    So far, this channel has the most interesting grappling videos for non-practitioners like me who just want to try to understand the art. Great work.

      Thank you so much! Glad you found this technique useful. Great thing about this one is that if they defend it, it opens them up for many other attacks such as sweeps or other submissions, at least with the version from guard. The other ones work even better than the guard version.

      the step-over. i felt like maybe i was a little too far away but i was able to cradle the head with my foot just couldnt figure out how or what i was supposed to do to cinch it up i guess. idk, kindah of hard for you to tell me anything without seeing. I'll ask coach next class, he saw it. i may have given up too early. like ive heard you say before. theres a difference between not having something and giving it up too early. @@mastermindmartialarts

      @@whateveritwasitis Depends where your grip is at, if it is behind the neck, it'll just be uncomfortable for them. And with the step over, you need solid timing as well. That being said, I still get it from the stepover far more than any other position.

    • @mastermindmartialarts
      @mastermindmartialarts  4 месяца назад +1

      I’m not up on the rules completely, but on Chadi’s channel ( he’s another RUclipsr who’s a black belt in judo), he talked about judo’s constant rule changes and mentioned it now being illegal. But I haven’t looked it up, I took his word for it, the video was from last year sometime.

    curious, cross collar wont work as well? ive seen this called the step over choke from side control, same thing?

    • @mastermindmartialarts
      @mastermindmartialarts  11 месяцев назад +2

      The leverage is different with the cross collar, plus with the same side grip, opponents aren't really expecting any attack off of it. With cross collar, they are. You could call it a step over choke from side control, but I specifically asked Flavio about that choke from that position at a seminar last year. Still a canto choke, but names really don't matter.
