      Yes, just make sure it’s SUPER duper dry. You should let it dry in the refrigerator on a raised rack for at least a day prior to frying. Zeroooo wetness. 🤘

    I'm looking to purchase a pellet grill but the one thing that I'm on the fence about is the power cord... I've been a gas griller for over 25 years and having a cord is strange but if it works it would be good. I'm looking at the RT-1250 or the RT-2500 BFG grills. Decisions decisions...

    Would you guys buy one of these over a P&S or Yoder? Seems like the quality is great but others are saying P&S is far better and I suppose I could get a smaller P&S and only pay a couple hundred more…OR buy this and hope it lasts as long as others have said (decades).

    Just ordered my 1250 yesterday. Upgrading from a Masterbuilt 40" electric smoker. If it were me, I would have pulled the steak off after the low-temp smoking portion of the cook, then returned it to the smoker once it came up to full 600 degree temp. No sense subjecting it to all that warmup time; it'll just heat the middle instead of searing the outside. I noticed that you didn't have the Recteq probe in the steak during the sear. Was that because you didn't want to subject it to the high heat?

  • @Skylasroom

    Nice demo, how well does it hold temp? I've got a Louisiana Grill and it drives me nuts this thing won't hold temp. Seriously considering this grill now.

    I guess I know how I’m doing it this year. I picked up 2 kits at launch, and I’ve been wanting to spatchcock a turkey ever since they did it on Bob’s Burgers. This must be fate. Thanks guys! I love your products, and have been using them almost exclusively for all my grilling and smoking needs now for about a year. I can’t wait to start this holiday tradition with you guys.

    Couple questions: Why apple cider? Still debating on whether or not to get the kit, can you tell me how sweet is the brine/rub? Also how hot?

  • @AlWashburn
    @AlWashburn 3 года назад

    Bunch of questions: Why 325? why not start lower for smoke flavor and then raise at the end? The grate recommendation is interesting - I've got a small grill (RT-340) - do you have any grates you recommend? I checked on Amazon and either I didn't know what to search for or they just didn't have very good sizing for the 340 (IMO). What do you do - if anything - with the bones you remove? Some constructive criticism: I was hoping this video would be more instructional but I feel like it mostly glosses over most the process. I've never done the method but I'm thinking about it this year but I'm a little nervous that I'll mess it up. Thanks!

    • @jensondavis9994
      @jensondavis9994 3 года назад

      We like to do 325 because it shortens the cook time and crisps the skin while keeping the bird moist . I personally would not do turkey below 275 because it seems to get very rubbery on low temps. 325 had all the wood fired flavor needed. As far as the bones go, we just discarded them but using them along with the rest of the innards would make a perfect stock/gravy.

    How long did you leave it on the bottom for to sear it? Looks awesome. Been looking at the 1250s for a bit

    • @Tacticalories
      @Tacticalories 3 года назад

      I usually go by temp. Run steaks on the top up to about 100° then crank the heat. Toss on the bottom rack until your desired temperature. For me, that’s usually an internal of 130-135°. Pull it when it hits that and let it rest for at least 5 minutes. I’ve done this without the rack in my 700, but having the ability to have it upper and lower is just an additional benefit with the 1250.
