    So if Mufasa isn't Scar's biological brother, then that makes him illegitimate which makes Simba also illegitimate. Which makes Scar the rightful king and gives him justification for his betrayal of Mufasa. They already destroyed the lore and the whole point of The Lion King and the movie isn't out yet. Don’t know about projection, tbh. It’s more like that’s what is really the deal with American storytelling these days: deconstruction of characters and reinterpreting villains. Nobody’s really allowed to be evil for any of the traditional evil reasons anymore. Nobody’s really allowed to be fully good or doing so for selfless reasons.
      First time they do it, it may be unique enough that it attracts attention. But as typical, movie industry learns the wrong lessons. Now they think doing that to everything is going to be a hit. Nowadays, it’s boring because everyone is doing it.

      _6 New Adventures_ was never canon official anyway. If they actually referenced the books to get the name Taka then that's one thing, but Disney's never considered those stories canon. Technically _The Lion Guard_ is considered "official" canon to the cartoon franchise, and it doesn't look like that's getting referenced in _Mufasa_ either, so they're clearly just making allusions to various things without committing to any major elements therein. It's an alternate universe sorta thing.

      They don't have to make Kovu into Scar's actual son in the live-action because Scar's redesign in the remake makes him look more like a very generic lion just barely distinguishable from Mufasa and adult Simba. @@SamDragontear But losing the visual way to link Kovu to Scar is actually a good thing. The viewers with low attention spans who could miss dialogue or only know Kovu from promotional material would have thought he was Scar's son anyway. The removal of Scar's color scheme in favor of the lions looking more generic and realistic helps remove the implications of incest between Kovu and Kiara. Especially when they keep Simba's Pride's plot the same and have Zira more of a fan of Scar than a lover. But if they retconned Mufasa into being adopted to make Kovu into Scar's actual son, well, not everyone would be seeing the prequel, and there'd be even worse implications in the sequel for those who missed the prequel because those people would still think Scar and Mufasa would be actual brothers. And even if they did include a line of dialogue to acknowledge the prequel's events and mention Mufasa's adoption, people are going to ignore that fact or go with the idea that adopted brothers are still brothers.

      The idea of telling a well-known story from the perspective of the villain was interesting at first. The first time I saw it as a kid was in the book "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs." The problem with Disney now is that they're so low on ideas that whenever they find something that works once, they'll latch onto it and keep rehashing over and over and over, never for a moment taking into account whether or not they're shoehorning an idea into a story where it makes no sense. Another thing worth noting is in the original 1994 Lion King, when Mufasa is confronting Scar about his absence from Simba's presentation, Scar says, "When it comes to brains, I've got the lion's share, but when it comes to brute strength... I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool."
    This line confused fans for many years regarding the legitimacy of Mufasa and Scar's brotherhood, and in the 2019 remake, the writers seemingly clarified the confusion by rewriting Scar's dialogue, with him saying "When it comes to brute strength... I'm afraid my big brother will always rule," more-or-less confirming that Scar and Mufasa are, indeed, biological brothers.

They ignore the socially accepted canon of taka/scar being neglected by his dad Ahadi who constantly breaks his promises to spend quality time with scar, but honours his promises/duty to train Mufasa to be the rightful heir. It also ruins the dynamic between the two brothers because Mufasa was always sympathetic towards Scar, even in those indirect canon books, which then is shown when mufasa tries to save Scar but is unable to which results in him getting his most notable feature, the scar, the new name, reflecting that and being a reminder of his resentment of Mufasa being the older son.

But maybe there is a secret law where the most worthy is chosen by the Great Circle of Life, which Taka must have thought was silly and stupid. Maybe his wanting to let the Hyenas back in was well intended, but the Hyena's were never respectful of the Circle of Life, so it was the reason they were banished. Maybe some of them did, but not enough of them did. Maybe it's less about Bloodlines, and more about hearts, and maybe Taka didn’t understand that, and thought that he had the bloodline, and he brought in Mufasa, and wanted the Hyena's to be welcomed back, so he must be good, at least in his mind. He also must have also been pinning for the throne the whole time with these actions, and basicly using these actions to sort ofm buy his way to the Throne, rather than actually understanding the responsibility of the Throne, and that these actions were suppose to be out of a noble heart, and a selfless soul. He mearly saw these actions as a means to an ultimate goal, to rule over the pridelands as it's king, and maybe he was spoiled and developed an entitlement additude in his princehood, which he never sought to correct within himself, nor did he ever care to. Maybe he had good in him that Mufasa and his parents tried to bring out and encourage, but he was never truely willing to look past himself, and it led him to a path of Evil.

    In a leaked synopsis, we are told that Mufasa and Scar had to flee because of a pride of lions that threatened the existence of their pride. In a NEW PLACE their mutual loyalty will be tested and they will meet new allies. If Mufasa establishes himself as king in a new place and builds his own empire, he will not be a usurper. So... just wait!

  • @Genius.E
    @Genius.E 5 месяцев назад +1

    Any “illegitimacy” backlash is just ridiculous. First, the color of Scar’s fur versus Mufasa’s would’ve normally suggested that Scar would’ve more likely been seen as being higher up in the social hierarchy and potentially the alpha of the pride in real life, barring any fights between the two wherein Mufasa wins. If that never bothered anyone, then why should this? Second, in real life an orphaned lion cub would immediately be killed off. Either by hyenas or the males of the ruling pride. So Mufasa even being allowed to live, let alone going on to become king, shouldn’t be scoffed at. Especially if his ascension is the byproduct of Scar’s vindictiveness. Lastly, there have been plenty of other stories told wherein a rightful child or heir or successor is passed over for or becomes jealous of the relationship between his/her parents and the chosen heir (ex. The House of the Dragon). If those stories could be deemed as acceptable, why can’t this one?

    I hated this idea at first, but I’m warming up to it.
    Mufasa doesn’t need to be the blood heir. I think it works even better tbh. He was so much more competent and beloved as a potential leader than Scar was that Scar’s own parents chose Mufasa to become King. Really hammers down why Scar shouldn’t ever be King while giving him a great reason to be envious enough to kill.
    I’m also glad that this story isn’t a remake. It’s finally something new! Could be interesting and fun if handled correctly. Still hate how bland and unexpressive everything looks in it, though. Live Action without any color changes or expressive features is just bad.

    Usurping I don't think so. I think Mufasa will be adopted by Taka (Scar) and the royal family of the Pride Lands who will raise him as a member of their family. Mufasa will not initially be interested in taking the throne of the Pride Lands, he just wants to live his life, and he would have been happy for Taka when he was announced as the future king but with but to everyone's surprise, Taka's father and king of the Pride Lands will announce that his biological son Taka will not succeed him to the throne. Because he saw that ambition and selfishness reigned in his son's heart and would bring the Pride Lands into chaos, therefore choosing Mufasa who is surprised by this. Taka rightly gets angry and opposes his father saying that he rightfully deserved the throne of the Pride Lands, all his life he had waited for this and he wouldn't get it after efforts made to please him but Taka's father remains firm in his decisions. And in my opinion here comes Scar's slow decline towards jealousy, fomented however by hanging out with Kiros, the character who must appear in this story and who should be the villain. But Mufasa, like his son Simba, refuses to become king and endangers the circle of life.
