Seat Ibiza front coil spring replacement. I would have preferred to remove the complete hub but I didn’t have the tools so had to do without.

Had a rattle sound from the timing chain when starting the car. Timing chain was stretched as shown in the video.

    Howsit, our mechinic didn't loosen the camshaft when he changed the chain. You think that could have been the reason why theres a misfire?

      if it’s misfiring after Timing chain replacement then most likely the timings out, if the person hasn’t loosen the cams.

    Great video. I'm about to do the same on my Audi 1.4. Out of interest, do you need to remove both sprockets to get the chain on or can you leave them on? Is it to replace the bolts? I want to disturb as little as possible. Thanks

      Thank you. Iv replaced both cam sprockets that’s why iv removed them. If you don’t want to replace them then you still need to loosen the bolts to tension the chain. (Both sprockets are free spinning).

      It’s free spinning pulleys.

    Good video, but remember to tighten the bolts of both camshaft sprockets, otherwise than with your fingers!

    Quick question, did you drain both the power steering fluid and the coolant before disconnecting those reservoirs? couldn't you technically just unscrew them and move them out of the way? Or is that wishful thinking?

      You don’t need to drain the power steering fluid and for the coolant just remove the coolant pipes out of the way (some coolant wil come out, just top it up when done)

    hey! i must do this job on my Golf now as the timing chain jumped under a inspection when the mekanic tried the chain in reverse. but the question is : what you are doing with this preassure clock? is it for meassuring the preassure under load or? how do i find the zero on the crankshaft? ty! and great vid

      The pressure tool your referring to just shows no1 piston at TDC (TopDeadCentre) i will try and make a demo video

    Just imagine that you sell one milion cars. Designing them so they break. Making repairs very difficult. Theres a very very high chance that the car will end up in a repair shop connected yo the brand of the car. So much money to be made...

      120k km or something depends tsi engines 2009 till 2012 maby efter 60k km depends if you do al your services

    why were timing chains introduced if they too have to be replaced like timing belts? with belts it was better as there was an interval on which they ought to be changed.

      Well older chains one rearly had to change,mostly the newer models were they gotta have alot of "tek" that can fail

    Absolutely fantastic video. I've a question I hope you can help with. My 1.4TSI [CAXA] engine has thrown a P0016 fault code three times in three days - I cleared it each time. Could this be anything other than the timing being out ? Do I need to get a timing chain kit and bite the bullet ? Thanks in advance for all help/advice.

      not a professional but from my research so far I saw someone changing the a timing chain for the same engine and that error was popping up and the mechanic in the video said its a timing chain error. but take this with a grain of salt of course

      @@filipadamczewski2571 Just to update... a couple of weeks ago I decided to strip the engine to discover the timing chain had stretched around 2cm ! So to answer my own question - No ! And your mechanic was correct :)

    How do you assemble the strut again. I’ve unassembled but forgotten how to put back. I’ve got metal housing for sping. Big rubber circle and small rubber circle. What goes first if you don’t mind helping me

      It doesn’t need to be set at zero, it’s just a guide to show TDC

    I have a VW touran 1.4 tsi cvac engine which rumbles on start, on 114 k miles, i may need chain and associated parts changed very soon. Would you be open to doing it? Im based in Bham, if not who could you point me to?

      @iAutoTech won't be doing that. I had a golf same engine twincharged in 2017, took it to a local mechanic for similar work and the crankshaft pulley fell off while driving some while later. Wrecked the car. Will just look for a reputable place. How much do you think I should be charged for whole chain kit replacement including labour, ball park?

      @@hnc9costs wise it depends on the garage labour rate per hour. This job will take no more then 6hours and this timing chain kit was £300.

    Very nice, thank you! Please what parts did you use? OEM, FAI, Hepu? I have a 2005 1.4 FSI AXU 60k miles. It rattles at cold start 2 3 seconds, if is stays for a couple of days. I switched to 5w40 from 5w30 but it still does. Please do you have a link for how the comparator clock works? I don t get it why you have to use it twice.

      Thanks for the feedback. I used FAI timing kit. Oil thickness wouldn’t really make a difference to a stretched chain. Comparator?

      Thank You. It use to rattle sometimes on start up and after the timing chain was done it’s been ok.
