A great sight. Fantastic video. 🙂
Cheers Allan,for nice comment.
Great video, and wonderful to see it ran unassisted!
Cheers for comment. It would have been a real insult sticking a diesel on the back !.
H____E___L___L____O BIG LIKE!!! Great Video!
Cheers for cool comment.
This loco is coming back this year and they’re going to send her to the Severn valley railway for testing just like they did to blue Peter after their respective overhauls
Great news. Thanks for the info.
I went there in September 1967, there were still 63 loco's waiting to go. I still have the list as I wrote it, of all that was there, for the benefit of myself and little brother who I took " to see the engines". Later in the day, I went to play footie for Old Manor Reserves.
Thanks for interesting comment. Just wish id had a better camera at that time.
Nice video Michael :)

Nice capture. I caught the Clun Castle at Overton aswell
Cheers for comment. Not often i get a rear view of myself. Not a pretty sight!
@@michaelhay7744 Hey, you made it onto my channel 😅
Why post a 2 minute video when the first minute doesn't have 60103 in it?
On this occasion a lot of people thought we were going to miss 60103 but fortunately the other train moved out.Its the anticipation of seeing a steam train even before it comes into view that you also try and catch.
Just like to commend all those people who have kept steam alive throughout the years.Well 👍😊😊😊😊xxxxx
🎉🎉🎉🎉🚂🚂💪💪🤝👍
Good job
Thanks for comment.
There are many countries that have scapped their steam fleets in pursuit of diesels there are countries like USA Canada Sth Africa India Pakistan Java most of Europe and Australia and China All of which are going to regret not keeping some operating examples for the tourism industry
Cheers for comment. I totally agree.
The US and many other countries *do,* have steam locomotives which are used as tourists attractions. There are plenty of RUclips vidéos which to prove the point.
Nice 👍👍
Cheers for comment.
Cheating, a diesel was pushing it..:)
Yes, I noticed that, too. It kind of detracted from the authenticity, somewhat. Oh, well, probably in line with many history re-writes these days.
Beautiful machine…
I agree, cheers for comment.
Here in the States, we just throw our "old" stuff away. Before anyone gets exited, yes the Big Boy runs out West and N&W 611 runs some in the East, although limited where it can run.
Thanks for comment. Regarding our old steam locos that were saved it has to be said that the majority that survived was by luck. British Railways at the time could not wait to get rid of steam.
@thomasconley3429 What about the Nickel plate 765, or the 1309 (now with WMSR)?
Beautifully fired loco eh?
Yes i agree, cheers for comment.
Beauty on rails
Thanks for comment.
Thanks for interesting comment.
Goosebumps! Beautiful, isn't She?! Thank you from South Africa, where railroads fade away...
Cheers for comment.
With very poor wages on British Railways some of my workmates at Bournemouth, ex steam drivers & firemen, said they had part time work on their days off helping to scrap the locos. There was a big risk from the blue asbestos cladding around some the inside but they were lucky. I can imagine how heartbreaking it was to scrap the types of engines you loved. I saw a picture of another colleague at my other depot Salisbury, walking away in tears on the last day.
Cheers for comment. Sad sight at Cohen's. Re blue asbestos had same problem when i worked on steam at Eastleigh Works when the cladding gang removed it from the boilers.
What happened to thatstubborn black dog?
Cannot recall that.
The color and the number are wrong and so is the chimney.
Very nice, like😃

Whitchurch: makes a change from the days when City of Truro (3440) used to stop there!

Why would City of Truro stop here, this is on southern territory, not western?

These monsters are the dinosaurs of our life. We MUST keep these huffing, puffing, snorting, grunting and rattling beautiful designed and built pieces of our inheritance.
I totally agree,thanks for comment.
I've always wonder with regenerative braking for battery could they not a have a electric boiler, like a instant hot water system for homes under pressure.
I've always been a bit amazed the J.K. Rowling never resorted, during the worst of the crisis, to benching the Express in favor of The Flying Scotsman, which, once well clear of King's Cross, would have taken to the air, escorted by Aurors wearing the old long coats and goggles of early motor car enthusiasts. London to Hogsmeade in an hour and seventeen minutes. Heaven help the lady with the trolley...
Always a great sight thanks for sharing from New Zealand
Cheers Terry.
Good video Michael :)
Thanks for nice comment.
Very nicely filmed. All too often the zoom and pan is ballsed up. Not in this case.
Cheers for cool comment.
Hello Michael, It was good to see the Mayflower again. It came through Bicester North earlier in the year but I didn't manage to get a decent photo at the time.
Thanks for comment.
Wallies on the left hand platform nearly missed it !
Thanks for comment.
Majestic! Well caught reminder of how impressive a main line steam locomotive can be at speed.
Cheers for great comment.
Obviously you didn't see the diesel loco in the back that probably was the one helping it go at that speed in the first place...so many probably missed that critical part.
Total piece of kit
Cheers for comment.
Pity it has to drag that Diesel rubbish. But Steam trains are used to doing that.
I fully agree,cheers for comment.
Sounds more like the diesel is giving it a push. Too many RPM for just generating power and heating.
Thanks for comment.I think your right.@@silverfox4684
@@michaelhay7744 no problem, not really an enthusiast but don’t mind a steam train. So I could be wrong!
For what it's worth, over here in "the colonies" when the Union Pacific "Big Boy" steam locomotive is pulling the train, it has a diesel three deep in the consist providing some of the power.
Nice shot. The 159 moved away giving a better view- lucky it didn't arrive to block the view. I love the A3s but I could never understand why Gresley put those silly squeaky whistles on them instead of chime whistles like the A4s.
Cheers for comment.I was worried about the 159 when it arrived.I agree about the whistle, it sounds so weak.
What is the green thing at the back? A diesel their for safety if the steam engine fails?
Thanks for comment. It does seem unnecessary and in a lot of tours they are hardly used but i believe the touring companies feel happier if there is some insurance against breakdowns.A failure of the train can prove costly to them.
Yes. A backup, just in case. It also provides the electricity required for the passenger coaches.
Magnificent locos the Bulleids
Obviously 'bowled' has a significant meaning amongst train spotters. From the title, I thought it meant you nearly got knocked over.
Thanks for comment.'Bowled' is used when you plan to see a train go through at a certain time but is spoilt when another train obscures your view. Despite careful planning with the timings of trains late running by some means its a gamble where you film from either the platform or a footbridge. It can be quite frustrating!.
@@michaelhay7744 Thanks for the reply. Having read some of the other comments, I had an inkling that's what it might be.
Great video! I saw her at Twyford.
Cheers henry.
Beautiful machine.
Takes me back, i used to love standing on a bridge with the steam trains thundering underneath. Thanks.
