    I love how this tackles the question in such a realistic, plausible, and hilarious ways.
    "Can Diavolo walk through wall"
    "W H A T ? !"

    • @jacobwansleeben
      @jacobwansleeben 8 месяцев назад +297

      Personally, I see nothing wrong with the idea that skipping through time could allow Diavolo to walk through walls, it's just there's no point in the story where he needs to do this so we never see it.
      I don't believe that he can't move through walls just because they "don't have a soul", as Emporio's ability in part 6 proves that all physical items in the Jojo universe have a soul.
      Speaking of Part 6, the reason why Diavolo doesn't fall through the floor when he uses time-skip is because gravity doesn't exist in skipped time. A main theme of Part 6 is that gravity is a form of fate and King Crimson is a stand about defying fate. Therefore, it makes Diavolo immune to gravity while he's using its ability.

      @mordraug6662 6 месяцев назад +120

      The base itself is not that hard, it is the little details that are hard to explain because we don't see the scenes so we need to theorise based on what is shown elsewhere as Araki wanted to keep Diavolo an Enigma.
      BUT the main reason why it is hard is because of the huge amount of blatant misinfo that exists about KC that many fans still believe and fans that forget or don't pay attention that then spread their misinfo.
      In reality, KC is actually one of the most consistent Stands judging his ability. Believe me, I analysed the crap out of it.
      The problem tho is that it rests on imagining how certain scenes play out, so there is always a bit of plausible/consistent headcanon IF you want to explain every single detail that is not shown directly in a scene.

My headcanon is that Giorno is thinking about releasing Diavolo from the infinite death loop so that he can use it on Pucci to stop the acceleration of the universe, and the conference exists so that just in case Diavolo SOMEHOW figures out a way to not be dead after that, they can know every weakness of the ability and defeat Diavolo without necessarily needing GER. Of course, the conferences would take so long and devolve into so much chaos like this one that they're still arguing about it during the events of Part 6.

      I think it would be more accurate to say annihilated rather than imploded, as Valentine's D4C ostensibly simulates a particle colliding with its anti-particle. Resulting in the complete, however not instant, eradication of both.
      GER should be able to halt and undo near anything save it doesn't happen literally instantly, and even with stuff that does happen instantly that doesn't guarantee GER wouldn't be able to stop it.
      GER works by manipulating reality on an ontological level and prevents things from ever truly happening by reverting all things to 0.
      If you were to think of throwing a punch as going from 0, standing still, to 1, your fist connecting with something GER stops you from ever being able to reach 1. No matter what is done, regardless of any actions anything can be reverted to 0.

Uncreativity to use the ability, stupidity to not realize the implications of SKIPPING TIME, and cockiness to believe that you dont need to think about it much because HELLO, YOU CAN SKIP TIME ITSELF, YOU ARE SKIPPING TIME AND AVOIDING LITERAL GUARANTEED FATE!! Some mafia boss who gets in way over his head with time skip powers could absolutely be seen saying hell just work with his time skipping powers without working it all out. We could see this in dio constantly taking half-measures or cutting what he should do short because he had absolute and total belief in his control over the situation thanks to an ability in the same vein of being able to outright STOP time and do whatever he feels like within it.
      In fact, if it werent for giorno puncturing himself and getting his good ol requiem abilities, diavolo had a more than fair shot at beating our friends

Chariot, he moves in.
      There was not a second- not a thought in his mind, not a split second of belief that epitaph could be denied, that fate could be changed by anyone but him. The way Rohan argues against Giorno really shows how he thinks like a storyteller (being a mangaka and all). Rohan's points mostly come from a Doylist perspective (the perspective of the author of a story, fitting since people often consider Rohan to be Araki's author avatar), while Giorno's come from a Watsonist perspective (the perspective of the in-universe characters).
    This also makes sense because Rohan never met Diavolo and is far removed from GW while Giorno is, well, the main JoJo of said part (though Giorno's personal interactions with Diavolo was minimal, they still share a dynamic as they're both part of Passione and are basically hunting each other).

      For a quick explanation, it refers to two figures related to the Sherlock Holmes stories.
      Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was the author of the Sherlock Holmes stories. So a Doylist explanation looks at how the story looks from the author’s perspective.
      Doctor John Watson is Holmes’s companion and friend in the stories, and the viewpoint character who is usually the one Holmes explains his deductions to. So a Watsonian explanation looks at the story from the perspective of a character in that story.

It's much easier to crochet a piece of clothing (like doppio's sweater) than to make a knife, a gun (not counting bullets) or even a spear. I mean, to be fair, diavolvo restriction is that he can only skip time untill 10 seconds, not that he has to skip time untill 10 seconds. So a valid explanation of this could be that , since the elevator roof isn't even in the manga, Bruno DID have a reaction to diavolo going in to take Trish, then looked to the side to maybe try to find a way to stop the elevator, only for diavolo to time his ability right at the moment he's fully looking over to basically make him forget that he saw diavolo(or in this case, fated diavolo) in the first place
    King crimson also technically has the ability to make people forget about what would happen in the 10 seconds skipped so that could also explain turtlereff stairs scene and abacchios boat scene, both of them would be the one to attempt something very in character, no autopilot, but had that action technically be cancelled due to diavolos correct time skipping/ memory erasing

    • @grillersinstinct
      @grillersinstinct 15 дней назад

      yesss exactly what I was thinking. Diavolo is actually an insidious YTP genius, and the elevator scene’s precision cut is an example of his sentence mixing talent. Bruno staring at the wall could have been the briefest moment in him scanning the room in reaction to the boss’s ambush, and Diavolo skipped to that point to create the illusion of Bruno being unaware a body was severed from the hand he was gripping.
      The animation of the time skips in their later fight in the basement tracing SF’s punches frame-by-frame from KC’s perspective drives this point home for me. Yes, the time skip limit is 10 seconds, but I don’t think KC is necessarily on a 10 second in-universe timer to make actions during skips-he can be deliberate and precise as he watches fate play out in slower than slow-motion.

Of course it’s possible that King Crimson can reach these speeds but so does Sticky Fingers and Bruno’s reaction time to similar attack speeds (Golden Experience). It is possible that Bruno returns to that position once skipped time is over and did not realized that he reacted to King Crimson or Fate Diavolo grabbing Trish, which is possibly why Diavolo decided to do it after using Epitaph.

    • @asianpersuasion4901

    • @DylanYoshi
      @DylanYoshi 8 месяцев назад +13

      The answer is simply that we're seeing the shot from Bruno's perspective and that the elevator has multiple walls that look the same. If Bruno turned to look in the direction that Diavolo came from, he would likely be facing a wall that looks identical to the one he was already looking at, so he wouldn't think it's a different wall. And because the audience shares the same perspective as Bruno during this scene, there's no reason for the audience to see Bruno turning, as Bruno himself does not believe he has turned after forgetting everything that happened during the time skip.
      JoJo does stuff like this a lot, so it's a completely reasonable explanation.

    The stand bullets thing actually makes sense, because stands are the manifestation of the fighting spirit, and therefore definitely count as having souls. • @Naruzakun

      a wall does not move and a body cannot cross a not moving object

      if the wall were to fall on Giorno and Diavolo if KC time skipped Diavolo would not have been damaged but Giorno would have.

      Diavolo is the ultimate representation of fate, if it's willed then it is. Diavolo doesn't think like the average person, he overthinks and underthinks things simaltaneously, he needs to see Trish die which is why he has to do it himself to ease his paranoia, it's why he'd burn an entire village down! but when something hasn't happened before, he won't consider it. He has never lost and thus never will, King Crimson has never needed to change its battlestyle and thus never will. Hell in the final battle he expends all his chances just trying to grab the stand arrow instead of just killing everyone.
      Why is King Crimson so complicated? Because of Diavolo, he's a walking contradiction, for we all know, we may not even truly know King Crimson's true ability as we'll never truly understand Diavolo and thus never will.

      Now imagine you can see the future but can’t change it. You foresee a kid is going to trip on your foot and get ice cream on your new shirt. You can’t avoid this fate by changing your actions as the vision you see already factored in your reaction to it. But you have the ability to skip time. Using this ability you can let the foreseen events all play out without being involved in them. So you skip the next 20 seconds and step out of the kids path and watch as the kid trips on nothing where you foot was supposed to be, falls dropping his ice cream, and apologizes to the air in front of him as if you where standing there before moving on and continuing to walk down the street. Within the time that is skipped, there is no possible scenario where he manages to walk entirely around the wall and end up on the other side, thus, skipping that amount of time WOULDN'T permit him to bypass that wall. For the spear thing, there is actually an answer given in the text, it's just through character instead of through action in the story. While we are never told that Diavolo can't use spears or knives or whatever weird pointy object you want to use in the example, we are shown many times the person of Diavolo, how he thinks, and how he reacts to things going on around him. There is only one time in the entire story (as far as I remember at least) where Diavolo has a moment to reflect on a difficult fight before the final showdown. This is his fight with Risotto. Diavolo had the opportunity to recognize that even with Epitaph, Doppio was struggling against Risotto. However, since it wasn't HIM fighting, he felt as though he could have simply won the fight regardless. And to an extent, he's completely correct. The time he gets to use time skip, Risotto dies. Diavolo has a massive ego which gets in the way of being able to grow as a fighter (on top of him being the kind of person to avoid fighting at all costs, meaning his competence with King Crimson in battle was rather low). People need to keep in mind, Diavolo is NOT DIO. DIO is always looking for new things he can do, he's pushing his limits to further his status as the best so that nobody could dream of challenging him. DIO always believed there was a higher state to reach because of his Heaven plan. DIO knew that he wasn't at his peak yet and was striving for a way to get there. Diavolo, however, ALWAYS thought he was the pinnacle of creation. He believed that there was no way to keep moving up aside from the arrow, an item he required rather than a method or a way of thinking. It's like how someone might lose in a video game and blame hardware instead of recognizing they aren't #1 in the world.
    Also Aerosmith is a manifestation of Narancia's soul, his bullets are part of the soul, so there's that too.
    Either way, minor character analysis of Diavolo kinda solves more issues than I thought it would, but hey, that's the fun of it.

      Araki's not flawless with his powers but it's very apparent he didn't expect people to overanalyze the idea of "skipping time". He started and stopped at "Part 5 is mostly a discussion about how fate works in Jojo"

    • @EditUnivers75
      @EditUnivers75 8 месяцев назад +13

      @@SylentVoidkeeper (death spoilers part 5 but ya know) What you said about fate is absolutely true. I see part 5 as a story that cares a lot about it’s themes. King Crimson is frequently described as “skipping to the result”, and it’s elaborated why that’s so bad in Abacchio’s death scene when he sees his partner again. A man who may never see the results of his investigation, but that continues to seek out justice anyway because as long as he’s working towards it, he’s always moving closer to that ideal. And that’s what life is about, not the results.
      So while my only real question about King Crimson is whether he can ACTUALLY hurt people within skipped time or not, those scenes where he seemingly does become much easier to swallow thinking about it as just skipping to those results, like what the video and numerous others say about “fate Diavalo.” After all, if Diavolo intended to do that, and everyone saw him do it, by skipping time he skips to the result with no work done. And he avoids the consequences of all the characters who would have certainly witnessed it because they don’t have any of the memories of the event after skipped time.

    It took this video for the thought to occur to me that 100% of the confusion around King Crimson's ability stems from the idea that he is able to do things IN ADDITION TO whatever he was fated to do during skipped time.
    If all he did was skip ahead 10 or so seconds to avoid taking damage or prevent being affected by an undesirable outcome, done. Easy. No problems. But the moment launching an attack or taking any action within that window is introduced, it completely falls apart.
    But this also perfectly highlights how divided i am on King Crimson/Diavolo character and concept-wise. Because being able to do something unpredictable within a 10 second window made for some of the coolest moments in all of jojo. And this divide seems to be the place where people kinda decide whether or not they like Diavolo or Golden Wind as a whole.
    Its the focal point/threshold of how high someone is willing to suspend their disbelief in service to an otherwise EXCELLENT mob drama.

I mean, even Pucci has basically the same ability at the end. He just gets very very fast but ultimately, it's the same thing Dio does, because from his perspective the others are barely moving. And while I think Araki can have moments of brilliance, I also think people really overrate him especially when it comes to terms of foresight with abilities. I'm going to imagine an alternate reality where Diavolo does, in deed, use spears. He just has them hidden literally everywhere around him at all times, and he's able to pull them out at whim. It's so consistent and unexpected that everyone thinks it's a stand ability until one day they just start finding spears stuck into bushes, or painted to look like tree branches.

    To add on to the idea of using a spear with King Crimson, another possibility is that Diavolo saw King Crimson as so powerful that he never thought to push it to its limits. Alternatively having a spear or an outfit made of knives might have attracted too much attention.
