  • Exploring an abandoned boarding house located way out on a deserted island is today's video. This old boarding house was in operation up to the early 1900's and was later abandoned with most everything left behind. It was creepy exploring the house and reading the messages that were scrawled on the walls by guests 100 years ago. Unfortunately, the house is falling into disrepair and will soon melt away onto the forest floor with all physical evidence of its presence gone forever.

Chigg I wished you could have walked around the island and seen the granite quarry and all the old machinery kicking around. They used to take granite off that island. My wife’s family used to caretake that house till the mid nineties

Catawampus means “askew,” “awry,” or “crooked.” We do know the word has been around for more than a century and is spelled many different ways, such as cattywampus and caddywampus. It may derive from the Scots word wampish, meaning to “wriggle,” “twist,” or “swerve.” (waywordradio.org)

Dude, how long has this place ACTUALLY been abandoned for?? It’s so odd seeing such new items alongside such old of inscriptions. I wonder if locals treated it as kind of a communal house? Judging by the coke and the maritime equipment out front, and the mix of new and old generators and all, makes me think people kinda just went there and respected the property for the most part. Nothing there they is destroyed seems to be the work of humans. This is insanely humbling to see. Thank you for showing this. I pray this place is preserved and continues to serve the community for decades to come. THIS is a historic landmark, no if’s and’s or but’s.

Yo what up beau? Dude love all your videos and so look forward to them all the time. I honestly can’t wait till I’m in a point in my life where I can have a channel and share things with people as well. I live In the catskill mountains in upstate ny born n raised. I’ve been all up n down the east coast and as far west as New Orleans which is always considered south but as far west as I’ve been. But have gotten to detect in some nice areas and always places to find where no one has ever detected before, the finest virgin ground that all detectorist dream of and it is just waiting for someone like you or I to come along and see it since it was lost to time. To me the thought of being the first people to see or touch something that a past generation dropped or lost is a feeling like no other and if you happen to. E part of the rare experience of reuniting a prized possession to someone who thought it was gone forever. The gift of being part of that is priceless. Thanks Chig your a great person on RUclips and someone I have always valued your knowledge of seeing land and things as they once were, truly a gift that you were blessed with and thankful you share it with anyone interested. Thanks again for your hard work and time and sharing whatever knowledge you always have. Would truly be an honor to meet someday. Just purchased property way up in the Catskills up above hunter in s as town called Lexington. Hopefully some good things to be found up there, maybe the long lost treasure of legs diamond or some other gangster that called these mountains home . So many untold riches yet to be unearthed and each year less and less people who care to find it. . Thanks chig for your awesome channel and the inspiration I get from you. Take care my friend!!
