F. OPE if NK didn't have a brutal regime then everything would have been great. And I think we all know by now that the US government will do everything within it's power to contain Communism.. Even if it means overthrowing governments and installing someone else by arming rebels.
Ok, so let's break this down. First: Libya, Syria and Iraq were not about fighting communism. This is not about communism, only, it is about world supremacy, and in East Asia, trying to contain China (good luck with that). Second: I know the US is ready to do anything to fight its enemies. Korea and Iran act because the US is not trustworthy. As you said, they'll do whatever pleases them. What I am saying is that it doesn't always work and the world sees right through the american speeches and double standards, when they apply. Third: This is not about "being great" or not, but being realistic. I know the US is hypocritical and all, but let's pretend to be real now. I agree the North Korean government is possibly the worst in the world and it isn't fair to compare it with any other government (even Myanmar)... BUT this is not about bringing democracy or whatever to Korea. For one, I don't think it can be argued that US interventions are good (Afghanistan would have been better if the USSR had won, and Iraq, Syria, Lybia and the Middle East would be better if the americans hadn't intervened directly or at all...). So what about N. Korea? Do you want a war there? Well, it is not my country, not my region, but I'd not want a war in my backyard (let alone when the neighbor has guns pointed at be) just because americans in the other side of the world felt that was necessary. Japan and South Korea obviously don't want to escalate anything, they want (a) guarantees of peace and long lasting stability and (b) a LONG TERM (focus on LONG) plant to deal with the issue. No war, no rebels, no government overthrowing. So, I think the best approach is not trying to turn North Korea into Afghanistan; they, for one, will make sure to raise the costs of any american interference so as to prevent that exactly... and that is what they are doing. Maybe if the US had a better track record, North Korea wouldn't be acting so silly in the world stage. Now, just for a comparison, and assuming you are American, how would you feel if Russia or China tried to do something like that somewhere like Mexico, and then let's say 30 or 40 million Mexicans had to go to the US (like the Syrian refugees crisis) + Mexican guerillas started acting in the South and Southwest of the States (like ISIS or Al-Quaida) + the new mexican government decided it needs nuclear weapons (like N. Korea) + the old mexican army formed a nationalist or religious or ethnic guerrilla in the south or the north of the country (like ISIS) ? @Maykr The victors of WW1 used Trump's method of dealing with Germany. Look where that went. Your argument is false equalization, and a 'post hoc ergo Procter hoc' falacy. China is dominent due to it's greater economic ties, less pushy agenda, and has a very large, large cheap labour force to produce major goods at the time. Also comes into effect is the gullible politicians of the West in general. DPRK does not have the same manpower to put alot of people to work to produce really cheap goods to the same level as china.
@@polarisgemini52 Evidence for that? Ask yourself, who has what to lose. If you do enough research, North Korea has much to lose one their issues are stabilized. Just think, at best their state would start having better food and other stuff for their people, (and their leader gets more fatter I guess), and then these very people lose all that just because they got sanctioned again for invading southwards. That could destabilize the state's ability to be in charge while trying to deal with a revolution. Worse still, they could (including the leader and top generals) could lose their own lives they hold dear. Further China values a space between themselves, and the U.S backed side border wise. As much as I appreciate the memes, I think a lot of people a misunderstanding the idea of strategic patience. In addition, the previous president had pulled away from an already established treaty, then attempted to create there own, only to fail getting anywhere. I think this video was made before it happened, but trump did a little more than what was explained. Trump actually went to north korea, even shook hands with Kim jong un, and then they signed a treaty for north korea to stop nuclear testing, but even though north korea signed it, they still resumed nuclear testing. If im wrong about any of this please let me know
They was no treaties signed in regards to that. They voluntarily stopped nuclear testing and blew up their testing site before the first Trump-Kim talks in order to show sincerity in their part. The second summit between Trump and Kim was supposed to get into specifics about North Korea's denuclearization efforts in return for partial to full lifting of UN sanctions, but Trump walked out of the summit with no treaty. North Korea since then has returned to quietly developing their nukes and launch capabilities, and what they're doing now isn't breaking any promises because no promises were made before Trump put the North Korea issue on hold and got distracted by other things. If Biden returns to Obama's strategy, then it'll be solidify North Korea as an unofficial nuclear power and become a ticking time bomb of complete destabilization of the region until the US belatedly comes back to the table.

@@NavidVasei the fact you try equating doing nothing in terms of foreign affairs to the equivalent of giving a kid the silence treatment is so stupid. The victors of WW1 used Trump's method of dealing with Germany.
Yeah, like they won't try to push against South Korea once they have fully stabilized. It's not that simple.
DPRK replies on them, and since attacking the south could end badly like in 1953, they would not wanna mess with thei only ally that can keep them afloat.
What a fantastic idea. What could possibly go wrong
As much as I appreciate the memes, I think a lot of people a misunderstanding the idea of strategic patience. The past two presidents had both tried and failed to negotiate with North Korea, and obviously war isn't an option. In addition, the previous president had pulled away from an already established treaty, then attempted to create there own, only to fail getting anywhere. It would have been unwise to try and convince NK into entering more negotiations, meaning the best option was to wait and observe North Korea, proving that we are willing to give them freedom and are not a threat, then wait and see what they would do.
Going into Trump's first term Obama left a mess with North Korean relations. We were at our highest tension with them.
@@EdDevil Please actually read what I said. We weren't going to have good relations anyways, the best thing to do would be to allow North Korea to do their own thing, and allow them to come to us.
