Jonathan as a standalone character is pretty underrated. His character was interesting from the very beginning, and he differed from the typical main characters of other anime/manga; who are usually at a weak or depressing point in their lives when the story starts, then find a goal to strive towards. In Jonathan's case, he kind of had everything, and all he did was lose the things he had one by one as soon as Dio came into his life. Most anime/manga protagonists would want revenge for what Dio would put them through, but Jonathan truly saw Dio as a brother. Jonathan understood Dio's struggles as a child and didn't mind it up until a certain point, where Jonathan got really pissed and broke Dio's nose with his fists. But after that, they seemed to at least be on good terms with each other. Jonathan didn't fight Dio because he ruined his life, but for the greater good; and even in his final moments saw Dio as his brother. I wouldn't mind seeing more characters like Jonathan Joestar in other anime/manga since Hirohiko Araki is usually good at making interesting main characters. Each Joestar has something that makes them unique, something that makes them stand out among other mainstream anime/manga protagonists.
I think the reason might be that he was very reactionary. Something happened and he reacted to it and that was basically what guided him throughout the story. His father got poisoned then go to ogre street, Dio became a vampire then fight him, Dio is still alive and will take over the world then find him and fight everyone in the way. There were not many important things he did that was purely his own initiative but that can be seen as him being a passive and selfless person. I am not trying to hate on Jonathan but am just giving an argument, while not my favorite I still really like him although I enjoy every JoJo greatly.
Goat Lover imo being reactionary isn’t something bad,he was practically a normal man before Dio entered his life. I think it makes more sense for Dio to be the driving force of the story than him
1:43 This part never fails to make me smile. The sense of triumph and accomplishment I feel from this moment is just so inspiring. Even when he’s gone, Jonathan’s descendants will still be there to carry on his heroic spirit.
The true JoJo, and the true Gentleman. Love how you actually, like, made it like a battle theme instead of just doing an 8 bit orchestra. Amazing job as always! (Also, Spotify gang, where you at?)
Jonathan worms into my heart the most out of every JoJo protagonist. He fought with soul and conviction when he was alive, and he died with honor at the end. A true hero among heroes.
Jonathan Joestar is the most honorable Jojo. You can't change my mind. Sure, maybe I have a favorite Jojo that isn't him, (or should I say GioGio), but I have a special place in my heart for Jonathan.
I REALLY appreciate that end part. Like, god, the best way of making an already honor-emanating song even more honorable, and then putting out the LITERAL cover of the album? 10 outta 10.
Part 2 takes place in 1938 Part three takes place exactly one century after the final battle against Dio, in 1989 Parts 4 through 8 take place long after Jonathan's fight against Dio. *This is the power of the Joestar Legacy*
That's the point of this plot actually.. That's why in season 1 there is two MC. Jonathan plot is basically storytelling the prologue on how it started and Joseph is how the story involved with battle tendency. Dio is another part story which is season 2
A few references I found (Phantom Blood Spoilers): Jonathan pose at the start. Characters that died on the left, characters that survived on the right. Around 0:45, both Speedwagon and Poco fade out, signifying that they stayed out of the battles. Around 0:49, as the killer of Baron Zeppeli appears, Zeppeli himself vanishes, signifying that he was overpowered and killed by said killer (I don't know the name I forgot). As Zeppeli dies, Jonathan is left by himself, signifying that he was the only person that finished both battles. At 0:55, Jonathan conducts hamon breathing, showing that Zeppeli gave the last of his hamon to Jonathan. As the villains fade away, there is but one opponent left; Dio. As he becomes nearly as big as the screen, it shows that for most of PB, Jonathan was only thinking and was nervous about the final fight with Dio, but after the allies and the sacrifices that were made along the way, Dio slowly fades away from Jonathan's mind because he became more confident as time went on. At 1:10, we are shown the defeat of Dio, with the neat Castlevania reference (I think) at the top. Now this may might be a bit of a stretch, but, Jonathan pushes Dio to the left, signifying that in the final scene, he tries to kill Dio along with himself, with the Jobros at the back helping the orchestra like they helped Jonathan. But, at 1:30, Dio is suddenly on the right again, signifying he LIVED the final scene. And at 1:41, Jonathan is consumed by the darkness, also known as the Joestar curse where the Joestars will forever be haunted by Dio and his descendents although he still raises his hand to the sky, signifying that despite the Joestar curse he, and the other Joestars, can fight through it, and the pointing to the sun is both a reference to the PB opening and as the future Jojo's appear, show he would lead the best generation. But it all isn't willy nilly oh we won. Although they are reaching the sun, the darkness still consumes them, showing how no matter how hard they try, they will still be haunted by the Joestar curse. But hey, that's just a theory, *A GA-*
Dead characters being on the left is also a reference to the Jojo openings which also did this (and spoiled every death at the beginning of the season, not that anyone noticed)

Then you marry your girlfriend, have a son named Zombie Meat and then find out your brother isn’t dead so you end up “killing him” but you kill your self too:
I love that when Joseph, Jotaro, Josuke and Giorno fades in at the end, their theme would also appear (End screen videos) Edit: Also the SCORE, it's 011987 (January 1987) when the manga of JoJo was released
Imagine a game in bits like this, colorized, and it’s all the events of JoJo’s Bizarre adventure: Phantom Blood but with way more vampires and fights and from time to time you would obtain a new hamon ability? Dio’s obviously the final boss, but the head part is just a cutscene (Because Jonathan couldn’t do anything to save himself) and small unnamed enemies had different ways of hamon attacks to beat them? I would pay literally hundreds for a copy on steam lol.

When the music so good it kills your adoptive brother from the city who kills your dog and eventually your dad by poison and did the same to his father, then proceeds to deny his humanity by putting on your mother’s stone mask who died in a carriage accident, and then you almost kill him by burning yoir house down with him in it, but then he survives and you learn magic air power from a frog punching genuine good guy who helps you learn magic air power by not spilling wine but he dies to an angry giant who kills him with chains after you almost die, then he passes his magic air power to you and you end up making friends with magic air power master and one yells thundercross nuts in your face! But he dies to decapitation and then you chop off your brothers head with a sword a side character gave you, but it breaks, oh no!
Then you marry your girlfriend, have a son named Zombie Meat and then find out your brother isn’t dead so you end up “killing him” but you kill your self too:
"Have a son named Zombie Meat"
That caught me off guard
@@PrixtoTNT lmao I think that was an accident, thanks for reading the whole thing!
I love that when Joseph, Jotaro, Josuke and Giorno fades in at the end, their theme would also appear (End screen videos)
Edit: Also the SCORE, it's 011987 (January 1987) when the manga of JoJo was released
0:20 Kinda sounds like the title screen music from Shovel Knight.
