Obviously you didn't see the diesel loco in the back that probably was the one helping it go at that speed in the first place...so many probably missed that critical part.
I've always been a bit amazed the J.K. Rowling never resorted, during the worst of the crisis, to benching the Express in favor of The Flying Scotsman, which, once well clear of King's Cross, would have taken to the air, escorted by Aurors wearing the old long coats and goggles of early motor car enthusiasts. London to Hogsmeade in an hour and seventeen minutes. Heaven help the lady with the trolley...
I've always wonder with regenerative braking for battery could they not a have a electric boiler, like a instant hot water system for homes under pressure.
Nice shot. The 159 moved away giving a better view- lucky it didn't arrive to block the view. I love the A3s but I could never understand why Gresley put those silly squeaky whistles on them instead of chime whistles like the A4s.
Here in the States, we just throw our "old" stuff away. Before anyone gets exited, yes the Big Boy runs out West and N&W 611 runs some in the East, although limited where it can run.
Thanks for comment. Regarding our old steam locos that were saved it has to be said that the majority that survived was by luck. British Railways at the time could not wait to get rid of steam.
There are many countries that have scapped their steam fleets in pursuit of diesels there are countries like USA Canada Sth Africa India Pakistan Java most of Europe and Australia and China All of which are going to regret not keeping some operating examples for the tourism industry
The US and many other countries *do,* have steam locomotives which are used as tourists attractions. There are plenty of RUclips vidéos which to prove the point.
Hi there Again it is Mr Cannadine T. Boxill-Harris, I have another interesting idea for most of us Class 313, Class 314 and that also is including those interesting Class 315 Fans out there, rather than scrapping most of those Class 313's Class 314's including the Class 315's maybe you guys can convert them and including the refurbishment into those Leyland 510 Engine, Volvo B10M Engine, Gardner 6LXCT Engine, Gardner 6LXB, Engine, Gardner 8LXB Engine, Class 313's, Class 314's and the Class 315's and convert all of them into a 2 Carriages and Three Carriages of the Class 313's, Class 314's and that is including those Class 315's for most of us Class 314's and the Class 315's Diesel Train Fans Pretty PLEASE. Are you still going to do this interesting type of Project for all of us out there Please?
On this occasion a lot of people thought we were going to miss 60103 but fortunately the other train moved out.Its the anticipation of seeing a steam train even before it comes into view that you also try and catch.
The disel is generating electric power to rest of the train, but sometimes also helps for less worn on the locomotive. It is not easy to obtain new spare parts.
For what it's worth, over here in "the colonies" when the Union Pacific "Big Boy" steam locomotive is pulling the train, it has a diesel three deep in the consist providing some of the power.
Majestic! Well caught reminder of how impressive a main line steam locomotive can be at speed.
Cheers for great comment.

Always a great sight thanks for sharing from New Zealand
Cheers Terry.
Goosebumps!
Beautiful, isn't She?!
Thank you from South Africa, where railroads fade away...
Cheers for comment.
Nice. My local station. Quite a few steam rail tours pass through. No third rail or overhead, which makes for better photos/videos.
Cheers for comment. One of my regular spots for videoing steam especially when their coming from the Andover direction.
Beauty on rails
Thanks for comment.
Magnificent capture, with very intelligent positioning. I think that the 47 wasn't just providing lights and ventilation though.
Thanks for great comment. Not much noise from the diesel as you would expect if pushing.
It was.
It takes the strain off the old girl
Amazing capture! I can see my self in that video. My video of it isn't as good
Cheers James thanks for cool comment.

Just like to commend all those people who have kept steam alive throughout the years.Well 👍😊😊😊😊xxxxx
Very nice, like😃

Whitchurch: makes a change from the days when City of Truro (3440) used to stop there!
Cheers for comment.
Why would City of Truro stop here, this is on southern territory, not western?
Didcot to Southampton, via Newbury and Winchester. Go read Harold Gasson's books!@@russellgreen3375
Beautiful machine…
I agree, cheers for comment.
Marvellous.

Cheers for comment.I was worried about the 159 when it arrived.I agree about the whistle, it sounds so weak.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🚂🚂💪💪🤝👍
Wallies on the left hand platform nearly missed it !
Thanks for comment.

@thomasconley3429 What about the Nickel plate 765, or the 1309 (now with WMSR)?

Cheers for comment. I totally agree.

Very nicely filmed.
All too often the zoom and pan is ballsed up. Not in this case.
Cheers for cool comment.
Beautifully fired loco eh?
Yes i agree, cheers for comment.
Why post a 2 minute video when the first minute doesn't have 60103 in it?

Sounds like the diesel was working too.

Surely dragging a diesel along isn't good ? They must have a better way than that for extra power
@@Bobsmith-gq5qu Such as?
@@TheMusicalElitist A small generator, in a small guards van. Let's face it, that diesel loco is there for backup.
The color and the number are wrong and so is the chimney.
Cheating, a diesel was pushing it..:)
Yes, I noticed that, too. It kind of detracted from the authenticity, somewhat.
Oh, well, probably in line with many history re-writes these days.
Pity it has to drag that Diesel rubbish. But Steam trains are used to doing that.
I fully agree,cheers for comment.
Sounds more like the diesel is giving it a push. Too many RPM for just generating power and heating.
Thanks for comment.I think your right.@@silverfox4684
@@michaelhay7744 no problem, not really an enthusiast but don’t mind a steam train. So I could be wrong!
