Same thing happened on my engine, right timing chain guide snapped in a half. Thankfully my engine had no other damage and I changed whole timing chain set with oil pump.
Making chain guides out of brittle plastic, what could possibly go wrong? 😂 A great job sir and a really interesting watch, I had a similar job done recently on my 1.4 TSI. Chain had jumped but by some miracle no bent valves… had it overhauled in the end due to damaged ring lands and worn oil control rings on the pistons.
Any chance you could list the parts you fitted? Obviously it was more than you captured in the excellent film. I'll be attempting the exact same job on a 2008 car with 180k miles. The previous owner didn't service it for 90k miles!! I've picked it up for free, so planning on changing things that will go in the next 50k miles anyway.
Hello, I got a complete head set, which includes all gaskets seals and bolts. Water pump, aux belts and I replaced the turbo core. Oil and filter. Parts wise not that bad was just labour intense
Hi friend, what a great job you do. What mileage does this GOLF have when you repaired it? How is the belt on the water pump that connects to the supercharger released? Regards.
Hey, great job and great video... thanks for posting! Quick question - just about to do same job and cant figure out how to remove crankshaft sprocket? How do you hold whilst undoing the centre bolt? Seen various tools for this but all seem to relate to pulley for belt, not sprockets for chain.
Hmmm. maybe Ive figured this out. Looks like the same bolt holds the pulley outside the chain cover, and the crankshaft sprocket inside the casing. So after setting the timing, you have to replace the chain cover without the centre bolt holding the crankshaft sprocket??? Does it just rely on the little lug on the back of the sprocket to stop it rotating??

Great video, really helpful to see the process. Can i ask how much was it for the parts to do this please?
Can you help ' I have a VW golf mk 5 ' 1.4 tsi GT . I have had my engine management light come on ' I called RAC out , and read my fault codes, and he said it's fuel pressure regulator ( N276 ) mechanical P2293 Intermittent . Other fault was boost pressure control valve ( N249 ) mechanical malfunction ( P2261 ) intermittent. The car has not got full power , I am worried if the cam chain will jump the teeth if I don't get the job done soon . Also where is the fuel regulator and the fuel pressure control valve and are these jobs easy to do . If you can help i would really appreciate it 🙏
wow just wow amazing job with that. Quite convenient I actually have this exact issue and need this job done to my car as well VW Golf mk6 1.4 TDI engine as well. Looks like it took you quite a while. What do you reckon they would charge me at the shop for this job? I would take it on myself if I had a drive or garage but lots of tools needed to purchase I'm just a novice
So how did u install the intake runner flap? flap up with something to hold it in that position? as i have a error on mine "stuck open" and can you pls provide the steps for adaptations BLG engine code.
Ah you’ve probably tightened it down on the flaps, just take it back off make sure they are not bent and on the side pull the actuator in as you place it onto the block that will prevent getting them stuck
@@themobilemechanic1992 Managed to take it of still the same issue possible the solenoid of the Diaphragm is toast. having this issue for a year now. Based in SA.
30:20 Erm, no. These engines you need to measure the TDC with a scope in the cylinders to time them correctly, otherwise it aint gonna last long 😂 But sure for other engines its the way to go!
Thanks for the feedback Daniel, after doing 100’s of these and checking with a DTI gauge after, I found every single one bang on so I tend not to use it unless I’m unsure which would be rare. Everyone’s got there own way of doing things though 🤙🏼
@@themobilemechanic1992 If you can get the EA111 bang on you are a wizard! Great job getting it running again. Hopefully the costumer will take great care of her!

I know poor design isn’t it. Always seems to be the guides. Yeh I’ve been lucky with a few engines like that
Hi mate nice work. Can you tell me are the valves and rockers automatically hydraulic adjusted? Or one size fits all with these engines?

Hello, it had roughly 160k on it from memory. It is on a tensioner it’s a bit awkward to do 😂
Was it 160 kilometers?
Thank you very much for your videos. Would you please tell us where the power steering reservoir is located.

Thankyou. I think in total was around £350 in parts including turbo core I replaced.
@themobilemechanic1992 thank you, I might be having to do get the same job done on an Eos so good to know an idea of costs for parts
Did a opel 3.0 valve job recently. Car was $250.

Depending on the garage would imagine £1,500 ish. But a garage would likely just advise to replace then engine
Brave with that. I'd never lap valves myself no point better of dropp head off for full job in machine shop.
@@Milosz9 I’ve never had an issue with doing it myself but if the seats was damaged I’d of done that.

I do this in my own garage or side of the road if doesn’t fit in the garage
how many miles was the engine on
160k I think from memory
why did it smoke a little?
Just burning off the oil etc from the rebuild. Not uncommon clears after a couple minute
