    Hi Sally! I just watched this video and had to leave a comment (which I so rarely do). I wanted to thank you for taking the time to do so many makes and filming/sharing them all with us! I’m thankful it is something you enjoy doing. Every week I look so forward to your videos, seeing what you have made, and learning what you have encountered along the way. I hope knowing what your videos means to so many of us will and what so many of us gets from them will ease any feelings of guilt you may feel. You are so incredibly talented. You have inspired me to get back to sewing and for that I am grateful. THANK YOU!

    Hi Sally. I came across your channel at Christmas and so glad I did. I started sewing again in March 22 after not doing it since my GSCE’s (about 30 years ago). Up until finding your channel I was only sewing woven fabrics and I saw something that you made with stretch fabric, so gave it ago. I’m so glad I did! I’ve since made several lovely tops that are much more suited to my style and wear them a lot. Thank you so much! xx

Your podcasts is one of my favourites for sure 🥰🥰 One of my 2023 resolutions was to start a RUclips channel but I've realised that with my schedule right now working full time and being the mum of a 15 month old it is just not realistic and I'd much rather spend that time I would have put in filming/editing into my actual sewing/knitting. Have you seen Jessica McDonalds knitting patterns. She designs for hildren and adults. She has some lovely colourwork patterns that are beginner colourwork friendly. She does top down sweaters , seamless and knit in the round. I made some colourwork sweaters last year. It was really fun and satisfying and much easier than I thought.

    You've had a very successful 2022 with both your sewing and your channel. I'm a recent subscriber. My favourite make from 2022 was the Sofia Shawl Collar top from Sinclair patterns. I have made three so far, two for myself and one as a gift, and have two more planned. I'm not quite as brave as you with fabric mashing, yet although I'm working on it. I have earned to sew for the season, for my body shape, and to stick to my favourite colours of purples, blues, jade, turquoise, and navy with a little burgundy here and there. Ah thank you so much!! I bought 4 metres of fabric and I think I used around 3.5, it does take a lot of fabric with those sleeves and all the gathering. The longer dress takes a LOT of fabric. Enjoy sewing it up x

    Congratulations on 10k! I love watching your videos and I follow you on Instagram too. You have inspired me to buy a Studio Seren deer pattern, I haven't got around to making them just yet but I will very soon. I have the Eve dress pattern but I have been "put off" making it because another RUclipsr said she had massive fit issues with it, particularly the bodice and sleeves so I was wondering if you encountered such issues? I have learnt that I procrastinate too much! My plans for 2023 are to just make the garment! What's the worst that could happen?! I would also like to tackle my "fear" of knit fabric! Have a fabulous 2023, I look forward to following your journey ❤️

      Thank you very much for following along :) Enjoy making the deer it's such a lovely thing to make. I haven't had any fitting problems with the Eve but I do find that the size 8 in SOI patterns tends to be a good fit on my so I think I'm just lucky there. It's not the same with some other brands. Definitely just go for it, I used to be the same I overthink a lot and it doesn't get you anywhere - it's all learning :) Happy sewing! x

    Sally, that’s wonderful about your channel growing so much and that you were published in a magazine!!! I’m happy for you! I experimented with new fabrics and new styles because like you I wanted to try new things. I did keep with colors I like but it didn’t matter because I found that I don’t wear the fabrics I sewed with or the different styles. So this year I’m going back to sewing with the fabrics I know I like and the styles I like. I guess I learned (kind of the hard way). It’s okay, I did make some garments with fabrics that I love. The other garments I will donate. Thanks for sharing ❤

At my age, I would think I would be able to get right back into it....but no. I have been struggling with making a mess of each item. I just really need to throttle through and start the next one. One goal is to really research the different fabrics and how to use them, by that I mean what fabric suits what pattern! Well take care dear Sally and again bravo on a spectacular "make" year.

    I just stopped watching to go and find how many things I made in 2022. I made 16 that I recorded but there will be more ( plus 2 wide scarves I knitted)which I thought was quite a lot. My records are reasonable but I need to be better. I’m going to watch your video now. 😂 I revisited the Mandy boat tee and hope I have convinced myself NEVER to make it again. I like the construction but the neck is enormously wide and straps show on me. I also don’t like the feeling that I need to pull the sleeves up because of the way the sleeves sit. I wonder if I could change it somehow and I’m curious but is it worth it? 😂

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  Год назад

      It’s absolutely not about the amount for me but I do like to know and look back. 16 is a lot and knitted garments will always take longer than sewn. With the Mandy Boat Tee I’d say probably not worth it really as there are so many other t shirts out there that will probably suit you better. The only thing I think you could try is sewing the neckline in a bit to cover the straps since it’s straight?? Thank you for watching xx
