      One time I was benching and I couldn’t get the weight up and it was just laying on my chest and two guys had to run over to get it off me hahahahahaha

      Was pulling a weight off the rack and right about the time it came to fully hold on to it since it would no longer be supported by a rack piece... a cute guy walked by, made eye contact with me, I get distracted and BAM...dropped the weight on my foot. Embarrassinggggg

      It can be very intimidating! But once you get over it's off to the races and no turning back! So many great workouts you can do with barbells too. You'll be fine and glad you started 😊

    Unracked too much weight off one side of the barbell at once and the WHOLE THING FLEW OFF THE RACK AND SHATTERED A WALL-SIZED MIRROR IN THE GYM ON A MONDAY AT 5:30pm. You know what that means - everyone was there. 😅😂😭😭😭 glass flew EVERYWHERE

    Falling off the treadmill whilst doing sprints in a busy gym 😣 I started crying from embarrassment, didn't realise I sprained my wrist till later 😂 so embarrassing

    I put too much weight on my heels when I was squatting heavy with a barbell and that whole damn barbell and ME tipped alllllll the way back: booty and whole self was on the floor

    Amennn to the hip thrust issue. Big mistake for me...not making sure my arm pits are shaved before an upper body day. Nothin like looking in the mirror halfway through your workout and there’s a jungle chillin on your armpits

      Holy shit, yess. It happened to me too, and after i realized it, of course one guy from the gym staff decides to correct my shape while doing chest press and be a first row witness to my jungle hair

      not the same but along the same lines - on more than one occasion I’ve warmed up in a hoodie, started to get a good sweat going, taken it off, ended up half way through the workout realizing the hoodie shed and I now have a thick, dark fuzz sticking to my armpits. lesson learned! lol now I always go to the bathroom if I’m going to remove a layer

    One time I was running on the treadmill for almost an hour and I had my headphones on and I don’t know what I was thinking but when I was finished I didn’t think somebody was running on the one next to me and I stepped on their machine and flipped and fell. Every machine was taken. So embarrassing.

      Gymtimidation is REAL! I've been a Fitness Enthusiast for several years and was a personal trainer about 10 years ago. There's a gym in my area that I will not go to just for that reason. A lot of fit folk who come off very elitist. Love my gym and the camaraderie of different folks on different fitness levels at different ages just getting it in!

    Omg girl I haven’t started lifting without my trainer around and I would have 100% been guilty of unloading the weights unevenly! I never even thought about it since we both unload together. Thanks for saving my life! Lol

    5:15 Oof I’ve never thought about that tipping bar when you’re unloading the weights... that bar smacking you in the jaw would be soooo painful

    I went into the gym the other day and thought I was wearing my new leggings instead of my old see through ones...no I was wearing the sea through ones. Started getting going on the squat rack and could see ppl staring like real shocked and it was in that moment I realised...today was not leg day it was arm & back day

    Yes. Number 5 is a winner lol. I’ve also adjusted the weight on a pull up machine and didn’t lift the seat, yeah the seat fell down on my arm. I could seriously be walking around with one arm right now 🤦🏾‍♀️. Thanks for the tips. You’re everything ! ⭐️🎈

    another gym mistake that happened to me recently is to not put on the safety poles (??) on the squat rack. i was squatting and realised on the last rep that i did not have enough strenght to get up. fell right on my face with the babrell on my back... it luckuly didn't hurt, but it was reaaally embarrassing!

    I literally never made that cable machine mistake before ( the weight dropping to the ground ) and after I watched this it happened to me the following day and I just stood there and laughed and thought of this video lol then I did it again... right after lol

    WHIT.. I never comment, but I have to say.. You are my GREATEST inspiration in health & fitness. After a scary c-section with baby #1, I decided to take control of my weight & diet and started researching. Your videos have changed my LIFE! I have endlessly screenshotted all your workouts and made a Workout notes folder in my phone with them. Also because of your fit tips, I'm able to avoid so many mistakes like bad posture and incorrect movements. You are amazing, Whitney, and have changed my life! I love you!

    thank you, very interesting video! I would like to try hip thrust but still feel embarrassed. nobody does it in my gym (at least I never seen anybody doing it) and all benches are at the very masculine area of the gym were guys do pecs and arms stuff...

    Thank you for making this video. Today, my personal trainer introduced me to barbell exercises and I was nervous. I was so glad my trainer was with me to tell me the mistakes I was making. Hopefully I can be confident to do barbell exercises by myself.

      I laugh at all kinds of little mistakes, when people stumble over their words or when they literally stumble! Myself included! I will laugh out loud at myself for doing/saying something silly even though no one else noticed. I don't really see it as immature, I'm just open to the funny! People are funny, I love it. Definitely not laughing at their expense. Just enjoying funny moments. The other night at dinner I wanted to say grasp or grip. Instead what came out was grisp and grap and I kept saying those two words as I was trying to correct myself. It's so funny to me.

    Loved this video( as all the other ones you make)! Def done the cable mistake myself. Could you maybe do a "Barbell For Dummies" video? What exercises to do and how with GOOD FORM in an informative video, not necessarily a workout set? Ive doing your videos for the last 12 weeks and love them. I feel so strong and have lost 14lbs already. Id love to do more of videos that you have with the barbell but I'm still to intimated. Thanks for the great content.

    Very glad I watched this, I always unload one side of the barbell and then the other, luckily I haven’t gotten to a heavy enough weight that the barbell tipping has been a problem but now I’m prepared!

    My gym mistake was not having proper form generally. I was too intimidated and shy to ask gym instructors for help 😢

      It is kinda scary because you think they'll be judging you for being a beginner and/or out of shape. Personally it helped me to think that in exchange the gym staff might be not experienced in things I'm good at.🤷‍♀️
      Still took weeks to be comfortable enough to ask for help when I first started started going to the gym.😅

      Mathilda the instructors at my gym are super cocky. But it was my mistake for not asking for help because I always had lower back pains after I worked out 🥺

      Use low weights or just body weights until u perfect ur form. Trust me makes all the difference. I used to be that person that hurt myself and had to stop working out which sucked. Form is 100% the key to success. Don’t be shy to ask, that’s why they are there

    this was so helpful!! i consider myself pretty fit from playing sports my whole life but i only recently started going to an actual gym for strength training. i def feel like a total noob again! and it doesn't help that i get embarrassed way too easily. would love to see a part 2. and p.s. your IG workouts are SO HELPFUL & MOTIVATING

    Love this video. The cable attachment part, yeah I did that the other day. Had to hold that bar up with my hand (cuz of course I had the height all the way up) while I adjusted the weight.

    Clips: if your doing heavy weight and no one is spotting you DON‘T use clips! You have to be able to let the weight slide of in case something goes wrong and you can’t get the barbell up anymore

      Uhhhh no. Make sure you're squatting in a power/squat rack that has the longer rack at the bottom to catch the weight instead of letting plates fly everywhere.

      MissMariah I think this is referring to bench press. I definitely always use clips for squats, but if I’m doing heavy bench press and I don’t have a spot, sometimes I leave the clips off, just in case I need to dump the weight off my chest.

    Girl! The cable machine!!! I had such a hard time getting over my fear of going to the cable machines because I was so shy when I started going to the gym! I finally got the confidence to go AND THE ATTACHMENT FELL WHEN I ADJUSTED THE WEIGHT AND HIT ME IN THE HEAD!!! Learned that tip the hard way haha love you whit! Xoxo

    Totally had the bench sliding all over when I first started doing hip thrusts 😂 Started place weights behind it as well to stabilized and that helped but seriously so embarrassing at first 🙈
