The first time I flew the mini 3 pro I had the drone 80 meters behind me, got disorientated and hit the RTH button to bring it back. Next I discovered the radar screen which I find very useful. Line of sight conditions should always be observed, apart from the legal aspect, 2.4 and 5 GHz signals don’t propagate well through trees etc. So this is why free LOS is a must.
Outstanding Nobby. You are the best. I use that red line whenever I feel lets say lost. Sure I can hit the RTH but that's to easy. I've been flying since 2015 and a 107 with a business.
Thanks for a very good demo, Nobby. I almost always use the map view when flying the Mini 2 and Mini 3 Pro. It is interesting to me that when I use the free mapping program-SkyGrid-when flying my Mini 2 that both the Attitude Indicator and Maps View are on my iPhone screen. The Attitude Indicator is in the lower left corner and the Maps View is in the lower right corner. Both of the features are useful, but the Maps View has kept me from falling into a panic on several occasions. Cheers from Wisconsin, U.S.A. Buddy.
Great video! Trying first a Mini 3 PRO and now a Mavic 3 PRO the weak signal indication and loss of the down link happens, often quickly. During some flights just going backwards was not an option. Using the map, following the red line back until full signal.... Very useful instead of panicking. I would say: Use the map function when all signals are full, and check it out!
i have just bought a mini 3 pro after losing a motor on my hubsan mini pro but i have always done that just hit the return to home and when you see it go back to what you were doing a great safety feature havent flown the d j i yet but hope i can do the same with it
I think it would super awesome if Dji added that Home icon (H), that the Avata has, to your video feed screen. So wherever you are you will see that H on your screen. Fly to the H, you golden.
Nice video! I really wasn't sure of a couple of things I was looking at in the map view, now understand. Also, great tip about aligning the control and drone for signal strength.
@@nobby-green I like your videos, down to earth and always giving good tips. Now, if they would just update the crappy way to get maps on the Mini 3 Pro, it would be wonderful! Spoiled with my other drones and having never to concern myself.
@@JohnMerryman Yes it can be a faff... but i just teather my phone to the controller vis hotspot, maps are there instantly all the time. i dont bother trying to pre load them. Have you not tried that?
@@nobby-green Yes, for local flights, just have connected to my iPhone hotspot, works fine. But, if I want to download maps for places I'm going just find it a pain to use the pinch and zoom to get to the location. I would think it would be much easier if there was a search window you could load the area you want. It's sort of a minor issue, but could be made more user friendly. Love the drone as it is so easy to startup and fly.
@@JohnMerryman Totally agree John. but you can do the same when your not flying local, just connect to the wifi and search where you need to go. i dont bother downloading maps. I just turn the hotspot on and they there instantly. you dont need the wifi once you see the maps. 👍
Hi Steve If you fly in a straight line you won’t notice it because it will be underneath the blue flight line. Once you manoeuvre off that line it will appear 👍
Hello again and informative videos thank you 😁 Yet another question please....can you set for the maximum Height for the drone to drop? reason i ask is im out on the boat and dont want it to go into the sea lol. So example if i could set the drone to a certain height say 5ft it wont go below that? Thank you for your time and videos
@@nobby-green Yeah hopefully DJI will fix that cause they gotta know us boaters are out there and dont want it to go into the ocean lol. But thank you for the response.
never thought of this and so used to using my phone and putting it in airplae mode --do you see any problem with downloading maps first? would that even work for the method you describe?
Hi Gus that is how long left you have before your battery with returns to home critical battery level or auto land. If you tap it it will open another pop up to show you all levels. Shown in minutes and seconds. This will alter if you fly further 👍

Awesome Nobby!!! great lesson today. No one has ever said in their so called drone tutorials..really good lesson!!!

Thanks for the demo Nobby, nicely concise info but didn't see an explanation of the icons on the large map view though (apart from erase and "N" ). 👍
Yes I got side tracked. 😁 I have another video covering those 👍

Unfortunately not. 😁 what you can do is set it to hover rather than RTH if you lose signal. Hope this helps 👍
