You are very good illustrator; I learn and enjoy your video. Thank you for sharing.
One of the best detailed video 👍 what more can you expect from a top class video
Thanks for taking the time to make this. Im about to do this for my 2005 tdi and it nice to see all the little details you add. i feel more ready for the job.
How'd it go?
man you have just saved my ass . taking the pin out aint what is specified by vw but hell yeah a lot easier...many thanks
very good illustration, thank you so much
absolutely brill video, I was really struggling with the tensioner, seems easy to put on but i count wrap my head on how it worked. it has a large spring inside the tensioner that didn't seem to do anything, the instructions said it was an automatic tensioner (this means to me that the spring applies the pressure on the belt ) in reality it is a manual tensioner that has an indicator. the secret spring only moves the tension indicator to tell YOU were and when to manually tighten the stud bolt that the hole tensioner sits on.
masive help chers Reece
Reece Manifold - totally agreed! That tensioner is so tricky that it took us like 20 mins just to figure out that you need to counter hold (manually) in place then tighten. This video saved the day!
Best timing video ever, thanks for such amazing skills and sharing your knowledge with us may God bless you sir....
Instablaster...
This is the best tutorial out there 👍
Tensioner can be released and retained into position using specific tooling. According to VAG procedure the camshaft sprocket does not need to be removed.
good video. there a easy belt to change.I did one there a few weeks back. handy to work on.
You guys are legend!
Use only for SOHC PD era TDI engines. That's around 2004-2006. See my site for other years.
Thanks for the information, please can you confirm for 1.9TDI 2008 model whether its the same as above?
Is it left or right?the hole?
On Tdc What position are the camshaft lobe on cilinder 1 are they point up like a V and the camshaft front notch witch the hub connect on it right on the top?
what attachement did you use on the ratchet to go in the wholes of the tensioner to turn it?
Thank you so much...priceless video!
Do you have a similar video for the VW AXR 1.9tdi engine in a 2006 Polo?
why would you remove the camshaft gear when the belt tensioner is spring loaded. its so much easier to remove and install using the pin in the belt tensioner. fine timing adjustment is likely to be required using this method which is only possible with VCDS.
Another good video Chitty, the forum has gone crap since you sold it, the TDI Wiki link doesn't work now
thanks men well done nice vdo
Have you ever changed the m8 m10 tensioner thread on these engines
thanks
It was on the site, but when i checked today the page is not loading.......
Nice
can the timing affect the performance of a vehicle.
Yes, very much so, but it won't just fix every engine problem. Bad timing can cause poor fuel efficiency, throttle response, and cause problems like cylinder misfires (at least in non-diesel engines).
especialy on this type of engine!Injectors wont work properly if timing is wrong!
What happens if you turn the motor over at the camshaft?
If you’re turning it over at the camshaft turn counter clockwise. I wouldn’t turn it over at the camshaft unless you plan on replacing your tensioner as it puts extra stress on it.
my car start hardly in the morning and get a white smoke with low performance on road all that can be refered to belt?
Torsion value not fine turned
How many miles/kms? It’s probably a bad cam.
what are the torque specs?
taking the cam locking pin out is really bad advice
No it isnt, as long as it goes back in before you tension the belt it wont be a problem. I have done hundreds of them like this.
@@TrueBlueEG8 yes it is a bad idea - why do you think the locking tool exists. He didn't need to remove the cam pulley either. belt would have slid off easily at the water pump at this point.
@imgone you stfu dh
Would this be essentially the same for the BHW?
yes
Which engine code? AJM, AUY?
Bew
Any thoughts on this?
I've just done the timing belt, engine looks same as this one, and now van wont start.
Turns over normal, but doesn't fire. Seems like it's not getting diesel.
I Locked the crank and cam as shown.
Please help :(
Did you sort this out? having the same issue with a 1.9 TDI Jetta, timing marks all line up and turns over but wont fire up.
These aren’t the nicest of belts to do, the tensioner having a lip on it makes getting the belt on difficult
vip
use branded camera
Next time try to position the camera in a way it's not annoying for the viewers🙏🏽
That's some sloppy workmanship really not sure if telling people to remove the cam pin out half way through the job
Useless video, most important this guy does not mention. Timing marks !!!!!
or torque values on anything other than the water pump.
Blah blah just make your marks and move on
Very bad advice to removed cam comletely. NEVER EVER do this!!!
Dude if your cam is shot it needs to Be removed to replace it. I’m doing mine right now. I took the engine apart without the locking tools as you really don’t need them to disassemble and replace the cam. I did buy them and am using to reinstall the timing belt since I want to be exact the first time. I could have done it without them though. Just have to watch the marks.
Horor...bad job..👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
