    Just got my 1250 and absolutely love it. This video definitely helped me decide to go with it over the 700. Thanks!

    I am in the market for my first pellet smoker and was going to purchase the RT-700, now I am leaning towards the RT-1250. Thank you for this video.

      Definitely go 1250 over 700 if you can. Better perks and auger. 700 can’t sear 😢

    I'm looking to purchase a pellet grill but the one thing that I'm on the fence about is the power cord... I've been a gas griller for over 25 years and having a cord is strange but if it works it would be good. I'm looking at the RT-1250 or the RT-2500 BFG grills. Decisions decisions...

    Why not throw that slab on the iron deflector for a nice sear?

    where is the sear? not a single char mark at 600 degrees? Also doesn't look medium

    "prior to 1250 couldn't have done a reverse sear without the top grate" did he really just say that......you don't need a top rack to do that....I was really hoping to see them make the shape of the grill oval instead of round with upper and lower sliding grates - oval like the 2500 - you get way more useable height room....and why not at least a option to have direct flame accessory...

    How long did you leave it on the bottom for to sear it? Looks awesome. Been looking at the 1250s for a bit

      I usually go by temp. Run steaks on the top up to about 100° then crank the heat. Toss on the bottom rack until your desired temperature. For me, that’s usually an internal of 130-135°. Pull it when it hits that and let it rest for at least 5 minutes.
      I’ve done this without the rack in my 700, but having the ability to have it upper and lower is just an additional benefit with the 1250.

    Just ordered my 1250 yesterday. Upgrading from a Masterbuilt 40" electric smoker.
    If it were me, I would have pulled the steak off after the low-temp smoking portion of the cook, then returned it to the smoker once it came up to full 600 degree temp. No sense subjecting it to all that warmup time; it'll just heat the middle instead of searing the outside.
    I noticed that you didn't have the Recteq probe in the steak during the sear. Was that because you didn't want to subject it to the high heat?

    Would you guys buy one of these over a P&S or Yoder? Seems like the quality is great but others are saying P&S is far better and I suppose I could get a smaller P&S and only pay a couple hundred more…OR buy this and hope it lasts as long as others have said (decades).

    Nice demo, how well does it hold temp? I've got a Louisiana Grill and it drives me nuts this thing won't hold temp. Seriously considering this grill now.

    First of all, I think this pellet smoker is THE BEST on the market. Not even close. Having sad that….. I would have loved to see a sear station attachment that would actually “sear” the meat. Having to take the meat off and crank up the grill, wait until temperature reaches max, seems like a waste of time and pellets. The sear just isn’t the same. You could have absolutely knocked Camp Chef, with their inferior built product, out of contention.

    • @Tacticalories
      @Tacticalories  3 года назад

      Makes sense. We were very happy with the easy crank of heat and sear. Tasted it with my own lips… lol
      Love Camp Chef products though too!

    • @jasonkoeppe2200
      @jasonkoeppe2200 2 года назад

      I too was considering the camp chef with the sear box but this looks like a different league in terms of quality. I guess it’s not made in the US like I thought but unless you go to p&s or Yoder and pay way more that’s hard to find.

    Prior to the 1250 you couldn't smoke on the top rack? Come on, they sell an interior shelf for the 700. I have it! The biggest difference is the 1250 uses a 3rpm auger motor. The 700's is 2rpm. Recteq sold the 3rpm motor prior to the 1250. You could buy and install it on the 700 and get the same performance as the 1250. But after the 1250 they stopped selling the 3rpm motor. Crappy move IMO.
