I like how she winced as the submission was being applied. It actually helped me finally understand this choke; you’re basically pulling the gi collar across the neck/carotid artery right? I’ve never understood this one until now....I think. Why do you want your leg over her belly btw? Better angle for leverage to apply it? Does it help immobilise her and make it harder to escape or fight off? You have some vids of you doing this/other go chokes in competition?
Thanks for your comment! The leg over the belly is to prevent the opponent from turning (escaping the submission). And you're right, it's pressure on the artery. I have some videos of cross collar choke in competition, may add them to future videos - thank. you for the suggestion.
Hey, just a quick question as I couldn’t find an armbar tutorial. When you apply an armbar are you trying to squeeze the arm between your thighs tightly so you can put pressure on the elbow? Or does it come from a bridging action by lifting your hips? Also - when the opponent is flattened out is that because you’re stretching your legs across them? Are your feet important in potentially setting it up, ie if you were at a slightly funny angle you could hook their face/neck with your foot to either set them up in a better position or help you control them until your angle is better? Is there ever a time your feet would be used to control them like you use your foot to stop them defending a bow and arrow choke?
