I think it’s about time they actually re-brand it and just call it Inferno, apart from the name I actually agree with other people here and think it’s probably one of the most underrated coasters not just in the UK but the world
I seriously think that this is one of the UK’s most underrated coasters. Interestingly after experiencing inferno and then hearing that nemesis was better, my expectations naturally were raises and it ended up not meeting those high expectations. So although i think nemesis is the better coaster nemesis inferno is my favourite. If that makes any sense.
Although it’s not as good as nemesis, it’s still a great intense ride that is always a fun and reliable experience, at least from what I’ve ridden of it!
Luke Brimmicombe I have only seen it broken down once and I visit like once a month when it’s open and I have only seen it stop once personally when I was in the park.
I drove to Thorpe once in my mates yellow cinquecento so that I could ride Nemesis Inferno. The car door fell off so one of my mates had to carry it around the park. And then when we got to the front of the queue my mate kept saying rude things to disabled guests but then had to sit next to them for the whole ride. Then they ended up vandalising the car.

Thank you for your kind words and support! I plan on adding POV's in these videos with ones that I have filmed on or with parks that have official footage
I love the pair of them. Nemesis' terrain makes the ride, while Inferno doesn't have that adventure. Also, the intensity of the helix on Nemesis really can't be beaten. The only massive preference I have with inferno is that I find it to be a much more enjoyable night ride. This may be more down to me enjoying seeing the quarry on the original though, which is much easier during the day. Another top video Shawn, I'm loving how your coping with the current situation! Hopefully I'll have the pleasure of hosting for you at Thopre Park later in the season!
I think Nemesis Inferno is a good ride, especially when the mist is working. At the time, it was definitely a great investment for Thorpe, and like you said it definitely feels as if it's got more intense over the years.
I thought I was being weird absolutely loving that pre-drop, glad you think the same. I had some ok rides on Nemesis Inferno but one not my last ride but the one before, I sat on row 5 or 6 and just got off and went wow, it was so fast and intense. Great video as always, love these reviews.
I've only ridden 5 B&M inverts. Raptor at Cedar Point, Nemesis at Alton Towers; Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe Park, Batman at SFMM and Silver Bullet at Knott's Berry Farm. In my opinion my favourite I've ridden is 1) Raptor; 2) Silver Bullet; 3)/4 Nemesis Inferno/Nemesis tie for 3rd place and 5) Batman at SFMM. I can't wait to ride Katun: The world's best B&M invert, followed by Montu, Pyranees, Banshee and Alpengeist. Thanks for posting!
I think if I had rode the original before this I would put it over inferno but for me I was underwhelmed with nemesis and inferno in my favourite invert
Nemesis Inferno has aged like fine wine! I think it would have been much better to call it simply ‘Inferno’ rather than what it is. I’m weird and sometimes actually prefer nemesis inferno but still, they’re both great
may I ask, how intense is the helix at the end? Is it as intense as the banked turn on the swarm? Sounds like a silly question really but I found the swarm way to intense for me on the banked turn so I just wondered if inferno is as intense. I'm fine with inversions, just not fast, swooping corners which sucks because they're on every ride. (even though, the helix on Saw the ride was ok for me)
@@ThemeParkWorldwide ok thx good to know. Can you recommend any good thrill coasters that aren't too intense on the banked turns? (Ik stealth doesn't have any but I didn't want my first launch coaster to be quite that fast, but then Rita is just banked turns) I'm just stuck in the family coaster realm because most of the more major coasters have intense corners.
I’m absolutely obsessed with these reviews!! Thorpe park is an absolute fav of mine and nemesis inferno is one of my favourite rollercoasters. It was the first upside down ride I ever went on, back when I was 9 😂 I think the inbetweeners have brought it some more popularity and it’s a ride I enjoy from any seat (front for the views and back for the intensity). The queue line is also quite interesting and I love the whole vibe the ride has :)
I do have a lot of love for this Coaster, it was the one that started it all for me. The layout is great and has definitely improved with age it has some punch to it in the dry let alone when you add some rain. In the wet, it flies around the track and just keeps giving. The audio is one of the most iconic on the park and sounds great when it is pumping out. Can't wait for more from Thorpe as it is my local. This is going to be my first ride as soon as we can get out to parks again. Loving the content and is seeing me throw the lockdown!
I might be the only person in the world but I don't mind but I prefer Nemesis Inferno to the Normal Nemesis, not saying I don't like the Normal Nemesis as I love it but I personally prefer Inferno
I love Nemesis and i love Nemesis Inferno... They are both completely different rides! IMO i don't think the name causes the comparison opinions tho. Rita and Stealth always get compared! Its more the manufacture and model that causes the comparison... Saw/Speed for example.
I recently created my own version of Nemesis Inferno on planet coaster and tried to put the exact amount of theming and tried to copy the G-force and it ended up pretty well. I'm loving the reviews and can't wait to watch this one.
Agree with you regarding the name, but in last three years or so I have found I now prefer Nemesis Inferno to the Original. Never thought I'd be saying that ten years ago. It also needs to have its old soundtrack back in the queue! New one not atmospheric enough!
It’s hard to know with the budget they had, but If they wanted to do minimal excavation, then a slight variation on the much cloned Batman inverts ... perhaps doglegging the long thin layout of a Batman layout slightly by adjusting the zero-g roll slightly and changing the second loop to an inclined loop ... those batman clones are ubiquitous now (we take them for granted!) but are an intense ride. I think Nemesis Inferno is a good entry level invert but it was always playing second fiddle to Nemesis. So agree, bad name choice. And not theming the sides or back of the building is something we need to improve on in the uk. I know it’s about money but it makes such an impact on the overall experience. Plus, more interplay with the volcano would have been a great idea. It seems like, as Rita did, a stop gap ride rather than something that was truly given detailed and rigorous thought. But I know it’s not always that simple ... it’d be interesting to play a planet coaster scenario that mimicked the parameters of space and money and time to see if we could do any better ...
Been on both upon opening and throughout the life. I was underwhelmed by NI, mainly due to not being close to the ground and theming. A different name perhaps would of made it unique. Lets not forget the unique layout and achievement in innovation of the original ride too for the UK. The original Nemesis still achieves high and still my personal favourite. Perhaps a bit of nostalgia in there too.
The thing I love about nemesis inferno is that even though it may not be that intense, it's a really fun ride. Like, it's one of those rides that reminds me why coasters are so great, without even thinking about g-forces and elements, it's just pure fun which is why I got into rollercoasters in the first place. Nemesis at alton towers is also great, but as you say it's a very different ride, much more intimidating and intense - but, therefore, not as 'fun' as inferno, if that makes sense?
Objectively the best ride at Thorpe, although Stealth is definitely my favourite. If Nemesis at Alton had Inferno's pre-drop with the mist it would make my favourite coaster ever even better. Love that cool mist on a hot summer's day. Love the way the pre-lift pushes you halfway up the lift hill itself too. Feels really urgent, manic, like the ride wants to hurry up. Gives it character.
Nemesis Inferno is more intense than the original you can really feel it in the back row. my favourite is the vertical loop before making the turn to the left and the interlocking corkscrews really make you feel like your going to hit the rockform. I was abit scared to go on the original but I hope to go on it some point
I love the first half of the ride. The tunnel, first drop and vertical loop are all great but after that it doesn't really do much for me. Still a decent coaster but I much prefer the Swarm and Saw.
Interesting point concerning the name, perhaps naming it Inferno would have avoided comparison to Nemesis ...who knows. It's been a few years since I visited Thorpe Park, a visit is definitely more than overdue. Enjoying the review videos. well done!
I went on this the other day and as thorpe Park is near Heathrow Airport, the was te biggest plane in service, the A380 ( this was after the antonov was destroyed) ( the is a few thousand a380's in service) I was dueling with an A380 at about 500 feet overhead, it was amazing
Underrated ride. Fully agree with your opinions though for it doesn't top original nemesis but it's a great ride, definitely agree that the name ruins it. Love Inferno though, and I think it should be appreciated for what it is, not compared to nemesis all the time! Fantastic video. Enjoyed watching.
I think it should've just been named inferno as that sounds just as cool but I understand it from a marketing standpoint. I hope I can eventually get to Europe to experience some of these great parks and go on some great roller coasters
I went last summer with a group of friends and sat at the front for the first time. The best experience on that ride I've ever had. Effects on in the tunnel, the fountains where on in the swamp after the loop (thought they were gonna soak us) it was smooth and fast... It might be my new favourite at the park sorry Saw 😂 🎡
Yes, It’s the same logo of when it says Nemesis as the one at Alton Towers. Paul and I will try and give the Thorpe Park version of Alton Towers’ Nemesis maybe, when I go to Thorpe Park for a good change 3 years later on my annual theme park trip to give Alton Towers a miss. In the meantime, make sure you and Shawn stay well and safe as follow the government advice of The Coronovirus. 😊
I haven't been to thorpe Park yet so I don't have a say but usually people who have ridden nemesis and goin to thorpe Park will automatically think that inferno won't be as good and that may cause them to be surprised or make them dislike the ride.
Any advice on how to get over my fear of coasters whenever me and my mates go to Thorpe park they keep trying to get me to go on the swarm I just can’t bring myself to do it I’ve been on saw and nemesis and at one point in time stealth but I just can’t do the swarm
The best thing to do is just try to just relax and take in all of the experience! I also think holding on is not a good idea as it makes you more tense during the ride!
What would be good is if they extend the nemesis Inferno volcano from the station over the zero g roll and then the zero g roll would be in the volcano and there would be great near misses with the volcano
Are you just doing reviews on casters in the UK because I would love to see your review on shambhala because I’m yet to ride that but will hopefully be able to ride it next year
I would love to see Thorpe park one year close nemesis inferno for a few months or even better during closed season to re-do the station and maybe add more theming in the station and maybe a repaint and just give the coaster a fresher look.
Totally agree with you. It's a fantastic coaster and really nicely themed. The name forces people to make that comparison which isn't fair really. Love these review videos!
I seem to recall that the thinking behind the name by those in charge at the time was that the general public called any inverted coaster a 'Nemesis' coaster, so they wanted to capitalize on the name. Which was a big mistake in my opinion, because as you say, you've then set the bar to an almost unreachable height. Which is a shame, because it really is a great coaster. But all you ever seem to hear when you come off and you're walking the exit line is 'it's not as good as the other one'.
I was working there when it was being constructed. It was a lot of work but, looked amazing. It is a good ride but, personally I prefer Nemesis at Alton Towers. Still a good ride though.
I love this coaster in the dark especially when you've got the scare maze Blair witch down below you and you hear the screams to the right when you are there at fright nights. It's a back row coaster in my opinion, just don't ride it on the front row in the rain without glasses on....learnt that one the hard way #ouch
Both Nemesis and Nemesis Inferno seem to run a little slow compared to other B&M inverts that I have been on. My guess would be that they are running about the same speed as Great Bear and Raptor. I expected Nemesis to be similar in intensity to Alpengeist.
I agree Shawn - its disappointing when you've been on the original Nemesis, but over the years I've enjoyed it more and more - and it has the best loading station to lifthill run in the UK, which reminds me of Duelling Dragons (RIP)
A fantastic ride with a fun pre-section, However I hope I'm not to cheeky in saying I prefer Nemesis at Alton Towers. I wonder if Thorpe Park called it Nemesis Inferno for a better marketing approach. I call it Inferno, it's Still a great B&M invert with all the tree's and that themed building is mega! but Nemesis is still king for me!
Been on Nemesis Inferno, Colossus and Stealth. I am by no means a rollercoaster expert or thrill seeker, I have been to a theme park maybe 4 times in 27 years and local fun fairs maybe 10 times including Winter Wonderland twice. Those 3 were cool but not really worth the freaking 2 hours of queuing. Olympia Looping was pretty good but way too short and not worth £13 a pop. Flat rides are better and less of an assault on the sinuses with cold air up your nose. I’d rather go on Ramses’ Revenge 10 times in a row again as it takes up the whole queue in one go lol.
I think It would have a better reputation if it had been named something different because having the name nemesis attached to it meant that it would constantly be compared to the original and let’s be honest nothing could ever compare to the original beast
I'm always telling my friends how good Nemesis is and living in the South of England, they just presume I mean Nemesis Inferno. When I then correct them telling them how I mean the original, they just have no idea what coaster I'm going on about which somehow I find hard to believe as you would have thought at least one of them would have heard of Nemesis.
Nemis inferno looks awesome I would love to go on this to be honest any inverted rollercoaster is awesome. Mainly how are you and Charlotte doing in these odd days hope you are all doing well 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I love this roller coaster, think it’s a great ride but totally agree it shouldn’t have been called Nemesis. Nemesis in Alton Towers is my favourite ride, classic coaster & my expectations were high with nemesis inferno. Still love the ride but it’s not the same experience. I also agree with the back row being the most intense experience. I always try & go for the back row as I’ve always said it’s the best row to have the full experience.
I think that nemesis is definitely better. However I do still enjoy nemesis inferno but not because of the intensity. I don’t ride it every time I go to Thorpe park because it constantly has a long queue and isn’t worth the 40 minute wait on most weekends
I think it’s about time they actually re-brand it and just call it Inferno, apart from the name I actually agree with other people here and think it’s probably one of the most underrated coasters not just in the UK but the world

I have also been on the original nemesis
Nemesis Inferno is quite underrated in my opinion. My favorite coaster at Thorpe Park. Love it!
Old school B&M pre drop on the back tow is awesome
We rode inferno twice yesterday its my sons favourite. Such a great ride ❤
Are you just doing reviews on casters in the UK because I would love to see your review on shambhala because I’m yet to ride that but will hopefully be able to ride it next year
No, he did a review of Magnum XL-200
There's reviews coming from many different rides all across the world!
I would love to see Thorpe park one year close nemesis inferno for a few months or even better during closed season to re-do the station and maybe add more theming in the station and maybe a repaint and just give the coaster a fresher look.
Yay I love the reviewssss🥳🥳 great vid once again shawn👍🏼👍🏼
Totally agree with you. It's a fantastic coaster and really nicely themed. The name forces people to make that comparison which isn't fair really. Love these review videos!
Just wondering, have they added an area where you can store a car door yet?
I seem to recall that the thinking behind the name by those in charge at the time was that the general public called any inverted coaster a 'Nemesis' coaster, so they wanted to capitalize on the name. Which was a big mistake in my opinion, because as you say, you've then set the bar to an almost unreachable height. Which is a shame, because it really is a great coaster. But all you ever seem to hear when you come off and you're walking the exit line is 'it's not as good as the other one'.
Definitely agree with this!
I was working there when it was being constructed. It was a lot of work but, looked amazing. It is a good ride but, personally I prefer Nemesis at Alton Towers. Still a good ride though.
I am watching this on the way to Thorpe Park and I am exited to experience this coaster!
I have not gotten to ride OG nemesis yet but this is my new favourite coaster! (And I do prefer colossus to The Swarm!)
I love this coaster in the dark especially when you've got the scare maze Blair witch down below you and you hear the screams to the right when you are there at fright nights. It's a back row coaster in my opinion, just don't ride it on the front row in the rain without glasses on....learnt that one the hard way #ouch
Right as you walk off, left as you're sat on the coaster
Nemesis Inferno > Nemesis
Love seeing all these different opinions!
Don't forget the crocodile before tbe final helix!!! 😆🐊
I never realized how fast the train hits the lift hill. Are there any other B&Ms that do that? I can't think of any.
I haven’t been to Thorpe park but I rlly want to. Great review Shaun!
I always look forward to the “leg dangler ride” as me and the mrs like to call it lol
I was supposed to be going to Thorpe Park for the first time this April but being safe comes before fun.
Original nemesis is so much better, this ones ok. Nice video dude. 😁
Thorpe Park is my local park so i do go on this ride a lot and i havent been to Alton Towers yet but i do plan to very soon
I can't wait to ride it hopefully this year
Another great video Shawn 👍🏻
What PC do you have?
I have a custom built PC
You should do Galactica
Another awesome ride at Thorpe Park
I'm always telling my friends how good Nemesis is and living in the South of England, they just presume I mean Nemesis Inferno. When I then correct them telling them how I mean the original, they just have no idea what coaster I'm going on about which somehow I find hard to believe as you would have thought at least one of them would have heard of Nemesis.
When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a coaster studios video lmao.
Nemis inferno looks awesome I would love to go on this to be honest any inverted rollercoaster is awesome. Mainly how are you and Charlotte doing in these odd days hope you are all doing well 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Looking forward to the 10-second Colossus review: "It's a clunky piece of junk!" 🤣
I actually really enjoy Colossus!
Would love to see a review of wicker man. Also I think park reviews would be good. Btw a great review as always!
More reviews on the way!
Great review!!!
When I was in Nemesis Inferno’s station, My ears were bleeding from the Bose cannons!
Ouch
It sure is loud!
Can u do a review on Raptor??🤔🤔
I'm sure I will do at some point!
I think that nemesis is definitely better. However I do still enjoy nemesis inferno but not because of the intensity. I don’t ride it every time I go to Thorpe park because it constantly has a long queue and isn’t worth the 40 minute wait on most weekends
