Okay guys, I think we need a followup video. This game is fucking weird. So first off, googling the game doesn't get nearly as many results as you would expect. Like they do have a website, but it is not the top result. They don't have their own wikipedia page, but instead share a page with a development studio. So just the whole internet presence around this game is so small. I started looking into this because I was curious about Hannah Stone's voice actress. I figured the reason they would go with someone who has such a strong accent and is uh... well not very good, was because she was just super famous. Like a Gal Gadot kind of thing. So her name is Fee Marie Zimmermann. She is a model, and this game is her only voice acting credit according to IMDB. Her public facebook also doesn't have her doing any VA work prior to this project. Also as far as I can tell she isn't particularly famous in her own right. I just assumed it was someone's girlfriend or something. This game is just... so weird. What is going on with it? It doesn't seem like it was a super small project, but the news around it is non-existent. Who are these people? What is this game?
The MC is modeled after her, so they had her VO her as well, which is kinda silly, but looking through her insta she was pretty proud of the game, so good for her

They don't ever actually stop posting altogether. They just take extended periods of time making new stuff ever so often, so we might go some months without seeing them just like when my father used to run out to buy the milk. It might take awhile but boy is that milk good when it gets here!
I know, right! This is straight out of the _Alan Wake/Until Dawn/Detroit: Become Human_ pretentious "movies pretending to be games" era of gaming of 2010-2017.
Hannah Stone is such a 'action character' name, you could LITERALLY give it to a male character, and you wouldn't even ask why he had a girl's first name.
It just suddenly occurred to me just a minute ago that this game is literally like some devs saw Detroit Become Human and thought to themselves "What if we made this, but with actual gameplay, some fun bombastic PS2 game style rough around the edges voice acting, and then also make it so the story **makes sense** with a well executed twist that **actually** works."
@@Totallynotkyubey Yeah. Once the twist got revealed: that the synths are just ordinary humans who were in desperate situations, who in order to get out of said situations signed up to be indentured servants (or really just slaves for life) with reprogramed memories, it all made sense. It's a story about how perception of reality can be manipulated by society, media, and the government. And how a seemingly perfect miracle product can sometimes turn out to be not so much a "miracle" after all. The layers Stone has to go through to realize that synths are just humans, let alone figure out that she is a synth, is insane. She has to essentially disprove a fundamentally accepted science regarding synths, she has to piece together that her memories aren't real through what other people say, and she repeatedly has to ignore safe and well established options and go with her gut towards the real truth. And all of this is there to show just how hard it is for other synths to come to the same conclusions. The layers of corruption run so deep that a lot of characters can just be synths, people with reprogramed memories designed to do do the bidding of Dauer Synthetics. And really, it manages to actually end up being a successful allegory for slavery in that sense: because it's not just a moral thing, it's about a comprehension of reality. And unlike Detroit Become Human, where the androids are, well, just androids. And we're supposed to just treat them like they're human "because they have emotions" (which repeatedly cause them to harm and kill people). The synths in Wanted Dead actually ARE humans. That is what makes Wanted Dead work as an allegory where Detroit Become Human fails.
Herzog's speech about the ramen is taken from a Japanese film, Tampopo (1985) about a woman learning how to run a ramen shop. It's a fun movie, and has some weird non sequiturs, kinda like this game

Hi, Wisconsinite here. When Hertzog says “I’m from Wisconsin.” He is referring to the Wisconsin past time of going down on sisters. Essentially he’s saying “Beat you to it; how does sloppy seconds taste.”
I'd give them points for originality, but I feel the cliche 'how do you know your not a synth' trope deducts points, especially since they retroactively make it mechanically and philosophically pointless with the 'synths are just humans' twist. Also the plot holes. Feels like it needed another draft.
No, the premise is good. The plot is nonsense. In one scene, they lied and did secret slavery. But in the twist ending, teen mother Stone sells herself as a Synth... so it's public information already!? You can just... sell yourself and become a Synth? It's not an uber-tight secret that no one knows?
@@AusSP Well the guy did say that when people found out they didn't care. This might be more surprising to the main characters since they're all criminals (thus in prision) or have been synths themselves. Meanwhile it's an open secret.
Ok, so the ramen scene isn't actually nonsense, its a reference to the movie Tampopo. The movie is all about the various weird ways people relate to food, and involves a "ramen eating master", giving increasingly convoluted instructions on the "proper" way to eat ramen. In particular the bit about apologizing to the pork is a direct quote from the movie. The problem is, the game references the scene with none of the setup or context, and as a result falls completely flat.

The karaoke scene fascinates me so much because their voices singing sound SO much more natural than anything else in the game. My game theory is the devs went to karaoke with the voice actors and just randomly recorded these two and put it in the game for no reason.

Don’t forget janky dialogue and bizarre cuts.
Basically Detroit: Become Human, but Japan.
The story made sense for you?
The twist is well executed?

@ maybe you should get out more before you shit on a beautiful tradition.
Ok the plot is actually kinda good, the concept of "We didn't invent this we just lied and did slavery" is amazing.
"We just lied and brought back slavery" is the twist of the century
I'd give them points for originality, but I feel the cliche 'how do you know your not a synth' trope deducts points, especially since they retroactively make it mechanically and philosophically pointless with the 'synths are just humans' twist. Also the plot holes. Feels like it needed another draft.
No, the premise is good. The plot is nonsense. In one scene, they lied and did secret slavery. But in the twist ending, teen mother Stone sells herself as a Synth... so it's public information already!? You can just... sell yourself and become a Synth? It's not an uber-tight secret that no one knows?
Right? Under the layers of garbage there's a pretty competent plot.
