A #NissanLeaf was one of the very first mass produced #ElectricCars in America and since then, Nissan has produced well over 300,000 units worldwide. The #LeafPlus is Nissan's answer to the longer range EV's with a 62 kWh battery pack and the ability to go up to 226 miles on a full charge. #Nissan also says this is the quickest #Leaf to date with 40% more power and range over the standard model. Авто/Мото
The Nissan Leaf and Hyundai’s EVs are really good values for the money. The fact that this car comes with fast charging as standard is a godsend for consumers.

When this EV has more HP than the base Nissan Altima 2.5
A base Altima is alot cheaper
@@VaunShiz But it's proven to be a POS.
Unfortunately the extra adult weight of the pack negates the hp difference
@@ram64man Its not that much heavier than an altima. It's quicker than a 2.5

With that price NO but Nissan did a fine job producing affordable EV
GREAT review. Quick, thorough and the way you speak leaves no room for “um’s, uh’s & silence” Really enjoyed
I think he summed up the whole Nissan brand while talking about the infotainment: Pretty decent, it’ll get the job done

Glad to see a Wisconsin based test. I have a Leaf Plus, and it does great. Recently Toured Iowa for a college run. Chicago to Iowa city in one run with reserve, over 220 miles with plenty to spare.
Douglas Thompson what was your average speed on that trip? Did you have car in eco mode and use e pedal?
Sofyan and your team are doing great I’m just 12 and you inspire me for test driving cars when I grow up,love cars and I’m a huge fan of you great review.
Enjoyed the review. I just purchased a 2019 Leaf SL Plus in the same color last spring. It was over three years old and had under 7K on the odometer. I have about 10K on it now. Love the car!
Another vid Sofyan is surprised a car has incandescent turn signals 🤯
😂He has the same format Jimmy so you'll always hear about LED lights/lightbulbs or their lack thereof, the door closing sound(solid or "teeny" (his word not mine), the glove box being lined and/or damped, soft touch or cheap feeling dashboard, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto or lack thereof😂😂
Come on family what else am I forgetting?

I think another reason why people will chose this over its competitors is because the leaf is offered everywhere, where most of its competitors like the e-niro and kona are only available in around 12 states.
Darin William exactly! And wreck a Tesla and see how long and expensive it can be. Leaf for me.
The Leaf is much more premium than the Kona or Niro. Plus, ProPilot is one of the best driving aids in the market.
If you looking for a leaf, you can pick up a used one for $7,500 that would have 85% of the goodness of this thing.
Um, have you driven a Leaf that sells for that price. It would be from 2011-2015 probably. The older model Leaf only had a 24kwh battery to start with. The range would be more like 50-60 miles because of battery degradation. If that works for you, then great. It might not work for a lot of people.
I have a 2013 Leaf so I know about the battery issues. It works for us now, but a new one would have a much longer range.
No gas, no squeegee! Sheboygan is known for good brats and good beer!
The more see of the Leaf, the more I am glad I went with the Kona Electric. Very nice color, though!
DOGGO
Kona is an SUV bruh
Leaf is a hatch
@@Windows7Pro2009 marketing semantics aside, they very much compete.
Yeah the kona electric is nice. Too bad its really limited production. THe leaf is more common
@@Windows7Pro2009 Kona is not an SUV no matter how they market it. It is a stylized hatchback.
It charges upto 100 kW not kWh. And 99.9% of your charging today will be 50 kW.
The supplied charger does 110v AND 220v at 6.6kw. Purchased used 40kwh version, love it
Thank You! I test drove a 13 LEAF w/ 34k yesterday. I was so impressed with the ride. I asked the sales person to charge overnight and send me a pic of the charge.....never called me! I'm thinking Leafs are good for 50K and you need to buy battery...price was 8,888 and was immaculate!

Love the bloopers at the end thanks
I have to say I 💚 the outtakes!
No mention that the Leaf still has no active thermal battery management (I.e. liquid heating/cooling), which is a huge turn-off for me.
Agreed. This is the main reason I encourage EV shoppers to avoid the Leaf, unless it's a lease at bargain basement price.
I'm a bit disappointed, as he's been in the EV world long enough to know better.
This was surprising. You’d think they’d learn from the first gen.
Same here and its been that way for all generations of Leaf's. According to Nissan, its the only way to make the car as "cheap and affordable" as possible. When I want to buy a car, I want to own it for at least 10 years or more. With my 600+ mile a week drives for work, I would exceed the warranty and the car itself would be worth dirt with in a couple years due to my commutes. For short drives, this car will do it for alot of people. But for long commuters, not so much. I can't speak for the rest of the country, but where I live, I barely see any Leaf's on the road. But see plenty of Tesla's and Bolts and even though its not a full EV, I see hundreds of Prius's a day. Hopefully as the technology improves, the more affordable EVs will be and Nissan will eventually make a EV that has liquid battery cooling. Think for now, until that happens with all EVs becoming affordable, Hybrids and Plug In Hybrids is where at. I'd love to own a Kia Soul EV that gets the same range as a Kona.
I saw a notch on the right side of the tunnel in the rear. Does it maybe open and have a hidden compartment?
35-44k and you get an interior that’s half as nice as a Honda Fit. It has the acceleration of a golf cart and ridiculously slow charging even on fast charge. I find it super hard to believe they sell 400k a year, smells like a lie to me. At that price point I’d have to put about 200k miles on that car before it made financial sense and that included the tax incentive and that’s if the battery lasted that 200k miles which it won’t.
Interesting fact, the battery for this car is $5500
Randy Carlisle we don’t know the future, it might be reliable
A model 3 is 41k for a base and rwd, and isn't a very luxurious with fake leather. I live in Colorado and even with snow tires it would be difficult getting around. A lot of tesla batteries fail before 100k miles and cost the last I hear 20k. Its a waste also compared to a lexus es350 used and loaded for less than 30k and is pretty much guaranteed to last forever.
they dont sell 400k a year, its 400k overall. listening comprehension is hard
Choosing an EV actually isn't a financial decision for most buyers. It's about going green.
Its almost 2 seconds faster to 60 than a fit. The interior is not half as nice, its 90% as nice. They have sold 400k altogether. Battery failure rate on the Prius is apparently 1-2 % through the life of the car. I have a 2010 Insight right now that has 324K. Battery is fine. I bought it with 208K 3 years ago and have not done a single thing to it. It still has the factory plugs and belts.
I've seen two first gen leafs on CL for under $4500. 60 mile range but it i was thinking about getting one just to fool around with. Let the tree huggers take the hit, nissan is charging because they know the idiots will pay, buy it used.
The leaf plus comes standard with a lvl 2 charger cord that can plug directly into "dryer plug" 240 outlet. Not just a 110 cable.
And that is where it has all other EV's beat
@@Demobot1 I can't tell if you're being serious or not.
@@Bryan46162 Very serious. No other affordable EV comes with a level 2 charger.
@@Demobot1 The actual level 2 charging hardware is easily available online for a couple hundred dollars. Getting the 240v circuit installed is the more expensive part. You would need that no matter what EV you get.
@@TheGerm24 It's still a few hundred dollars saved.
Good review, on point observations
Cloth or alcantara is better than leather imo because you don’t stick and sweat on it when it’s hot and don’t freeze when it’s very cold. They also don’t crack like leather.
Cloth sucks and leather is more comfy. I love in Florida, just keep the sunroof closed and a sunshade up and you're good.
Smell sticks in cloth more than leather, and cloth is way more difficult to clean so cloth interior is a deal breaker in any car (Alcantara same as cloth just little nicer looking)
Because I've had a stroke and the fingers of my right hand are impared, I traded my Tesla S for a Leaf after trying to use the Tesla's 17 inch touchscreen nearly caused me to have an accident (several times). The Leaf's 8 inch screen is much easier to use, and the Leaf has buttons and switches that give tactile feedback. My Leaf is the top of the line with all options, and more nimble than the Tesla S. Fully charged, I start with 252 miles on the battery. NO MONEY CHANGED HANDS. Loving it.
Very knowledgeable guy. The information is built in him
I tell everyone to watch this channel and Alex on autos to see every material. From Doors, dash, and everything else. Rather it’s hard or soft is a big deal to me and I’m so happy you do that in every video.
I am not a Tesla Fanboy, but the Tesla Model 3 has got a beautiful and crisp design, the only caveat being the grille-less front end. I'm also not a big fan of the interior of the model 3, I think it's way too plain looking.
I just wish the Plus model would have some design differences than the standard leaf. Maybe some LED turn signals or new rims

Strictly speaking it's kWh. But still if a reviewer kept saying a car had 100 hp per hour and had 800 kph of range they would be laughed at. Same here at this point

It used to be alright when the Leaf was all by itself as the only mass production EV. But now with all the competition around, it's very difficult to justify the price of this car. Here in the UK, a base *Leaf e+ Tekna* with a 62KWh battery will set you back £35,895! And if you tick a few of the options and accessories, (Propilot Park Assist, Ambient Lights, Bumper Protection, LED Fogs, Premium Design Pack), the price jumps to *£38,604.55* ! This is basically *Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus* money for a car with cheaper interior trim, less power, and less range. A base Model 3 Standard Range Plus without the Full Self-Driving Capability costs £38,900. And if you ask me, I would quietly say the Model 3 is better looking than the Nissan Leaf as well. You really need to be a staunch Nissan Leaf fan in order to be convinced to buy this car. If a fully loaded Nissan Leaf+ cost under £30,000, it would definitely be the car for the masses. And more drivers would most definitely consider it. But right now it's just too expensive for what it is. It is not value for money like it used to be at all. It's not surprising that Nissan Leaf sales are falling.
Nice Review Of 2019 Nissan Leaf. 😁
I wish these vehicles would reach 300 Miles per charge, that would be awesome!

Nissan has an Electric crossover coming next year on a new platform. Will be based on the IMx concept.
I test drove this same model last week in central Florida. It was about 100 degrees outside with heat index around 110. The air conditioning could not keep the interior cool at all. We ended up just putting the windows down and getting back to the dealership asap.
i really like my leaf 62kwh no problem and 2000km + run now

Do the seats have lumbar support?
I love the look of the new Leaf but my 2013 Nissan Leaf is incredibly versatile because the hatch opens with a huge opening. With the seats flattened I can move a small sofa by pushing the front seats forward. It is incredible.
That's the SV leaf and ProPilot comes on SV models as an option. My current 18 Leaf SV has ProPilot
how about if someone wants to buy an extra battery to extend the range ?
Charging speed and network are critical, and yet they're given the briefest of coverage. You should know this as a Model 3 owner. Does the navigation route you via charging stops? How many charging stops are needed and how much time will they take for an example trip, such as LA to Las Vegas and back? How many stalls are there at each site that provide the kW needed to achieve this?

As you can see, it makes a huge difference!
You should mention in terms of the DC 100 kW that in US there are no CHAdeMO stations to support 100kW. All of them are 50kW at the best condition would deliver 45kW peak for short period of time. At the best you can achive 20kWh for 30 min charge.
He's in Silent Hill
Nissan doesn't help its case by having a non liquid cooled battery and a chademo port.
I very much agree
Yes, and that is what keeps me from going with this car. I live in a hot climate and not having a thermally managed battery pack is not ideal. The good news is that second-hand Leafs are extremely cheap!
They use a fan with air conditioning. And the battery is a brand new model (probably optimized for cooling). It seems to be sufficient and thermal buildup is apparently very well controlled during charging & long trips (see videos from Bjorn Nyland)
I heard from a video that Nissan said it doesn't need it but idk. 🤷
@@bloopbloop2019 I was wrong, apparently! A few days after my previous reply I found info regarding tweets from Nissan executives who stated that there was fan air cooling like their nv200 minivan but apparently it was a mistake. So the 62 kwh has structural and chemistry changes to better handle heat, but not fan. Toghether with its upgraded capacity, it apparently does pretty well (though not as well as liquid cooling). Maybe not the best choice for people who need to make frequent very long trips with multiple sequential fast DC charging in hot climates. If level 2 is used most of the time with some fast DC maxed at 80% it is a viable choice, a simpler design (no risk of catastrophic failure due to leaks, and lower costs of reparations).
Great review as always. I'm still waiting for Honda's true EV offering for the US.
Is there a spare tire?
Was that a lead acid battery in the engine compartment? Why?
All EVs have them. The 12v battery is used to engage the higher voltage traction battery. This is a safety feature.
We need to start the videos with the blooper reel first, please. 🤪
that was the same questioned I wanted answered too
What car do you drive?
Quality over quantity!! You’ve called this an SL and SV many times in the video... views from trunk were very cloudy! I would rather see one video a week or every two weeks rather than misleading reviews!!
Good vehicle for schoolers to play with
Is it parfait one for taxi??
I love the 62kwh
I like the new Leaf but Nissan needs to step it up and fix rapid gate. Why does Nissan always stop short? This doesn’t even come close to a Tesla with V3 Supercharging or Ionity charging.
I like this car, it looks better than the 1st gen, it also has better range. I never expected to see an electric car in my country, it's not a Leaf but a Hyundai Ionic. I think is the only electric car
Waaaaaay better than the previous leaf I don’t hate this one. Would still for sure take a Tesla 3 though especially considering its only about 2k more

You didn't review the map pockets! DOWNVOTED!!!!
Is the Nissan Leaf more reliable than Tesla? I kind of like Tesla but I have heard they do not have the best reliability.
I’m a Tesla Model 3 owner, so take that for what you will, but the entire drivetrain and battery of the car is rated for over one million miles, and will most likely outlive the body of the vehicle. Most electric vehicles are extremely reliable, because they only have about 20 moving parts. I would say the Tesla is more reliable only because of the more advanced and larger battery in the car, ensuring a longer life of the battery itself. As you charge and discharge the battery, it degrades, just like a phone. Having a larger battery can minimize these effects. All-in-all, both vehicles are sure to last quite a while.
Nissan Leaf has a bad track record for battery longevity. Of course this latest version is too new to know, but it's a big concern, as they continue to use passive air cooling for their battery packs, where Tesla and most others use active glycol liquid thermal management.
Virus_City The batteries do not last that long. More like one thousand charge cycles. It is so cost prohibitive to replace them as well, which is why you don’t see 200k mile EV’s being sold anywhere. Hopefully battery tech will improve and/or prices go down.
Peter Epstein All EV’s have very poor battery longevity. It’s just a fact.
Hogh308 Well, I don’t think that is entirely truthful. Tesla has a couple vehicles with 400K+ miles on them that still work just fine, and many vehicles over 250K miles. These vehicles have been proven in the real world to last a very long time.
Leaf still has only passive battery cooling (i.e. lower charging speeds and very likely comparatively high battery degradation)...which makes it a no-go in my book. I like the battery size, though. If they can make one with liquid based battery temperature management then it'll be a real contender.
It's more of a no go the hotter the climate of where you live. It's not awful in Ireland where wether is about ideal but in Arizona hell no.
@@MrConor159 Well, these guys tried it out on german roads and a roadtrip...the charge rate just drops into the abbyss as soon as the battery is stressed even a bit (20-30kW) which means 1.5 hours each charge stop on a roadtrip. That's just not acceptable. It makes no sense to have a 62kW battery and then give it charging specs that mean you can only use it as a city car.
ruclips.net/video/sHS2LPNo8VQ/видео.html
Why do they make you press the brake to start the car?
Maybe so only someone in the driver's seat can start the car.
My guess would be to prevent accidental starting.
I love the 2019 Nissan Leaf, I love Electric cars! I want a Mercedes EQC, it’s Mercedes first Electric car!
Darrion Tunstall actually the B250e is the first Mercedes electric car
Eze O. Ok thanks, I did not know that
Eze O. Someone in my small ass town in Indiana (less than 15k people) had a B250e for a few years. Always made me happy when I saw it. It was so odd seeing a B-Class in the US.
Tyler Beeson, it must be extremely noticeable in a town. However, I live in Queens New York so it's hard to see one. But it's a really good car for city and small towns. Not the best for rural communities.
Plz review the Kona EV!
2:03 -- 100 kilowatt, not 100 kilowatt-hours. This is like confusing speed with distance.
Can you review the 2020 Land Rover Defender
The reviews of the 2019 leaf for Europe have 360 cam when using the parking feature. No 360 cam at all or just in that mode? Europe only options? And I'm choosing the leaf because of the #epedal, it's legit a game changer and looks better than anything Tesla IMHO. Plus, I dont need fancy, I want easy, fun and reliable. Leaf all the way!
those batteries really do increase the weight a lot! 580 more pounds than 2016 nissan leaf.
When it accelerated it almost gave me my virginity back XD
“now this one being the SL trim... Fuck it’s a SV” lmao
No crazy lease offers. No sub 20K (after Federal Tax credit) sales on these. You've seen the sub 20K Leaf S 24kWh at Costco several years ago. You didn't mention the non-existent battery thermal management. If you live in a hot climate & DC fast charge often you will notice this deficiency. The only Mitsu uses and Tesla (with an adapter) CHAdeMO charging standard in the US. Upper trims still have the Bose sub-woofer location. Upper trims also have reduced range due to more weight. You now need to use Leaf Spy to see the battery health.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
You reviewing an SL or SV, you said both multiple times.

Most the older leafs had quick charge. I had a 2017 for the last 2 1/2 years. I just bought a 2020 Leaf Plus. More changes than you can cover. Car is heavier, wider, not built as well as the 2017.
The recharge times take too long. These are no substitutes for gas engined cars, but make nice second vehicles for in city driving.
And in 1900 many felt that there were "no substitutes" for horse drawn vehicles. Twenty years later horses were mainly pets for the rich.

It will not charge up to 100 killowatt hours because it only has a 62 killowatt hour pack, so 62 killowatt hours is the most it can charge up to...because that's what the battery holds.
It can charge at up to a rate of 100 killowatts, but it will NOT charge up to 100 killowatt hours...you'd need a 100kwh pack to do that.
Sick of going to the gas pump. I want a economy electric just for commuting. ~50 miles a day round trip. This seems too cheap tho.. Not a nice place to be for a few hours every week..
Good. But it's not as big or spacious as the Niro. Not as premium either, in my opinion.
Honestly, I don't care about the battery cooling stuff, since I don't fast charge often and I live in a temperate climate. And exterior is very pleasant on the eyes. They definitely got that part right. But the cheapy interior does turn me off. Compare this to the Murano, and it's just sad.
It's so cute!!!! 😍🥰
