charm. I'd look there first, otherwise there are more lines on the rack. If you can't seem to find the problem, raise your car on jack stands, fill the PS reservoir with fluid, turn the car on, and see where it leaks from. That should do it 👍

    ya but, how does this affect the EBD+ABS? If brake grip is much enhanced, will the EBD+ABS systems adjust to it? And, if not, will it set an engine light, if the EBD/ABS ECU identifies a problem, such as deceleration that exceeds that programmed in the algorithm?

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  2 года назад

      Since the ABS system relies on the wheel speed sensors, changing the brakes to lighter 2-piece rotors won't negatively affect the braking system at all, however since the brakes are lighter, the system will actually work better.

    Why not drilled and slotted rotors 2 piece z1?

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  3 года назад +1

      Drilled rotors tend to crack under extreme use. I would recommend slotted, J hook, or blanks if you plan on pushing your car. Other than that, everything else is for show

    0:38 the tires alone saved you 5lbs? or did you mean the wheels?

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  4 года назад +1

      *Wheels and tires setup. The wheels weigh 21 pounds, and the tires weigh 30 pounds, totalling 51 pounds. The Work wheels I was running weighed 56 and 63 pounds each, WITH used non-reinforced tires.

    Can DOT4 Fluid be used with a DOT3 system?

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  4 года назад

      Yes it can. My 370Z recommends using DOT3 fluid, but I swapped it all out for DOT4 fluid as it is compatible, and an upgrade. I have DOT4 in all of my cars that recommend DOT3.

    The OEM ones look a lot more solid and durable

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  4 года назад +1

      They are alot heavier, bulkier, and probably able to withstand more abuse/neglect. These new ones are more precise, lighter, capable, yet kinda 'fragile'. When you have both rotors in your hands, even though the 2-piece is lighter, you can tell its a nice unit!
