    The part you started the engine at 53:44, the tapping sound 3 seconds from start I have that too, I thought my car needs changing of the chain tensioner, but after you’ve changed the chain and tensioner, it still produces that sound. So I’m guessing that tapping sound at start is normal?

Thanks in advance

      Thanks mate.. have you tried to take the sloppiness out by turning back the cams? (from cam bolts) If you can get the tool into place with slight pressure pushing it in and get one cam to line up, then turn the other cam slightly so you can insert the tool fully into place. Hope this helps.

    And which step did you tighten the camshaft bolts to the camshaft gears?

      @iAutoTech  11 месяцев назад +2

      Hi the steps I followed was make sure timing tools are in place , install new chain and pull the tensioner pin and then slightly tighten the bolts (cam) while timing tools are in place and then turn engine to check timing. If timing marks all line up after x2 turns (put timing tools back in place) then tighten bolts to the correct torque settings. Hope that helps

      This info I got from Haynes manual for cam torques
      Tighten the inlet camshaft (40Nm)
      Tighten the exhaust (50Nm)
      Then check timing and if the timing is correct then tighten (90°) for both pulleys.

    Good morning, ask. At the tip of the crankshaft, apart from the sprocket with the teeth where the distribution chain goes, the cylindrical casauillo with its oring internally, the timing belt and the pulley for the accessory belt. DOES IT HAVE 2 WASHERS? When disassembling I did not realize and I only have 2 washers but they are equal to each other, but the detail is that the external dianeting of the washer is the same as that of the cylindrical bushing, but the internal diameter is larger than the diameter of the tip of the crankshaft remaining with clearance. In one part of the manual there is a breakdown and it does not include the 2 washers and in another part of the manual there is a breakdown with the 2 washers but these are 2 washers of different sizes from each other, and the title is written as "repair kit "This washer is diamond coated

    nice video, am planning on doing this myself next week with the same FAI timing kit. couple of questions: did you have to drain the coolant for this job and if so how easy is it to refill and bleed the system? also do you know what type and size of socket you need for turning the crankshaft? thanks

    • @M4ddTr4xx
      @M4ddTr4xx Год назад +6

      Coolant has to be drained (you'll remove the water pump to access 2 allen key bolts).
      Be careful tho, I managed to kill one of the torx screws (since I didn't have any torq T wrench I just used a ratchet and socket).
      This happened due to being angled on the bolt because of the ratchet I used.
      Another piece of advice. The lower coolant hose attached to oil pan on the chain side will NOT drain all of it, once you unscrew the waterpump, the rest will flow out.
      With a good OBD device you can start a bleeding procedure, or you can do it the old school way: turn up the heater and let your engine idle for a while, you'll see the level dropping in no time.
      it's a multisocket 21mm for the crankshaft, follow the video every step.
      At first I thought the crankshaft locking pin was locking the crankshaft at TDC, but this is not the case (for me at least),
      this pin is only used to remove the crankshaft pulley.

      @iAutoTech  Год назад +1

      @slimegremlin2304
      Thanks for the comment. I didn’t drain the coolant, just took the pipe of the radiator at 2:39 and that’s all the coolant that came out and just topped it up at the end. @trekker6981 At last! I've watched several videos on this timing chain replacement and you're the first I've read who actually mentions this. I assume it is like putting just a new chain on old bike sprockets which was always a no-no to me. seems i will be replacing oil pump chain at the same time as that adage works other way round.

      Tighten the inlet camshaft (40Nm)
      Tighten the exhaust (50Nm)
