- Desperate times in week two of the lockdown. We're running out of diesel, coal, and water so we need to move narrowboat Silver Fox during the lockdown to the nearest marina for supplies.
The restrictions allow us to move for essential journeys like this, so we're acting well within the guidelines, but it's deathly quiet on the canal as we head from Long Itchington, up the Stockton Locks to Calcutt Marina for desperately needed supplies.
Catch-up on every vlog, from the beginning, in order, as we explore Britain by Narrowboat:

When Colin asked which dinosaur would he be why did I immediately think of Barney.
LMAO! 😂
bren106 HAHAHAHAHA
Thank you so much for the time you take researching and producing these videos. Love the history, camera work, humor and especially the music. Just pure escapism in this strange times. Really worrying what you found at the Co-op supermarket, you did the right thing just leg it. Stay safe and look after each other.
Thank you very much! Yeah, not worth the risk. Take care 👍🏻💜😛
You two are a ray of sunshine. :)
That's the best thing we've been called all day 💜😛👍🏻
You guys make my Fridays much brighter! Stay safe and healthy!
You too, Lyn. Take care 👍🏻💜😛
instablaster...
Again you have taken me out of the cofines of the house and given me a smile with the witty comments and I have also learnt something along the way. Both of you stay fit ,well, safe and sane; we need you.
Thanks, Dave. Take care 😛💜
Hi Guys! It is so nice to have a smile and a good laugh with you. We also REALLY appreciate the research you do and the facts and interesting bits about stuff. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! It is a wonderful breath of joy to watch you guys. We have the bug to live on a narrowboat but it is a long while off 'til we will be able to manage it. Now that my husband has been laid off I am not sure it will ever happen but hope springs eternal. Love everything about your vlogs! Be well.
Ah, things will get back to normal quicker than you imagine. Although I hope they don't in a way. Life is quieter and time has slowed. I think that's a good thing (although I hope you earn money soon!) Sending love 💜
Before I comment on your latest Vlog, I must first say that I have noticed that you two have the neatest, cleanest narrowboat on the canal. It looks like you wash and wax it everyday. And like others, you don't have the roof of your boat covered in nix-nacs . Now on to your Vlog. Once again you've taken a bad situation, The Virus, and shown us all how we can turn it into a pleasant day. Nice to see Dillon finally getting equal air time with you too. LMFCO!
Very kind of you to notice and to say. Thanks, Mark! We hate clutter 😬 Take care 👍🏻💜😛
As always guys this vid is a breath of fresh air. If anyone gets me through this horrible lockdown, you will!!! Thanks for all the uploads .
Our pleasure! Take care! 😎👋🏻💜
I love how much you two laugh with each other. I hope someday to find someone to spend my life with who will laugh with me that much. You give me hope. lol
Thanks. There'll be someone out there ❤️
The birdsong you picked up on is the spring call of the not so common Hawthorn Oohmearse! It's a bird that seems to only hang out and nest in prickly hawthorn hedges along the canalside. Everytime it sits on a prickly hawthorn branch it calls out loudly 'Ooh me Arse, Ooh me Arse!!!! 😀🐤🐤🐣
LMAO! 😂
The fact that you are even thinking about something as esoteric as "continuity" kind of shows why your vids are among the most professional-looking of the narrow boating vlogs. So good to see you moving about!
Hehe! Thanks, Jay. Yeah, I go way overboard sometimes, but I love it. Take care 👍🏻💜😛
Another entertaining winner. Great drone footage. Go on be adventurous & go south. Stay safe 😃😃😘👍👍
Aren’t we south enough already? 😂
Foxes Afloat not yet. When you get into the Thames river turn round & head back to Yorkshire 😘
The bird is a Chiff Chaff 👍
Really? Not with O2? 😂
I can't decide which I enjoy more- the facts or the chuckles!! Take care!
Both! 😂
Both! 😂
You lads, and the ever-lovely Dillon, have once again brightened my day. Very good to see how you're managing. Also, your camera work and drone shots are spot on. So enjoyable, lightening the gloom of the acropolyse.
Thank you! Take care 😛👍🏻💜
I can’t think of a better way to isolate than the way you guys are doing it!
It's not so bad 😏
You have such a disarming self-deprecating manner, quite refreshing as there are so many egos! But people reinforce it and easily taken to heart! Your great and human and don't let anything make you think otherwise. Take care!
Wow, thank you!
Great to see you all keeping well. Love the videos when I get ping on phone and see Foxes Afloat brightens up my day.
Aww, thanks! Take care 👍🏻💜😛
For heaves sake do not stop vlogging. I seriously need to watch the two of you often. It is the only time I have a good laugh!!
No plans to stop 👍🏻💜
Glad to see you guys are staying safe (and sane?). I appreciate that you're still putting out great content for us even with everything else that's going on. Keep it up!
As an aside, I find using coal really weird. Over here (at least on the West Coast of America) it's treated as something only a fraction better then nuclear waste, so the idea of using it to heat your home would be treated as insane. It's one of those cultural things you never really think about until it's suddenly right there.
Ah, it's not coal, it's a smokeless briquette. We're not allowed to burn coal or wet/green wood.
Theo Winters
One of the things that I find amazing is that depending on where you’re from in the US and what age group you’re in you might not understand how you got where you’re at. Who built the infrastructure?
Well I was born in 43, almost everyone burned coal for heat in Pennsylvania that didn’t have city gas or as it known now natural gas. 100 years before that virtually everyone burned coal or wood for heat. Along came the steam engine, again made steam with wood or coal. And then along came the gas engine power and replaced many of the steam engines by using natural gas, gasoline or alcohol. And then along came the electric motor and that replace steam and gas engines that remained. Oh my, where did the electricity come from, well like for my electric car it came from a generating plant burning, wait for it “coal”. You can throw nuclear in there and you could throw natural gas in there which is now taking over. This section of my comments are meant to make you understand the state where you live, things you enjoy that were put there decades upon decades before you were born allow you to have the attitude that you have about coal and nuclear power.
The sticker I had made on the back of my electric car says this car is powered by Coal, natural gas and nuclear energy. Now you could throw in there some windmills and solar panels but in the long run at night and windless days they add nothing.
If you’re from California or from the southern part of the United States heat is not a major issue with you. But just remember this country got settled starting in the Northeast. When bridges had to be built in California in New York Etc, The steel mills in Pittsburgh burning coal and coke smelling up the place provided the steel that you needed for your bridges and buildings. The COVID-19 may give you a wake up call and if the SHTF in this country I know how to stay warm feed myself and survive because I’ve lived through enough stuff and paid attention in my life and I don’t fall for everything that comes along that sounds good. I hope you don’t fall for BS either. If you were cold enough you would use that insane coal!!!
I’ve now watched every single one of your vlogs over the last 9 months or so, start to finish, so funny !! I’m at a loss these last few weeks since I got up to date, I’ve enjoyed killing an hour or two at night watching you cruise about the country and the week long wait for an update, ugh 🤣 I’m from the North East but live near the Liverpool/Leeds canal in Greater Manchester so I remember looking out for you when we were out with the dogs in Pennington Flash, around the time you’d been past Wigan ha. Take care guys, you’re keeping people’s spirits up in these mad times, huge respect 👊🏽💛
Thanks, Mike. We still haven't been past Pennington Flash so we'll be looking to go up that way when we come back north. Take care! 👋🏻😎💜
A chim chimney bird!!! I think you need a flue brush up your chimney! Great vlog guy's, a bright spot in a miserable day.
Hehe! Sounds like a bet 😂
Your videos are such a highlight of the week, I really look forward to them. As a member of the ‘vulnerable’ group, I will remain in lockdown indefinitely, so your smiles and laughter are a welcome diversion. Thank you!
Wonderful! Take care, Robin 👍🏻💜😛
Thank you for taking my mind to a more gentle, happy place without ignoring the state of the world. I enjoy sharing your life. So a big thank you. Love you both and Dillon too.
Our pleasure, Marjorie. Take care 😛👍🏻💜
Lovely interesting and gentle vlog, lovely fellas. Just what was needed today......glad you managed to get all your water, fuel and stuff sorted. Make sure you both take care in these strange times.......fancy leaving us on a cliffhanger! Looking forward to next time. Lots of love. 😘😘😘😘
Thanks Rachel! Take care 👍🏻💜😛
My husband and I are watching your blog in order. We love them so much. I love Sean’s laugh! Always makes me smile. We love the history you give of all the places. Thank you! Be safe.
Awesome! Thank you!
I was forced to move to a warf today. My old batteries finally gave out and I had no power, had to take the poor girl into be repaired. Saw a lot of signs along to the towpath urging people not to use them for exercise, no-one was listening, hundreds of people flocking up and down the path, one guy even having a Picnic. Thankfully the sight of all the little ducklings is keeping me happy.
Yeah, we've found that too, although we've found a magical spot, just enough room for one boat (us) and not a soul in sight! Magic! Good luck with the repairs and take care 👍🏻💜😛
Thanks guys. Keep having fun, you're making a difference.
Thanks, Brenda. Take care 😛👍🏻💜
In these bad days (with this whole crisis and my own lil' personal crisis) its great to see your vlogs. Really enjoy them and makes me happy :)
That's very kind of you to say. Thanks! Take care 👍🏻💜😛
Dillon is so beautiful...angels come in many disguises....sweet boy for sweet boys! thanks for the great video
Thank you too!
What a great episode, love Fridays, 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Shaun's expression's when Colin take's off on one of his frequent humorous digressions are absolutely priceless. Especially in this vlog's outtakes. To day is Friday Foxes Fun Day, best belly laughs all week. Thanks Guys Stay Safe
Shaun is ironically one of RUclipss greatest straight men.
Couldn't agree more! Take care 👍🏻💜😛
The Ed McMahon of canals
Great entertainment again boys and Dillon, the bird was a Chiffchaff of course, bet you knew that really and why is it that I find myself waving at passing canal boats that you're filming !!! I'v got to get out more. Take care.
Haha! We're getting to your head! 😂
Great tit
Rest in peace, little buddy. I love that he spent his last doggy days cruising the country side, enjoying himself. You are great dads ❤
Thank you 💜
My favorite part of Friday evening. Canal and narrowboat living with Foxes Afloat. Be well.be safe.Be happy

Wonderful outtakes guys! You two keep safe.
Thanks! You too!
I watch a number of Narrowboat Channels. I am retired and living full time in Ecuador. I enjoy them all. Yours makes me smile, every time. I enjoy your enthusiasm, your interest in trivia of the canals. The two of you seem like a good team. Thanks again for the look into life on the canals.
Wow, thank you! Take care 👍🏻💜😛
Your smiles and laughter really makes us happy! Thank you for sharing your giggles!
You are so welcome! Take care, Barney 👍🏻💜😛
G'day lads, enjoyed the out takes for this one, love Sean's laugh it has to lift your day.

I look forward to your show every Friday, love you guys. Til next time.
Awesome! Thank you!
Good to see you safe and well!!
Thank you! Take care 👍🏻💜😛
Well my mental health has taken a battering this week resulting in a meltdown so your vlog as ever has cheered me up. I had to rack my head though when you talked about Weedon, then eureka! We took our caravan to a little site on a CL field, we were able to pitch right by the canal, I sat all day watching boats go by and that’s where my love for canal boats started.... Stay safe boys. Thank you 🙏🏻
There you go! It's like we knew you'd need us 🤗 Take care 👍🏻💜😛
Thinking of you Jason 🍀
Foxes Afloat Well one good thing came out of my meltdown, part from you boys cheering me up, the hubster has agreed that enough is enough, we are sitting down today to sort finances, he has seen a boat he likes, all without my knowledge and when we are able after lockdown we are seriously looking at a new life on the canals 😃 took a serious meltdown to get there like 😡🥴
Sally Mander thank you Sally, that’s very kind of you... many more people out there battling mental health, especially now
@@7474lad Yay! Keep me up to date! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Watching these out of order. It seems odd seeing lovely Dillion. I'm sure you guys miss him loads ❤️. How fortunate you are to have these vlogs to look back upon.
Yeah, we miss him every single day 💜
Foxes Afloat the pain eventually eases, but the memories are yours forever. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi guys, thanks for the 20 minute ride today loved every minute. Great therapy for me watching your videos and you always manage to make me smile. Keep it up and stay safe
Our pleasure, Nigel. Stay safe 💜
Motes may be bored but I find your vlogs, interesting and entertaining. Probably compulsory viewing during an apocalypse!
Thanks, Jim! Hope you're keeping safe 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Probably already know by now, but it’s a Chiff Chaff, so named due to its distinctive call.
Yeah 👍🏻
That's Captain Dillon to y'all 🐶
Haha! It's a good job he can't talk! Take care 👍🏻💜😛
Thanks guys for cheering us up as always, A Nightmaresarus maybe lol. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Haha! I totally would be 😂
You guys are the only ones who could make going for fuel such an interesting journey. Thanks for another great vlog. Watching from Massachusetts USA.
Always our pleasure. There's a story around every corner 😉 Take care 👍🏻💜😛
One Henry Calcutt set up a very sucessful brewery in Peterborough... the OTHER Peterborough... in Ontario, Canada. Long gone now, sad to say.
👍🏻
Bird song? I reckon it's a ChiffChaff....... but I could be wrong, as it may be the legendary and very rare Oozlum bird that flies around in ever decreasing circles until it disappears up it's own backside. It's true guys, look it up on 't interweb thingy.
I will 😂
Thank you once more, wonderful Foxees! That was perfect joy and silliness. How you managed not to comment on Itchington Bottom Lock I'll never know.
Ah, it was too obvious 😏
Relatively new viewer saying hello from the southeastern USA. Thanks for the vlog and for the good cheer in these trying times. I hope you're safe and well through all this!
Thanks, Michael! Take care 👍🏻💜😛
Don’t know what it is but your videos Are very interesting 👍
Wow, thanks
You can say capolopitick any way you want
😂😂😂
"There's moats boored up there now." (10:48) I do enjoy the professional camera work that you put into each of these, each and every time. But my goodness, y'all got me laughing so much with that one, I'm still smiling now! Thanks.
Good health and safe travels wherever you go, when one is allowed to go!
Cheers from West Virginia.
Hehe! Glad we could make you smile. It was one of those things that looked funnier in editing than when it happened 😂 Take care 👍🏻💜😛
Your filming is worth an Oscar. Xxx
Best or worst? 😂
I shan't be worried until it becomes Fox afloat and Sean is complaining that he has eaten something that disagreed with him and is stood next to a stump
LOL! 😂
morning guys, you reminded me of a bad joke when i was a kid.. why can't you hear a pterodactyl got to the toilet ? Because the pee is silent... okay its official I've lost the plot! if you turn left or right - be safe and well but keep the vlogs coming x
Oh, Sean 👏 👏 👏 Take care 👍🏻💜😛
Really enjoyed the continuity joke. I laughed out loud. Cheers.
Cheers. Glad it tickled you 😂
You two have me crying with laughter 🤣🤣. Colin I thought you were supposed to be resting your stress fracture, so what happened??? You both have made my day and isolating is so much easier than mixing with people. Stay safe and have fun. 💕
LMAO! Our vlogs are recorded weeks in advance. That hasn't happened yet 😂
Take care 👍🏻💜😛
Enjoy the Oxford. Just a hunch...
You seem very confident about that young man 😛
Well you were adamant that you’re not going to Braunston
Double bluff? 😜
Would love to have a pint with you 2 someday.

Another great vlog gentlemen! I would recommend a Dillon Cam in the near future, he's adorable!! It's always great to watch your videos and I always look forward to Fridays now, a great mood enhancer for me. From the Heartland of Kansas, stay safe and well my friends 🤗!
Ah, we tried once but it just makes the viewers sick. Take care 👍🏻💜😛
So well produced, it really could be a tv-show! One of few channels where the music is at a correct level versus speech too. As always, I appreciate all the research Colin somehow finds time for. That dinosour-scene tho... Shaun's expression had me going for a while :-) Nice to see the fracture hasn't made you do locks with crutches!
Ah, these are a few weeks behind, that’s yet to happen 😬
@@FoxesAfloat Doh... I really, really should have thought of that...😒😂

Thanks! You too!
That bird is called a chiffchaff, is a migrant & overwinters to the south
Brilliant! 👍🏻
Fi Edwards it’s a great tit
I love the videos on so many levels. We too are a married gay couple together 25 years. I was wondering if you feel a bit disconnected from the world in a way that makes you want to settle down and have some stability by constantly moving in the boat? My husband, who also has extremely high functioning Asperger’s syndrome, needs pretty set routines with little deviation to stay alright and comfortable in his own skin. I have accommodated that for many years now while also gently getting him to go a little outside of his comfort zone. He is alright as long as I am there with him coaching him and supporting him. I am his rock. He might be able to make the traveling itself, the routine that makes everything ok, but I would be a little concerned that he would eventually have problems further down the line. Your thoughts? I know this syndrome does not have just one form of expression. I am in Sean’s shoes as a loving husband who wants only the very best for my husband. Sometimes I grow frustrated and my temper can get a little short even thought I know what is going on. More of your thoughts, if you can share them. It is rare I get to talk to another couple in a similar situation. Great video gentlemen. Many thanks!
Hi!
I wouldn't say we felt disconnected, but we do try to avoid the crowds. If I'm honest, travelling doesn't fit in with ASD. I hate change, and travelling involves constant change, which causes stress and worry about moving. Shaun is the same as you in the sense that he has to cope with something he doesn't understand. Sometimes it get's too much for him too. x
Thanks for your reply. It was honest and helpful. You are kind and sweet to take the time to respond. Do you all have a Facebook page too? Never mind, I found it!
You guys cheer me up. Need a bit of that these days.
So kind. Thank you and take care 👍🏻💜😛
Glad you’re both well!
All good here 👍🏻
Hi again. It's your # 1 American fan, except for Donald Trump, j/k, or he may be. Anyways I'm trying to catch up on all the vlogs but I skip ahead to read the new ones as well. Glad I did or I wouldn't have known about Dillon and probably kept talking about him. I am sorry and know that loss all too well, that's our family. I was wondering, is there a vlog all about the locks and the canals? It is so interesting to me. How were they made, why were they first made, how long are they, how many are there ??? Colin, you are a great teacher, have you taught before ?? The way you and Sean describe things makes it so easy to understand. I'll say again, you are the most perfect couple and do the gay community proud. So many look up to you both. Ok, hang in there and watch out for LOCK NESS MONSTER !! not the same thing is it, ?? HAHA, LOVE YA
Hi, Ronnie. No, I've never taught before. Try this for the lock gates ruclips.net/video/4uDDqtLs34E/видео.html
Dillon in the background, thinking “Sigh. I may as well make myself comfortable.... we’ll be here for ages.....there’ll be 50,000 ‘takes’, tons of giggles, lots of carry-on and silly silliness before we get going......I’ll give ‘em The Mooch Look every now and then just to remind them we’re on a mission here, I have important things to do, so get a wiggle on boys.....sigh”.
No way! The Police stopping you. Wow! Take care! 💜😛👊🏻
I enjoy and learn about canal life through your vlogs, and you two make me laugh.
Aww, thanks, Roy 👍🏻
You two are the best ! Dillion well he's a star also. Enjoy all your video's here in Canada. Your isolated but better then me. I'am stuck in a 6th floor apartment, out once a week for food !
Jeez. That would drive me mad! Take care 👍🏻💜😛
In the last shot you pass a boat with a wind turbine, Do you know if those are very effective at generating electricity?
They don't create enough in my opinion to justify the cost and size of the installation. I wish they did because I'd love more green power on the boat 👍🏻
“People know when you change clothes”. Colin, you are such a goof! Must be why we love you.
💜💜
Oh how I love the outtakes! You always save the best for last. And I adore the trivia and history lessons.
Yay, thank you!
Nice to see Paul at the marina 👍
