- On John's third trip to Ohio to see the SMW shop, he gets a full tour! It's been a while, so there's lots to catch up on, and Grimsmo gets a peak at things like their Khanban cards, and super cool laser!
Bonus: Are you missing Saunders' old shop, and wanna see it again? Well, you're in luck! Grimsmo also gets to see that and the farm!

I'm so happy for both of my favorite RUclips Johns! It's been really fun to watch both of your journeys.
Thanks bud!
Woah , how times have changed so quickly. Hoping my shop can grow.
Y'all are my inspirations ! :)
Im trying to reopen my grandpas Machine shop he had back in the 70's and 80's , he did aerospace work . I plan to keep the same company name. the only thing I don't have from his shop is , the space he rented and his machines. but I have all his tools , metrology equipment and so forth. !! :)
its just hard trying to get a business loan at the age of 21. all the banks and credit unions have laughed at me saying im too young to start a business.
So jealous for you guys! It must be great to do what you're so passionate about. You both have come a long way where you started from.
Thank you Jyrki! We're having a blast.

That shop model is genius! Potential product right there 👌🏻
Always an enjoyable video when you two get together 😊
3D printed the dog. That is awesome. :)
Awesome video. It seems Saunders is way ahead of you I terms of processes and organization. Love how it is all thought trough
Was that your water cooled quench plate there at the end? Glad you had fun on the trip, sir. - Tom Z
Yes indeedy!
I have this exact cabinet 13:11 on my EE bench! It's my father's. Still works great. It was his dad's too :)
I have that EXACT Kennedy box. From my grandpa who used it throughout his adult life as a machinist. I believe he got it some time in the 60s
Shop space is a real issue for me (Single garage about 160sqft..)Heck I'd be stoked if I had a shop half the size of Grimsmo's ... Saunders building looks huge ..must be good money in fixture plates!..and the big old farm shop space too. crazy!
5:50 - It's called Sandvik Autotas and it's a great system when everyone in the shop knows how to use it properly.
17:30 Tim Paul called, he wants his fixture back!
Shops are looking great keep up all the hard work
We have two of those exact toolboxes in our school shop, theyre the definition of quality still smooth
Excellent in every way!
ATB, Robin
I think I caught a glimpse of my contribution to the wall of cool parts @16:44!
The dog in your model is a nice touch.
It is funny to see stuff I alredy seen on the NYC CNC channel, from other perspective =)
Why are you guys so awesome🤦♂️
Because we have FUN! :-)
That you do:)
Oh look... a machine shop tour with the camera pointing in the right direction!
Man from nothing to impressive. Congrats !
The Kennedy tool box. Fun trivia. Who knows what that strange square middle drawer is made for?
Machinist handbook
@@bcbloc02 yup!
i always wondered about the "thing" that caused john to leave that home shop after moving in? im thinkin it was a huge blowout........
How do you keep your shop so clean? Where i work there are plenty of chips laying around oil and so on.... Your machines look like they never seen some work tell me how? :p
An interface with screen , for your purpose sounds right, I get it.
YAY!
Looks like a vacuum manifold for a vacuum fixture plate.
Good guess! Water cooling plate.
FIRST
NYC CNC you sold that awesome lathe?!?!!
Also what has happened with the plasma table?
Inside information. That's illegal.
We're could I find more info on your classes
Time to get that corn out of the field John! :-)
@@crazybrutus1234 nyccnc.com/events !
You guys decide you want some laser work done or need a machine to fit your needs let me know.
Whatever you're making looks like some sort of a giant water cooling block. :D I have no idea what it actually is...
That is indeed what it actually is. It's finished and working great, Erin is working on that video now.
Agree,
Hello guys, just one question, if you could choose between Haas VM3 machine and DMG MORI CMX 1100v. Which one would you choose?
Hahaha, I'll probably say CMX and Saunders would probably say VM3. At the end of they day they're both fantastic machines! Fanuc vs Haas is a consideration. Parts availability and support, etc.
umc 3d model spotted :P
Made is USA!!!!
Who made the VM3 fixture plate? Thats massive.
They probally did
@@chiefmachining7972 it looked like it was larger than the travel. However i don't know what the travel of the machine is. so i could be wrong.
It's actually multiple plates !
the kids not gonna be a basketball player i guess...lol
why the grinder? ....
#bromance - I'm jealous.
Where do I get a mr roboto shirt haha
*WHERE DID YOU BUY THAT SHIRT*
The Domo Arigato one? I think he got it from Selway Machine Tools in California, that's what it said on the back of it.
