    I can agree that Road Runner has really good laterals in the back row and that DC Rivals is the best coaster in Australia, but I found Green Lantern really underrated. The airtime, hangtime and laterals were all great and doing it first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening we didn’t have to wait very long. In fact, we went there first after Superman was acting like Intamins do, and chose it over Superman at the end of the day. Hope to see next year’s rankings with 4 new additions!

    I rode levitation for the first time today in the second-to-last and middle row. I had a small headache and this amplified that. By the end of the day I couldn’t re-ride it anymore as I was in too much pain. Back row (first ride) had great forces and pacing but was a little rough. Middle row was horrendous. There were 2 potholes (helix around queue) and a significant rattle. Cyclone (nearly 100 years old) at Coney Island was smoother than this. Restraints, pace and force of this ride saves it but the future is literally looking rough. Personally prefer Steel taipan over it, but still a good ride.

    15:06 I have a love hate relationship with this ride, don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing ride, but maybe two years ago now, i got stuck in the elevator, on the side, because if you’ve been on it, you know that it rocks the cart, so i got stuck sideways, for like, an hour, and it temporarily closed shortly after

  • @adam_nathan
    @adam_nathan 10 месяцев назад +2

    I don’t quite agree with ranking Green Lantern so low because for me the hangtime you get just wearing the lap-bar (no matter the pain) more than makes up for many of the shortcomings given the Alan Schilke design, I like that downhill inline twist with the headchopper so close to the ground way too much.
    I’d like to ride Leviathan within a week or two of its rather frequent (albeit short) maintenance works that it gets 2-3 times a year and whether that TLC gives it a temporary boost. In the best case scenario I can see Village Roadshow purchasing the Gravity Group’s pre-cut wooden track to place in the roughest sections with the most wear and tear, but that probably has no chance of happening within the first five years. It’s just a shame Australia went so long without installing a modern wooden roller-coaster because there just isn’t the same expertise available on the Gold Coast theme parks for maintaining these things as there is in America or Europe. One would hope if another woodie is built in the future that some lessons will have been learnt.
    Nonetheless, Hades 360 runs terribly and so many enthusiasts still rank it highly based on forces and layout alone so I could imagine Leviathan not falling on some people’s rankings despite the roughness. I’m unlikely to penalise it too much because I grew up riding Lethal Weapon at Movie World which basically ensures anything that doesn’t actually give me a headache (or rope burn after the refurb to arkham asylum) like that one did probably won’t affect my opinion too much. I also rode colossus at Thorpe Park like 10 times in one day so yeah, you probably won’t see me changing my rankings unless it’s dangerously rough.

    • @MaloneysCoasters
      @MaloneysCoasters  10 месяцев назад

      I still like Green Lantern. It’s more a case of a few frustrating experiences in a row pushing it downwards, it still has the potential to rebound. Although it’s definitely WBMW’s weakest thrill coaster.
      Levi is an interesting case. Still my overall number 2. I’m not so concerned if the roughness stays as it is now. After all I’m an LPS local who grew up on Wild Mouse and the Green Valley Farm coaster, I’m fine with a coaster beating me up if it’s fun. What worries me is how quickly that decline seems to be happening. And I know a lot have turned their backs on the likes of Hades and Mine Blower and criticise them quite heavily. Only time will tell. For now, it still has a grip on my number 2 spot

    I think green lantern has taken a further dip given that it will no longer let people on or off trains whilst other trains are in motion on track like it used to making the wait to get on a lot longer I’ve also been told that jet rescue will no longer be running 2 trains at the same time I don’t believe it has in a while but it’s a permanent thing that it will only run 1 which I’m not sure if that’s a bad sign

    I certainly agree with the roughness of leviathan, on my first 5 rides in december even i noticed the pot hole on the s-bend double down in the middle of the ride, it'll be a shame if they dont maintain it as it is my number 1 coaster but to say i wasn't surprised when i notice it would be selling it short. And lap bars on abyss here in perth would be amazing, but will still not quite fix the jolts to the sides you get before and after every brake run

    • @MaloneysCoasters
      @MaloneysCoasters  10 месяцев назад +1

      Agreed that lapbars wouldn't fix Abyss, but I really loved it. I thought it was one of the most forceful rights in Australia. I'll forgive the occasional jolt, the only reason I felt the roughness was a significant mark-down point was because it causes headbanging which does actually make it very unpleasant.
      Agreed on Leviathan, it was a clear second and only just behind DC Rivals after my first visit, but now it's looking more likely to drop to 3rd than to challenge for 1st.

    Motocoaster is way more fun than Kenny's forest flyer, and the Scenic Railway is an awesome nostalgic coaster, I'll fight you on those.

    • @MaloneysCoasters
      @MaloneysCoasters  9 месяцев назад

      Ew no. Motocoaster is outrageously bad in every respect. There are no redeeming qualities. Even if the restraints weren't literal torture devices and the operations weren't terrible because of how ludicrously complex the restraints are to secure, it would still be awful because the layout meanders around and does nothing. It's too high off the ground and the turns are too wide and sweeping to offer the usual whip and pace that Family Launch Coasters are renowned for. It's all around a terrible coaster with hardly any redeeming qualities, and if it weren't for the semi-alright launch and the somewhat-okay laterals on the first turn, I'd give it a 0/10. Plus, it's an eyesore. Terrible, terrible coaster. I will fight you to the death on that. Not only is it Australia's worst coaster by a long, long way, it's the worst coaster I've ridden in ANY country by a long, long way. You only need to join my Discord to see how universally disliked it is.
      As for Scenic Railway, as I said, I have a lot of nostalgia for it too, and it's an important piece of history, but strip that away and what have you got? A mediocre, rough, slow, excessively long ride with terrible pacing. I've given it as many marks as I can for nostalgia and the beautiful heritage buildings, but at the end of the day, it fails in almost every other category.

    • @lickablewallpaper5512
      @lickablewallpaper5512 9 месяцев назад

      @@MaloneysCoasters I have no idea what you are talking about with 'torture device' I was just there and enjoyed it repeatedly. It's basic, but it's unique construction is good fun, I was leaning in like I was on a CBR1000F. Kenny's forest flyer was boring, we didn't bother for a second go. In comparison Gold coaster gave us a headache with its rattle and its restraint restricted my breathing. And as for the Scenic Railway, maybe the brakeman ruined it for you, I just rode it with my niece and nephew, they loved it, I love it, maybe the danger of a 100+ year old coaster helps with its thrill.

    • @MaloneysCoasters
      @MaloneysCoasters  9 месяцев назад +1

      The fact that you know what a "CBR1000F" is (and expected me to know) tells me everything I need to know - you like Motocoaster because you're a motorbike enthusiast. And that's fair enough, you do you. I'm in no position to be judging anyone for their hobbies and obsessions.
      But from a coaster enthusiast standpoint, or the standpoint of anyone who enjoys having kneecaps and/or reproductive organs, Motocoaster a disaster of a coaster. Mick Doohan didn't no-show from the opening ceremony and then later remove his name from the ride for no reason - it was a critical and commercial failure of proportions rarely seen in the world of coasters - nor did Intamin completely redesign the ride model and never build another like Motocoaster again for no reason. Kenny's Forest Flyer, on the other hand, was cloned and built at multiple parks worldwide. Motocoaster's design is fundamentally AWFUL, there are NO good elements, and I actively AVOID it at all costs. I would rather ride Kenny's Forest Flyer for an entire day on end than subject myself to more than one lap on Motocoaster.
      It was voted the second-worst coaster on Earth in the year of its opening, only beaten by a then-30 year old looping coaster. For a brand new coaster to be considered almost the WORST IN THE WORLD by coaster critics and enthusiasts tells you exactly how rare your opinion on this coaster is. If it was a movie, it would not have above 5% on Rotten Tomatoes.
      Kenny's Forest Flyer is boring, yes, but it's a family coaster. Not a thrill coaster. Does Kenny's Forest Flyer achieve its goal of entertaining kids? Not very well, but yes. Does Motocoaster achieve its goal of being thrilling? No. It's dull as dishwater and painful, it has terrible operations, its layout is utterly forceless and it applies the weight of its forces onto the two most sensitive areas of the adult human body to pressure - the groin and the knees.
      I'm sorry, but I've delved into the technical aspects of Motocoaster many times on this channel and deconstructed why almost EVERY design aspect of this coaster was terribly, terribly flawed, and again, I'm not alone on this. I wasn't going to reply again, because people disagree with opinions all the time, but then you dragged Gold Coaster into this, which, while admittedly, yes it can be rough, it's a unique and forceful coaster that smashes Motocoaster out of the park right from the very beginning, because at least it knows how to design a seat. Gold Coaster is a gem and you're lucky you never rode it with the old Arrow restraints. These ones are luxury by comparison. And its rattle is barely a tremble compared to Motocoaster's, and even on its worst days, at least it's applied to your shoulders and not your bollocks.
      As for Scenic Railway, I've ridden it multiple times, so I can assure you it's nothing to do with a specific brakeman, since I've ridden with several different brakemen/women on different days. History is brilliant (and I've done many documentaries on this channel, so please don't underestimate my love of coaster history) but the ride is mid.

      All I'll say before I stop responding out of fear of looking like a jackass in my own comments section: go down the road to Sea World, ride Jet Rescue, and see what a motorbike/jetski coaster can REALLY do. Not only is that ride ten times more forceful and fun, it's comfortable, smooth, looks great and still has the straddle seating. One ride on Jet Rescue will be enough to realise exactly how bad Motocoaster is by comparison.
