my mans really spent a good amount of time doing Araki's imagination justice. The points made were concise and flavorful. I believe gravity led me to this video.
I love how JoJo characters will dress in high fashion and strike effeminate, even homoerotic poses but it never makes fun of that. It shows strong, serious, mostly straight male characters present themselves like they’re on a runway and it doesn’t act like that’s somehow a weakness or a bad thing. It’s straight faced and genuine and sincere and that is really god damn cool of Araki
Btw if you don't know, Araki has collabed with brands like Gucci and his artwork was presented in Louvre museum, he's the only mangaka who has achieved this.
Araki's use of pretty much everything- textures, patterns, layers, silhouettes, colors- has nearly always been fresh and creative, even in his more "normal" character designs. It's so clear in his works that fashion is something he is truly passionate about, and it makes me love JoJo all the more for it.
Prosciutto’s outfit is my favorite in the series. I just love how the suit is simultaneously realistic and yet subtlely creative with the details and pattern. It also just suits his character so well
I think my favorite part about Rohans style is that he still has the crop top showing belly even though he doesn't have the same physique as most characters with it. He doesn't have the abs but he still rocks the crop top with his leaner build.
I was so hoping Mista's outfit would be mentioned because, according to Araki himself, he spends the most money on outfits out of all the Passione members
Cool insight - i didn't know that. It's definitely an interesting outfit; all of the elements just didn't do it for me. But I may include him in a follow-up video where I explain how I feel about characters I didn't initially include.
@@XDF Yup I would love that too. You were pretty respectful of looks that didn't work overall but had nice elements (like Melone). Mind you most JOJO parts are *ancient* by fashion standards (part 5 came out in the 90s) so maybe some of these looks worked better in a different era.

Weather Report is indeed wearing a hat, that is a fact stated in the manga itself. However, that tall thing on Telence's head? THAT is actually his hair!
Pucci has perhaps one of the coolest characters designs I’ve ever seen in anime. It’s honest and not over the top yet it expresses so much through older traditional clothing.
Excellent video, I absolutely loved hearing someone in the fashion community giving their perspective on JoJo's excellent character designs. My favorite part of the video was actually a really small detail. When you were talking about Yuya's outfit, and you referred to his scarf as bouffant, and you asked "Do you know what bouffant means?" in like a playful manner, it felt like I went from listening to a content creator on youtube, to a sibling expressing their love for fashion. Loved when your personality really shined through, it'd be awesome to see more moments like that
Omg - I love how much that moment resonated with you! I definitely started getting more comfortable as I was filming. As I get more practice doing these videos - I'm sure there will be more organic moments like that 🥰
@@XDF Agreed; this video could've been so clinical and sterile in its presentation, but you put so much personality into it that made it all the more fun to watch.
As someone who isn't really well versed in fashion, I love the jojolion outfits. The rock humans all have a great style that is striking to even someone like me. I also love Josuke's basic sailor outfit and what I think are high tops, but I can see why some people might not like it. Josefumi's outfit was also really interesting to me
It should be noted that, as far as I'm aware, Araki never designed the outfits with specific colors. You can see it in the only colored part of the manga, the covers. They always have insane colors that are stylish and so fun, which is why the anime often has scenes with completely unique color palletes to highlight certain scenes. I assume Araki had a hand in the official colors and considers those as _the_ colors, but I still think it's really interesting to see the many variants of the same outfit that are all technically official and give of these different amazing vibes
I really appreciate you having the manga and anime side by side for the sake of variety on the boldness of the design on paper to contrast with the smoothness of its animated counterpart, in case that was your idea of course And even tho I'm a plain dude, some jojo fits are indeed wonderful and incite my curiosity
@@XDF I'd call it eccentricity But these outfits also represent the character's personalities And therefore, also characterize their stands, Araki has inspired me to even create, but I digress
I truly admire the JJBA series from the poses and artist/song name choices right down to the fashion. This video just makes me love JJBA even more. You were so detailed and informative about each clothing article that I learned quite a bit. I can’t wait for more videos in this series! Thank you 💕
Love that you dressed the part for the video, really showing that body confidence with the "peek-a-boo" shirt! I'd love a part 2 about the female outfits. Part 6 went off in that regard.
Okay, i soo soo love seeing this in my feed this is my jam!. Your pronunciations are mostly on point. It's funny i think the way you say ceasar is more correct than the way the actors say it in show because none of them give his name that Italian flair. Now that you point out how distracting those patterns are, i can't unsee it. I'd love to see your take on Johnny Joestar's outfit. Maybe learn what didn't vibe with you. Or the other DIO outfit that you did show off except he loses the jacket so it's the same bottoms but with a sleevless black top to show the arms off more. I'd say my favorites that you showed off are Diavolo's and Bruno's because that chest mesh up top is an element i love, and you can see it peaking out of bruno's suit. I would loooove to see the female outfits too. subbed. I hope this video keeps on taking off because you deserve it!
OMG - this comment made my day! Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback, and for taking the time to watch and sub. Definitely doing the Female outfits soonish, and I may do a follow-up video covering some of the honorable mentions (like Jotaro).
I love this video so much! Usually when I see people talk about JoJo, the fashion is regarded as a bit of a side note. I adore you taking the time to actually talk about the fashion and various styles at length. Fantastic work xx
It was fascinating the way you brought attention to the fashion with your point of view. At this point I usually ignore Araki's eccentricities but you show the genius in them and how they inspire people in the modern day. Thank you.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I waited long enough for this kind of fashion criticism on jojo's outfits to appear on my recommendation. This is so fun to watch and I love all of your opinion especially on Rohan because he's my favourite character in terms of his unique style. I also can't wait for your analyze on jojo's female outfit!!
Aahhh - super appreciate such a thoughtful comment 🫶🏽 I didn't realize how much I love talking about this stuff until I made this - glad others like it too
What a fun video! I am so glad youtube randomly recommended it! You're so easy to listen to! I started the video thinking "ah, they'll love Giorno" and left it realising Giorno's probably got one of the weakest styles overall. Thank you for giving me a fresh perspective into appreciating Jojo!
No way, he’s my favorite character design ever! Well, the hair carries the look hard, but the wings on the collar, the ladybugs that also repeat on the shoes, the simplicity, it’s just Great in a simple, yet iconic way
Jojo actually made me think about fashion so much more- I was already an artist but now I enjoy fashion so much. Great video! I'm always a bit hesitant to watch non-anime fans opinions on Jojo because I love it so much but this video was awesome- really made me appreciate all my fav characters designs
Great analysis. Looking further into the characters' designs made me realize how Araki is such a talented an ambitious visionary when it comes to fashion and clothing. No wonder why the franchise made a collab with Gucci. Good video!
finally someone who appreciates Oyecomova's design! I would definitely dress like that irl, if I had the confidence, ngl lol the fashion in jjba series was one of the things what drew me in. though I wouldn't call myself knowledgeable in fashion, but I love the beauty and aesthetic of it so much. btw, your outfit and accessory choice is great as well. thank you for an insightful and awesome video! ☺️
Amazing video!! - So many of these characters I’ve seen a hundred times but never really looked at their outfits like this lol Also can’t believe I missed the heart motif w Giorno and some of the pt 3 antagonists revealing their connection to Dio! Can’t wait for future Jojo fashion analysis videos if you choose to do them!
Glad you enjoyed! I think it's easy to overlook outfit details of animated/video game characters, but I'm amazed at how much these artists really give the designs some thought. I have at least 2 more JoJo fashion video ideas in mind - so on the way eventually.
He took a lot of his inspiration from artist and illustrator Antonio Lopez, He was know for his fashion illustrations from vogue during the 80s. Hirohiko Araki is said to use Lopez's work still as reference.
Honestly babeeeee, I love that you take the time to really look into this subject. You didn’t just take the obvious choices and you obviously did your research because it shows xx keep up the good work
I am so surprised you didn't talk about Yoshikage Kira's outfit, his phase one outfit is pretty standart but has some nice designs, but his phase two outfits is SO nice, especially how the colors compliment his hair color change, and how the black and green tie contrasts with the white and purple.
Excellent video, thank you for all your analysis. I gotta admit that I'm ignorant about the fashion world, but love JoJos and totally dig your explanation. One thing that I find interesting is that, when something seems off to you, there's an in-character explanation that explains it, but it's awesome how you spot these details from a stylistic perspective. For example, Weather's hat is a musical reference to the album cover where a silloutte of a person has this kind of buffalo hat
Appreciate the feedback and insight. I still need to actually invest time in watching the series - but it was fun learning at least a little bit about the characters through my research
I know you'll likely never need to talk about these characters again, but if you do: "Vinegar" is his first name, but he is typically called "Doppio," sounding like Dough-Pee-Oh "Narcisso" goes by his last name as well, "Anasui," pronounced An-Ah-Sue-E As a huge fan of the series for many years it was quite funny to hear you refer to them by first name alone, I never realized someone might instinctually do that. I had to take a second to realize that Vinegar is even technically part of his name. I loved the video though! It's nice to see takes on these outfits that are much better expressed and thought out than Jojo fans typically give. I have a hat collection and I'm trying to get every single Jojo hat in there so I have some stuff that's a bit more "out there." And yes, Weather Report's hat is exactly as dumb to wear as you think it is.
Thanks for the feedback. I figured at least some characters went by their last names. Would probably help if I actually took the time to watch the series in-depth
love the imagination and exploratory nature of fashion in character design. Araki has some beautiful and fun designs and its so very stimulating. the best ideas for me come from experimenting in different mediums of art and I think everyone should be exploring fashion when creating their characters.
I completely agree - experimentation is key in discovering possibilities and especially one-of-kind designs that can really help distinguish a character
Considering you talked about liking jackets that are opened on the bottom, I'm surprised you didn't mention Pannacotta Fugo, he's got a very simple but still cool to look at style imo.
this was a joy to watch! really fun review of what makes jjba's characters so memorable, i especially appreciate that you started off with later parts as that is when i think araki's designs are at their most interesting one thing to note that i find really interesting about jojo as a whole - there is no definitive colors, jojo doesnt have any consistency in color across media and that is an intentional choice! araki uses the black and white element of manga to his advantage and imbudes his designs with many various color combinations on the book cover illustrations/panels this essentially lets you run wild with your color palette and picture a character in however many hues you want
Loved the vid, the whole fashion in jojo thing is sometimes treated like a meme but I am being dead serious when I say I love the fashion and fashion influence in this series!
there's so much to love abt jjba! the music references, the art style, characters, bizzare plots, liking the series can be versatile bc u hav so much to love abt it. im glad more ppl are knowing abt jjba's fashion ^^ arataki uses alot of models ( like western magazines with cool poses ) as references
Great to see someone talk about the fashion of this series. Im not really in to fashion, but i've been wanting to see someone who knows fashion disect it for YEARS! The dream is showing someone the series' fashion blind, but its dope to see someone deep in the franchise do it too cuz it really helps bring out the more obscure designs
I am so happy that I finally found a proper JoJo fashion discussion video, this made me so happy, thank you! And thanks for linking your other JoJo videos in the description, will definitely watch those next
man i did not expect to see one of the oingo boingo brothers on this list, but you surprisingly enough arent wrong with how stylized it is, which i didnt realize before
the fashion in jojo is so fun, I used to draw a lot of the characters for fun and remembered their looks by heart 😁 your look in this video could totally be a jojo look too!
For me, Caesar's outfit is unbeatable, and I love the quiet fury of his character. The kneepads and gloves harken to his boisterous attitude; and the scarf really demonstrates his confidence: The length of such a scarf should usually prove a nuisance, but to Caesar it's effortless. The Jacket also shows the broadness of his shoulders, and the choice of blue really evokes that sense of calm; and the sense of assured strength Caesar holds. Love this video, and your content X, your channel is quality mate.
I love this anime, i'm not really into the fashion world, but i think it's nice to see the imagination and creativity of Araki creating his characters.
Jojo's is such an interesting meeting ground of ideas and cultures You wouldn't find much to talk about in regards to fashion in popular battle shonen that I can think of But Jojo's brings something different to the table, something wonderful
I love it. I watched Jojo because there are so many memes, but then,I caught so deeply invested in everything. Araki truly have passion about what he do, that's amazing. All the details are mesmerizing, IT'S SO GOOOD. Great video,it's amazing how you talk about the details with attention and love. Great video ❤️

As I get more practice doing these videos - I'm sure there will be more organic moments like that 🥰
@@XDF Agreed; this video could've been so clinical and sterile in its presentation, but you put so much personality into it that made it all the more fun to watch.
you deserve so many more views loved this all the way through, and you allowed me to appreciate jojos fashion a thousand times more
I'm so glad you appreciate JoJo fashion as much as I do
As someone who isn't really well versed in fashion, I love the jojolion outfits. The rock humans all have a great style that is striking to even someone like me. I also love Josuke's basic sailor outfit and what I think are high tops, but I can see why some people might not like it. Josefumi's outfit was also really interesting to me
Yes, Jojolion is serving. The protagonists feel a bit standard/basic overall - but still good outfits nonetheless
42 styles in 23 minutes, we love a concise king
Bless 🙌🏽
I really appreciate you having the manga and anime side by side for the sake of variety on the boldness of the design on paper to contrast with the smoothness of its animated counterpart, in case that was your idea of course
And even tho I'm a plain dude, some jojo fits are indeed wonderful and incite my curiosity
Thanks for noticing the details and effort!
And yes, I can't see how anyone could resist at least a few of the jojo looks. Lots of diversity
@@XDF I'd call it eccentricity
But these outfits also represent the character's personalities
And therefore, also characterize their stands, Araki has inspired me to even create, but I digress
THIS is what Jojo youtube needs more of.
Bless 🙌🏽🕺🏽
I truly admire the JJBA series from the poses and artist/song name choices right down to the fashion. This video just makes me love JJBA even more. You were so detailed and informative about each clothing article that I learned quite a bit. I can’t wait for more videos in this series! Thank you 💕
So lovely to hear - thanks for watching and valuing the content
Love that you dressed the part for the video, really showing that body confidence with the "peek-a-boo" shirt! I'd love a part 2 about the female outfits. Part 6 went off in that regard.
Thanks for noticing the outfit. 🙌🏽 And yes, definitely plan on doing female outfits within the next few weeks
@@XDF the triangular cuff on the jacket was the coolest part of the outfit to me
i love the fact that you included anakiss with that iconic outfit
I couldn't resist - it just speaks to me 🥰
Okay, i soo soo love seeing this in my feed this is my jam!.
Definitely doing the Female outfits soonish, and I may do a follow-up video covering some of the honorable mentions (like Jotaro).
love the overall theme of body confidence. also So glad you included rohan. he’s my irl personal fashion icon
Rohan is such a fashion inspiration :)
This is the video I didn't know I needed.
Always appreciated the boldness of JoBro's fashion but lacked the vocabulary to explain it. Good stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this video so much! Usually when I see people talk about JoJo, the fashion is regarded as a bit of a side note. I adore you taking the time to actually talk about the fashion and various styles at length. Fantastic work xx
So lovely to know - very pleased that it was an enjoyable watch
One of my favorite design elements about Rohan is the fact he has so much stuff like buttons, earrings, etc, that are shaped like calligraphy pen tips
Totally agree! Great point on the pen details. Love all of this different outfits 🙌🏽
It was fascinating the way you brought attention to the fashion with your point of view. At this point I usually ignore Araki's eccentricities but you show the genius in them and how they inspire people in the modern day. Thank you.
Glad it could have that impact - thanks for watching
Such an amazing comment - thanks for the support!
Good video!
Thrilled that people appreciate the detail in work like I do. He truly is a talent 🕺🏽
Dude looks like he popped out of the Jojo Manga. Looking good
Lol - thanks a bunch 🕺🏽🙌🏽
@@XDFhonestly I could see you as a minor villain in JoJo lands
nice style
finally someone who appreciates Oyecomova's design! I would definitely dress like that irl, if I had the confidence, ngl lol
the fashion in jjba series was one of the things what drew me in.
though I wouldn't call myself knowledgeable in fashion, but I love the beauty and aesthetic of it so much. btw, your outfit and accessory choice is great as well.
thank you for an insightful and awesome video! ☺️
No problem - so glad you could find value in the video
Amazing video!! - So many of these characters I’ve seen a hundred times but never really looked at their outfits like this lol
Also can’t believe I missed the heart motif w Giorno and some of the pt 3 antagonists revealing their connection to Dio!
I like how Rohan's outfits details are shaped like fountain pen's heads, which he uses to ink his manga
Yes, some great details in his fits ✒️
He took a lot of his inspiration from artist and illustrator Antonio Lopez, He was know for his fashion illustrations from vogue during the 80s. Hirohiko Araki is said to use Lopez's work still as reference.
Nice info - i learned a bit of that from a video on here that dives into some of the background on Araki's design approach. 🙌🏽
@@XDF His work is amazing, very 80s
fr really fantastic concept for a video, and glad to see someone who appreciates the outfits of this eccentric show as much as I.
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch
Honestly babeeeee, I love that you take the time to really look into this subject. You didn’t just take the obvious choices and you obviously did your research because it shows xx keep up the good work
Being honest here, I love that you went in depth with what does work and with what doesn't!
I'm glad you liked the details 🕺🏽
I am so surprised you didn't talk about Yoshikage Kira's outfit, his phase one outfit is pretty standart but has some nice designs, but his phase two outfits is SO nice, especially how the colors compliment his hair color change, and how the black and green tie contrasts with the white and purple.
The fashion in Jojo has always fascinated me, but your thoughtful analysis made it even more interesting. Awesome work here!
Thanks a lot Matt
Excellent video, thank you for all your analysis. I gotta admit that I'm ignorant about the fashion world, but love JoJos and totally dig your explanation.
One thing that I find interesting is that, when something seems off to you, there's an in-character explanation that explains it, but it's awesome how you spot these details from a stylistic perspective. For example, Weather's hat is a musical reference to the album cover where a silloutte of a person has this kind of buffalo hat
Appreciate the feedback and insight. I still need to actually invest time in watching the series - but it was fun learning at least a little bit about the characters through my research
Need more of these! You kept your points so dense but concise, loved this man!
Very much appreciated - thanks dude 🙏🏽
Always fascinating to hear someone talk passionately about stuff I know nothing about
I know you'll likely never need to talk about these characters again, but if you do:
"Vinegar" is his first name, but he is typically called "Doppio," sounding like Dough-Pee-Oh
"Narcisso" goes by his last name as well, "Anasui," pronounced An-Ah-Sue-E
As a huge fan of the series for many years it was quite funny to hear you refer to them by first name alone, I never realized someone might instinctually do that.
Would probably help if I actually took the time to watch the series in-depth
which is pronounced like Ah-Bah-Key-Oh by the way
that doppio pronounciation is definitely off
@@FlourescentPotato no that's right
The anime pronounces it as "Daw-pee-oh" tho
As someone who loves the fashion in jojo, especially part 5, this was an amazing video and really broke down why I love certain outfits !
Awesome - thanks for watching
love the imagination and exploratory nature of fashion in character design.
It's funny you dislike Weather Report's hat; Araki has specifically mentioned it's his favorite design piece in the series.
I thought it was hair
Considering you talked about liking jackets that are opened on the bottom, I'm surprised you didn't mention Pannacotta Fugo, he's got a very simple but still cool to look at style imo.
Can’t believe nobody has made a video like this already 😂 amazing outfit, and amazing video! Can’t wait for the ladies of JJBA someday!
Thanks a bunch! And I just posted the female outfit video :)
this was a joy to watch! really fun review of what makes jjba's characters so memorable, i especially appreciate that you started off with later parts as that is when i think araki's designs are at their most interesting
one thing to note that i find really interesting about jojo as a whole - there is no definitive colors, jojo doesnt have any consistency in color across media and that is an intentional choice! araki uses the black and white element of manga to his advantage and imbudes his designs with many various color combinations on the book cover illustrations/panels
this essentially lets you run wild with your color palette and picture a character in however many hues you want
Glad you enjoyed the video - thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Loved the vid, the whole fashion in jojo thing is sometimes treated like a meme but I am being dead serious when I say I love the fashion and fashion influence in this series!
I agree. While the outfits do lean on the campy side - they're actually genuine works of art IMO, and can easily go down a fashion runway
there's so much to love abt jjba! the music references, the art style, characters, bizzare plots, liking the series can be versatile bc u hav so much to love abt it. im glad more ppl are knowing abt jjba's fashion ^^
arataki uses alot of models ( like western magazines with cool poses ) as references
Couldn't agree more!
I'm still so surprised with how well this video hit. Happy it could entertain folks in a way that they've been wanting.
Never knew I needed to watch someone appreciating and describing Jojo fashion but here I am
Thanks giving the video a shot 👍🏽
I’m pretty impressed with your pronunciations especially with jojolion and it’s characters pretty spot on
Thanks for appreciating the effort :D
watching a connoisseur of a topic I know nothing about gush about elements of it found in something I like is my new favorite pastime
So glad you enjoyed. This took so much work, but it was actually fun, which is what matters most
This just randomly popped in my recommended but you can tell this guy is qualified for this video topic because of his own outfit choice.
Love it - thanks so much for the lovely comment.
I am so happy that I finally found a proper JoJo fashion discussion video, this made me so happy, thank you! And thanks for linking your other JoJo videos in the description, will definitely watch those next
man i did not expect to see one of the oingo boingo brothers on this list, but you surprisingly enough arent wrong with how stylized it is, which i didnt realize before
I'm glad you can see it - sometimes less is more 👌🏽
I love videos over 15 minutes though I usually just listen to them but man, you really got me watching the screen the whole time. Props to you!
Really appreciate that - I'm glad a landed on a format that works for people 🙌🏽
the fashion in jojo is so fun, I used to draw a lot of the characters for fun and remembered their looks by heart 😁 your look in this video could totally be a jojo look too!
Thank for sharing 🙏🏽
For me, Caesar's outfit is unbeatable, and I love the quiet fury of his character.
The kneepads and gloves harken to his boisterous attitude; and the scarf really demonstrates his confidence: The length of such a scarf should usually prove a nuisance, but to Caesar it's effortless.
The Jacket also shows the broadness of his shoulders, and the choice of blue really evokes that sense of calm; and the sense of assured strength Caesar holds.
Love this video, and your content X, your channel is quality mate.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment - i can definitely agree with those points 👍🏽
“It’s giving Hamburglar” is a such a powerful statement, I loved hearing those words
Lol - it had to be said
This isn't the kind of video I thought I'd be into, but I'm glad I gave it a shot because it was super engaging and enjoyable throughout! Great work!
Thanks a lot for watching
You did what a lot of other jojo content dosent do, which is talk about the later parts at all👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 really cool
Imma sub
Awesome - I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for joining the content journey
I love this anime, i'm not really into the fashion world, but i think it's nice to see the imagination and creativity of Araki creating his characters.
Quintessential RUclips content - people talking passionately about things close to them. In here, fashion! And Jojos!
Jojo's is such an interesting meeting ground of ideas and cultures
You wouldn't find much to talk about in regards to fashion in popular battle shonen that I can think of
But Jojo's brings something different to the table, something wonderful
I completely agree!
Oh boy. I think you’ve been chosen by the YT algorithm
I'm just glad this isn't completely flopping 😅
Man analyzing Jojo character's fashions while looking like one himself.
Beautiful
Ayyee - thanks a lot 🙌🏽
Love your first two choices !! Joseph and Caesar definitely are a good start 🤘🏽you should do a series on anime fashion, this was awesome to watch!!
More fashion reviews for anime, TV, video games to come - as long as the ideas keep flowing 🤙🏽
@@XDF yoooo I can’t wait! Followed 🙌🏽
I'd love to see more depth on Rohan Kishibe's wardrobe- he appears in multiple seasons, spin offs and collabs and each time he was a new outfit.
