Modern Warfare's Nintendo DS Demake

- Modern Warfare was the start of a first person shooter revolution-- but it was also the first of many CoD games on the DS. It's time for Kacey to give these the proper reviews they never get, starting with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Florida man makes call of duty for nintendo DS
The inspiration for the entire “modern warfare” storyline came from Florida man leaving his house
The dog was really eyeing that DS.
She eyes most things. She's a thief. Love her tho.
i remember this! i used to play this over the network thing where two dses could connect to each other even if one person didn't have the game
edit: it's called single cartridge play, okay, i didn't know this
yeah download play was cool
Same, did this back in the day at school when we all waited for class, I'd host for everyone to join. Pretty neat feature imo
Yeah would host games on the bus with single cartridge play. Was a nice way to past the time.
Programming noob here. How does the second ds without the game store the game assets and stuff if it doesn't have the cart?
@@Sh-hg8kf correct me if I'm wrong but I think it downloaded a specific part of the game made for download play, I don't know where it could download it since i don't know if the ds had any sort of memory to save stuff
This is acctually my first Cod i ever played
Same here
Same for me
Srry m8
i’m sorry
Same
It's honestly a little sad to see Pictochat so abandoned
Edit: I have so many likes what is this
Ikr. That stuff was awesome
I just remember spending hours with my brother, just messing around on that chat. It was bad*ss
@@Ironicwaffle9503 same. When my family went traveling, my brother and I would spend hours sending messages and scribbles to eachother
Didn't Nintendo shut it down because some man lured in a little girl and assaulted her?
@@nopebaker4789 I thought it just got old and people flocked to the newest stuff
I played a port of COD4 on a Nokia.
i played mf need for speed carbon on the nokia
I played cs 1.6 on my mom's nokia lol
It was like a weird top down looking game if I remember correctly.
@@idontknow.1080 Yup
I played cyberpunk on my nokia
I remember playing the DS version of COD 4 in 5th grade. Multiplayer was so much fun. I got my DS taken away, because the game has shooting though, lol.
If the school took my ds, I’d smash then shit out of EVERYTHING after I got it. Because 1, That’s MY property, and WHO said you could touch my ds. 2 How am I supposed to know YOU won’t break it, and won’t break it because you don’t want to.
@@sensitiveboi1625 and that’s why children belong in school.
I played it in 4th grade, I stopped because at that time I didn't know what a rendezvous point was. I still tried to get to it but it did nothing but now I realise there could have been some stairs to lead up or down :/
@@sensitiveboi1625 spoiledass kid, its your responsibility to not bring the ds with a shooting game to school if you were in the school long enough to know the policies
@@sensitiveboi1625 you live up to your name lol
the psp battlefront 2 port is pretty much a 1:1 of the orginal
I mean, the PSP is literally a PS2 Mobile
I played that game. The game is the reason why I still believe the lack of the right analog stick is PSP's biggest mistake.
@@emperorfaiz the PSP was better for racing games anyway
I mean, Midnight Club 3, Burnout Legends, Ridge Racer, Gran Turismo, hell, even Toca/DTM Race Driver, all great games for the PSP that are either ports, or (almost) 1:1 copies of PS2 games
Hell, some PSP ports of PS2 games are even better, for example, Motorstorm Artic Edge (the PSP ports has downloadables DLCs, and it has portability)
colin mcrae rally 2005 too. psp version and ps2 is literally the same
Bought a PSVita this month and modded the fuck out of it, OC, better graphics and framerate and I just don't understand why the support ended. That machine was ahead of it's time. One of the Uncharted mission I had to point my camera to a lightsource to see the hidden message in the paper. Like wow
I always liked that they listed inspirational quotes when you died during the campaign
i dont think anti war quotes count as inspirational lmao
One death is a tragedy, a million a statistic
If you want to stay patriotic and make a statement, don't burn the flag - wash it.
This was the first time I ever played call of duty modern warfare.
I remember playing this while my dad played the actual game when i was like 8 bought it at gamestop had fun but now looking back at it now it really looks ass lol
even for ds standards
@@thesmilingvagrants it looked great for ds standards lol
@@alecmartinez2927 well...what do you mean? Do you mean that it looks great for a port of a fairly demanding AAA title on the DS? I could concede that point, but as far as "DS" games like comparing them to the mario games and what not it doesn't look as good as those do. But that's not really a fair comparison since those games were made by nintendo for that system.
Same situation for me only it was my older playing the real game
I had this port back in the day. I traded scribblenauts for it.
I'm still pissed
NGL it looks like goldeneye
I suggest everyone watching this on anything larger than a phone, to scale down the size of your browser to that of the DS (during at least a bit of the gameplay portion). This way you can have a better look at what the graphics really are, as opposed to them being stretched to the size of a tv.
Yeah I was like did it really look that pixalated
@@famousramus2288 Same. But once I made the screen smaller, I was actually really surprised at how good the graphics looked
Hey Kacey, I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your content, it is very well made and edited. I am 12 and aspiring to make movies and RUclips videos and you inspire me. Thanks for the great content!
Being 12 and wanting to do creative works is impressive. Start learning video editing and by the age of 30 you'll be making insane videos!
Dude, learning stuff while you're this young is one of the best things you can do ever. Just make sure you learn what your really love and always be persistent. Sometimes things may seem hard to get or out of reach but nothing in this world is if you try hard enough 👍💜
Fly high dude!
Go for it man. I’ll watch
You've gained the support of the enclave
Im on Board mate
we stand now at the precipice
That we do, but remember that war, war never changes
The fact that this comment has nothing to do with the video or the game almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter
“God bless the USA!”
I used to play this in middle school with my friends, the multi-player was so fun sitting next to your friend across the table from your other friends playing against you.
The pictochat intro killed me. It had no reason to.
But it did.
RIP
This sure is an underrated channel, the quality is at a very high standard for a channel this small in subscribers and the video itself is great. This man deserves more subscribers.

The MP5's model on the DS is at such low fidelity that I went "wait a second that's the half life 1 gun"
I fondly remember playing this as I didn't have cod4 as a kid. Good times
This place holds a special place in my heart even tho it's a far cry from being a good game
This was my first taste of Modern Warfare being like 9 years old lmao

After the DS marathon you should take a look at the wii ports.
the wii ports arent that bad tbh but they're definitely inferior. Something interesting is that black ops had custom crosshairs
@@MarksterC For playing the campaign they are quite decent and do the job. But the online multiplayer had some huge issues.
You seem to forget that the "Crew Expendable" mission in the DS game takes place after two levels of pure chaos.
The game might share the same name as the console/PC legend, but its not meant to be taken as a 100% demake. It is its own thing.
I remember playing this on my 3ds as a kid , used to play online mp and it was awesome even tho I had the ps3 version I got it for Christmas as a gift along with 3D land Good Christmas.
8:44 remember this was meant to be on a much smaller screen than the wii u with a worse back light (I beleive the og ds had worse backlight than the later models) on a portable system which will have to deal with the sun
Kacey still played the game on an actual DS alongside the Wii U for footage. The DS Lite was already out for a year when the game came out.
Also the OG DS's screen isn't that dark. Lite is brighter obviously, but the OG is still perfectly viewable.
@@VexAcer To be fair it's easy to forget how a certain mission looks on the DS, also the OG DS's bottom screen is much dimmer compared to the top screen and yeah in your house it would be easy to see, but in the sun or against the car window that would be difficult to see
The fist ds had a worse screen the even the last gba sp.
A year late, but great video! I actually can't help but love these DS CoD games, you can tell n-Space put a lot of effort into them for such limited hardware.
Also I loved that pictochat intro, it fits so perfectly.
lets do this
yeah
I really enjoy your content! I stumbled across your channel a couple hours ago and I’ve been watching non stop. You deserve more subscribers!
i love the timing of the things you say line up with the in-game things

THIS is a throwback - I played this on the bus with the homies
I remember owning this game and getting stuck on a mission hard way through
Just found your channel 3 days ago, been binge watching a ton of your content! You need more subs hahaha
I like how you used music from Goldeneye: Rogue Agent near the beginning lol. I had no idea a DS port of that game even existed until now.
The videos in this channel seem awesome. I love seeing how devs cut corners when it comes to porting games to underpowered hardware. Subscribed.
0:50 background music from Goldeneye Rogue Agent! Love that game! Love the video! Respect💯
I actually really like the call of duty DS games honestly only played WAW and black ops but they were fun
MW3 was awesome
I had this game. Brings back memories. As a kid for the longest times on one of the last levels I did not realize you had to crouch to proceed.
Wait just realized that's Modern Warfare Modernized the game after this one.
I been wanting to make a video about these little interesting games,im glad to see more people coming to them even if its just curiosity.
- The one thing that the Ds CoD games do have that is impressive is how great the music/theme was.
- The bo1 and mw3 themes for ds are honestly very well done
Brilliant video as always, Kacey!
(Also, thank you for the corgi.)
Nice video! Would like to see the other DS CODs covered in the future
Yo you make some of the best videos I don’t know how you have so little subscribers keep up the good work man
great video! i use to play these games when I was young. I'd love to see an analysis on the other two games :)
This version may not be beloved but it created some insanely fun memories of playing multiplayer death match on our bus everyday. The best part was that not all of us had to have a copy. I kinda doubt another game could have given the same effect for us. The only thing that even came close to this was a few years later when we all played Zombies on our iPod Touches.
Another fantastic video! Looking for ward to more from you Kacey. 🏎
If anyone is wondering what music he used at the end.
Battlefield 3 Close Quarters - Operation 925 Soundtrack
I remember getting it in 3rd-4th grade, and playing it on the bus. Fun as hell. Also was nice when we lost power after a tornado and I was able to keep myself entertained till we got power again
Nice choice of outro music (Close Quarters - BF3 Premium)
Jesus christ the nostalgia attached to these game is crazy though. Every day on the school bus a bunch of friends and I would all go sweaty af on local multiplayer on our DSs. We would play on the way to school, during recess, on the ride home (rural areas so the bus rides were quite long). Hell I haven't even seen any of those kids I used to play with in so many years, I wonder how they're doing... Thanks for bringing up some memories.
I remember playing this game when it came out. Even then I knew it was an imperfect game but it was still crazy seeing an FPS on a handheld back then. Its hard to remember now with super powerful smartphones but having games on the go was still an evolving concept in different genres. If you took a switch to 8 year old me he (I ?) would explode.
Love it, these were my first experiences with COD, this game, the WAW DS, the MW2 DS, and Blacks Ops DS. I would love to see you review the Black ops DS game. The zombies mode on it was my guilty pleasure.
the intro is A1 creativity
i remember playing this with my friend one time. i was like 7 and had no idea what was happening tho lol
I just found you and I’m surprised your not at 200k+ subs
Great video as always Kacey!!
great video ! I also used my Wii U for my Call of Duty DS Retrospective on youtube ! Very accurate emulator !
Yo Kacey, when's the corgi review dropping?
I never thought I’d see anyone do videos over these games. My parents didn’t allow me to play M-Rated games at the time and this was my way of playing the “new” CoDs. I liked the CoD 4 and WaW DS games so much I got the next two (Mobilized and BO) even when I had them on console. I look forward to seeing what you think of the WaW game, because I remember it being my favorite for some reason.
amazing video and well written as always!keep it up kac :)
I missed the premiere but this is great work!
Very well done vid mate. Speaking of handheld games if there’s one I’d recommend trying is Star Wars: The Forced Unleashed on the PSP and see how that compares to the Xbox 360/PS3/PC versions of the game.
I recognize em for Geist, a Prey-like (the 2006 game people prolly forgot about) first-person adventure that I wish for a fanmade remake or whatever for the multiplayer alone XD
Download Play was a godsend in my life. With the few friends I had, even fewer had a DS, and fewer still shared a game with me. When we knew a game had Download Play, it was on every time.
God I love these videos!! Nice job, hope you grow even further girl!!
played the hell out of this in high school. Completed the campaign dozens of time, found so many little tricks and fun bugs.
And must have spent days of my life playing multiplayer with friends.
It's amazing how much fun you can get out of a single game when you're a kid.
Excellent video. 10/10 intro!
Loved the content, subscribed
I had this, and the MW3 and black ops ones
I appreciate your content, keep doing what you’re doing 🤙🏾
My first CoD game was World at War for the DS when I was around 7.
In one of the missions on the dsi port if you ran out of ammo instead of using a knife you use you’re magazine
So underrated, That intro alone makes you a top tier creator.
hey i guess i didnt know but n space made me love games i didnt have a console as a kid so i played cod on the ds then when i got a ps the first game i got was that duke nukem you talked about at the start i loved cod on ds and played with all my older brothers or cousins
holy shit the memories are flooding back, I got this at a carboot sale when I was a kid, this was the first CoD I owned, those end of school year days my mates and I would all bring in our DS's in and play it together XD
my god i remember playing this game lan party style with my older cousin on the Edge64 game catridges you could use to rip roms for DS games. Those were the days.
great video i used to play the cod games on ds when i was a kid before i could talk my parents into getting me the real console version. i used to have fun with it a kids mind is crazy but it was cool
I used to play this game all the time back in 6th and 7th grade. I would play it on the bus with my friends and I beat the campaign during a week when I was sick from school. Nothing like that nowadays unfortunately.
I played the multiplayer of this with my friends when I was younger and it was always so much fun to play it.
I remember beating the game after playing it a lot on vacation and when I was bored. But thankfully I did have a PS3 and PC copy of the game as well.
At least they got that insane holographic fill in. Never understood why that one sight in the regular version zoomed in so much, literally takes up the whole screen
Hey Kacey, love the vid.
About the Modern Warfare DS and its lack of "subtlety", Infinity Ward was changing the story based on the assets right up until release. So I would forgive N Space for not following the pacing mastery Modern Warfare on main consoles had. Beause even in close communication with Infinity Ward, they were probably at a stricter deadline and had way less resources to change pacing at the last minute to follow its mother product.
Dude! I used to hear the main menu theme a lot! Despice being a port l had so many fun memories with this game.
That Pictochat intro brought back memories I thought I’d forgotten
Another wonderful video. Well done.
I still love the way 3D graphics looked on the DS. It had the unfiltered textures like the ps1, but didn't have any distortion. I can say I love the ps1's graphics and the DS's 3d graphics the same amount. They are both super nostalgic to me, and I have a soft spot for low res, pixelated, unfiltered textures and low poly geometry.
Any chance of a Midnight Club PSP (both games) Video?
Yes! Can't wait
This was my first cod. I loved it. Although being at my buddies house trying to show it off while they ignored me to play it on the 360 is a bittersweet memory lol
i remember playing this on the school bus with my friends. fun times
i had modern warfare 3 on the ds because i found it on my school bus. it was the first cod i ever played. i also never had a tv console growing up
Next video idea: Firebrand's Impressive GRID and DiRT 2 DS ports
I played COD4 on DS with Download Play in summer camp as a kid. Good times
As a kid who had both DS call of duty and console ones, they were a great way to play shooters on the go. And I knew it wasn't as good but fun can be had
I didnt played these games, but some games that had online modes on Wii and DS didnt used the Nintendo WFC servers because Nintendo services were very limited in functions, so they used their own servers and matchmaking netcode instead. I know that the CoD games on Wii and Monster Hunter Tri did this.
I’m considering adding the DS CoDs to my collection, never played them before.
Another great video Kac!!!
That intro man..brings back memories.
Finally someone made a video on this holy game
I still have this
Tron Evolution: Battle Grids was one of my favorite games when I was younger
That metroid prime hunter music is doing me in 😭
