- We encounter a thief caught on camera breaking into our narrowboat! Our CCTV catches him as he tries nicking my bike before he gets chased by Colin in his pants along the towpath into the night! 😂 Welcome to Britain by Narrowboat!
Before the excitement of getting our thief caught on CCTV and Colin chasing burglars in his pants, we leave our mooring on the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal and head towards Barbridge Junction and the Shropshire Union Main Line, turning left towards Nantwich.
We pass Hurleston Junction and check out the work to rebuild Hurlseton Lock 4, the bottom lock on the entrance to the Llangollen Canal. We catch up with Phil from @NarrowboatJourneys before mooring up in Nantwich.

Had he knocked on your door at a reasonable hour and politely asked if he could clean your windows and polish your paintwork and take your rubbish to the bin in exchange for a gift for his child, would you have helped him? Almost certainly. If you hadn't, someone in the next ten boats would have. No excuse for thievery.

I'm so happy that I found your videos here. They've really been helping me through a stressful time. I lost my job with the electrical union here due to the coronavirus pandemic and it causing me to miss so classworks and jobs along the way while my house was being condemned. I spent for long hard years putting effort into this future career just to lose it all over a 100-year pandemic and the union not having any sympathy for me I was very upset and depressed I do not know what to do. But your videos have been helping me stay happy and realize you can get through life no matter what

Love you guys , just watched this video and it put a huge smile on my face , not only do I live in Cheshire but I did the camel boat holidays as a kid with my grandparents and it brought back so many memories , I was able to take my partner on a canal boat holiday back in 2016 and we did the Warwickshire ring and my partner absolutely loved it , and even though I hadn’t worked a lock since I was a kid it all came back to me , keep up the videos and hopefully you will come to Runcorn one day on your journey and I would certainly bring you some cakes lol .

Hey just thought of something else. We have a local community FB group around here. Alarmingly frequently there are "Do you know this person?" type photos posted of people stealing things. Also quite frequently, someone knows the thief and can help track them down and arrests have been made because of this. Sometimes the responses are amusing. "That's my boy! I wondered where he got those shoes! I'll get you your stuff back and blister his backside so bad his grandkids will have trouble sitting!"
As your attempted thief damaged nothing and got away with nothing, there's not much in the way of a crime to charge them with(at least here), but it might be worth posting the video on local FB groups for some local censure and entertainment.

Think I recognised the uninvited late caller, he is known locally as Robin (Robbin B.stard). Leave an old bike which can be easily taken, hopefully greed means the 'Robbin B' will take what is available and go. However make sure the brake blocks are unfastened on the bike. As a speedy get away is made, the faster the better, the first sharp bend should do the trick. All they will need for Christmas is their new front teeth. When you hear the ambulance siren, you know it's time to go and reclaim the bike, or what's left of it.

Sorry I was late but the traffic was bumper to bumper all the way here then on the towpath I tripped over a cat and nearly fell in the canal. My Uncle taught me to fish when I was around 10 years old (41 yrs ago shhh) and it was on the Grand Union Canal in Aylesbury where I was born and it gave me a love of canal's and narrowboats which I have had ever since. My Christmas was lovely, we had my lovely Mother in law over for Christmas day, she is an absolute treasure. then a very quiet Boxing day 😉😊. These guys have a beautiful narrow boat . It seems that these guys are happy doing the waterways of Great Britton . I like the episode where they added up their yearly expenditures . About £12,000 a year .

I hate that feeling when someone climbs on the boat uninvited. I instantly turn into the angriest woman on earth and have seen grown men run away in fear at my war cries. It’s scary what adrenaline makes you do when someone attacks your castle ;)

Tbh though. I think a lot of the time burglars aren’t expecting people to be on board at all and just the mere presence of someone coming out will make THEIR adrenaline kick in and try to escape.
