    Weird.
I have the following "safety tools":
"I run a PG-13 table. This isn't a game about sex. Try not to cuss in front of the younger players."
Seems to work. Doesn't need a checklist cribbed from the BDSM community.

This is very true. Without question there are people who run R rated tables but I'm willing to bet those GMs know their audience.

40+ years of running games and have never used safety tools. Zero issues at my table, even running games for strangers. The use of Safety tools are championed by those that seek to be perpetually offended IMO.

I've been running games for just as long and never had issues either. I have heard of an issue here and there but its always second hand rumor. I really don't know if they are fabricated to justify the tools or not.

@@thepickleddragon8590 the closest I have seen to an issue was with my home game and we were not even playing. Our group was discussing ideas for a d20 modern campaign and we were considering playing an ant-terrorist style campaign. One of our members was a Veteran and wasn’t comfort with the idea and we immediately just bounced to the next idea. No issue.

GMs know their players and you probably won't see issues at home games. The questions come up at cons and open tables. Event summaries should eliminate questions of what a person is getting into.

Championed by those who seek to be perpetually offended, perhaps.
Also by the predators. When I first joined Twitter, one of the first champions of safety tools that I met, was quickly outed by multiple players as a sex pest towards his female players. I guess a blue-haired DM collecting lists of what emotionally bothered his more sensitive players had an ulterior motive. Who'da thunk it?

If you want to use them at your table, you do you. I won't use them at my tool - people who try forcing them on others are just looking for a way to control others because they have no control of themselves.

I miss the days when everyone recognized that it is bad form to be openly crude or mean but also had the grace to overlook mistakes that could reasonably be unintentional. Who is not generally in favor of safety? However, I refuse to entertain requirements to don life preservers, football helmets, or minimum vaccination quotas to play a game at a kitchen or conference room table.

It is the death of common sense and what it means to be "adult".

@@thepickleddragon8590 I feel blessed that one of your videos appeared in my feed. Having watched several more now, I feel compelled to express my appreciation for the strong moral character you both provide as a solid foundation of your content.
