❤ I went dry in January and started to enjoy zero alcohol spirits, and love some of them. Lots of overconsumption in my cultures. Good looking out for yourself, and being gentle in the process.
Thanks for sharing your experiences and your thoughts so openly, Erin. I didn't know about your late husband - that sounds like an awful ordeal. Good for you for being so attuned to your health and your goals. Like you, I drank WAY too much in my teens and early 20's. Of course, I had to stop drinking when I was pregnant (and trying to get pregnant and breast-feeding). That plus being so exhausted with babies and little kids made me less likely to drink too much - it just wasn't worth feeling so bad the next day if I had to take care of the kids! But then I got sick in 2002 with my chronic immune disorder, and I soon discovered that alcohol made me worse - both immediately in the long-term. In recent years, whenever I was doing a bit better, I started occasionally having a half beer (I like IPAs too) or rarely, a full beer. But I had an illness relapse the past few months that required me to get back to a very strict diet (no sugar, no refines grains, no yeast, and definitely no alcohol). Anyway, I admire you for being aware of what was going on and for wanting to do better for your own health and your goals. After 21+ years, I can attest that it's hard to be the only one not drinking in social settings, but I don't really have much choice. It's great that you are making this choice for yourself (or as you said, sticking with your plans). Thanks for your honesty - and I hope this month goes well for you!
Thanks for sharing and for your support Sue. My first major test will be book club in a couple of weeks. We drink a LOT of wine at book club. I’ve got one day down.

That’s amazing! I’ll definitely be looking into some mock tail recipes. Thanks for the comment and the support.

@@eringolive You can do it, Erin! My book group drinks a lot of wine, too, but I stick with my water - or bring my own flavored seltzer!
You have got this, Erin!
Thank you Annie!
Good luck.
Thanks!
