Players aren't supposed to fail! That might make them feel bad about themselves. No, enemies are loot pinatas that must be killed as quickly as possible so we can get back to the real game: listening to the DM entertain us with a bunch of funny voices, like those guys on RUclips. I can't wait to see what wacky shenanigans he's cooked up for us this time! Actually, I don't really follow any of them, so I have no idea what this new 5.whatever edition is going to turn out to be, but I do think it's a bit funny that there's already talk of OG5E being the good old days.

10:55 It's not that people want WotC to fail because they hate the company - it's the other way around. The company hates "the people". IMO If a company says that "people of certain demographic" should stop using their product as soon as possible, then not using said product is not a sign of hate, but just a sign of respecting company's request :-D

I've got a pretty gross build I've been able to coble together with the stuff shown if the early release stuff. Thrikreen Eldritch Knight. You can duel wield a weapon with the knick property to get the duel wield attack as part of the attack action and use Pole Arm Master bonus action attack. At level 5 once you get PAM you get 4 attacks a turn and 7 with action surge. And if you take a background to get magic initiate for cleric spells you can pick up divine favor which is now concentration free and can stack on top of spirit shroud when you eventually get third level spells. On top of that the Eldritch knights new and improved multi attack with cantrips means you can even throw booming blades into the mix on top of everything. I haven't sat down to do the math but the DPR has to be crazy

Another "broken" thing people are taking about is casters taking a level dip for weapon mastery. It was meant to be martials new toy but it ended up just making casters better.

  • @Richinnameonly
    @Richinnameonly 2 месяца назад +3

It might not be "broken" but multiple people taking the musician origin feet in a group is very close. Free heroic inspiration for the team every short rest is an insane advantage.

Oh my God Dracoya! ña ña ña ñ ña..........Just kidding i dont know anything about alcohol.
Well this kind fo mistakes on the spells are awfull.
I still play 3.5e and it still doesn't fit my mind when people talk about using spells to create water inside opponents, or transforming insect pests into giant animals to crush their enemies. and I say to myself "Haven't they read the spells correctly? They exclude those possibilities right there" and then I remember that they are talking about 5e and I let it go. They sound like from edition to edition they tend to ignore what has already been solved in the past.
    Anyway, great video. Thx!

5e spells have a real problem with clarity. So many of the spells can be interpreted in several different ways.

I don’t change rules I’m D&D. I use them against my players until they ask to change the rules. For example I would have two priests ride around on mounts with spirit guardians and TPK the party as they ride around them over and over. The players would get upset and then I change the rule and they are thankful. Never tell your players no. Just say yes and use it against them.

It would not surprise me at all if that is exactly how Spirit Guardians is written because that is exactly how it worked in Baldur's Gate 3 and we already know Wotc took a lot of the changes from Baldur's Gate 3 and put them in.
As for Gencon 2024 books, my friend "won" one of the books. By win I mean he won the right to buy the book. WotC didn't give any away for free at Gencon but yeah I didn't even touch it, I was too busy reading my new Shadowdark book

@thepickleddragon8590 I have a feeling it is WotC trying to bring more of people from that group who played Baldur's Gate 3 into D&D, which again is another cause for the VTT. Trying to bridge that gap to get more people which equals more profit.

@forsaken7976 yep. I mean, seriously, you would think at Gencon and with it being the 50th anniversary of D&D that those, I think 3000 books, would be raffled as prizes to try and get some hype but no. They raffled for the chance to pay $50 for a book.
On the flip side, I won a signed copy of a board game.

Definitely a video game vibe about this, it’ll get to the stage where people will moan unless you have an optimal build.

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't original 5E have a ton of pre release player beta testing and feedback? I remember the rules being accessible easily from early on so people could try it out. Granted it still has many issues but I always thought that contributed to its success. I don't think we got any of that with new 5E, Wotc has been very hush hush about it except the art until now.
Also on D&D failing, yes I don't want to see people hurt, but also want to see the brand in the hands of people who care about the core of what makes the game special, rather than identity politics and making a quick buck. I'd happily watch it fail if it meant going to a more capable company who actually cared about delivering the most satisfying and enjoyable RPG experience over all of the BS.

When 3rd Edition came out, I was excited at the innovations and character options. I loved the game, but over time I realized that the future would be a struggle to balance character options with the game system (and that the volume of rules might make that impossible).
Aside from all the corporate and social stuff that keeps me from patronizing Hasbro/WotC, I’m going to the indie market for games that are more playable and elegant in their design.

I loved Ultima Online. Unfortunately, I just started playing after Renaissance. Didn’t get to experience it before, but loved it all the same. I was 13 when I started playing. Still spent most my time in Felucca, because that’s where my uncle (RIP, the man who got me into D&D, Ultima Online, and VTM) and his guild lived and hung out. After EA bought them and so many players left, then crappy expansion after crappy expansion, it just kind of died. Glad to see it’s still going strong for some people, but it will never be the same. Truly a wonderful community. One of my characters was an orc rper, with our guild having our own little language.

I have been playing D&D since ‘83, and it is a big part of my life. That being said I am not a fan of WoTC, the things they’ve done, tried to do, the way they treat their employees or those of us in the community. I don’t want them to fail, just do better. I am a forever DM and the power creep is BAD. There is little chance of death and it sounds like the new edition (which I have already told my groups I will not be purchasing or running) is only going to take an already broken game and make it worse. > but at the same time I don't want D and D to go away and since they do have the whole rights to DND if they fail d and d goes and I don't like that
Except you're wrong. If Hasbro and WotC disintegrated TONIGHT, it wouldn't matter. You have the stuff you have. You can move to a similar system like BFRPG for 0 cash, or Lamentations of DCC or EVERYTHING ELSE THAT'S OUT THERE.
If they fail though, they and the industry learn a lesson. They SHOULD fail. And if you think D&D "goes" if they fail, then maybe you need to get yourself out of THIS THING YOU CALL "D&D" and move to a more stable system that doesn't need the corporate support. Why not do yourself the favour and move to something you control more than some company who actively does not care about you in any way beyond being an income stream?
