Your videos are great. They have me spitting out my tea with laughter and then wishing I was out with my camera, all in one video. Keep it up, Gav!
Cheers mate. I learned a lot from thee ;)
Instablaster...
Beautiful scenery, great images, a good sense of humor and a tumble down the hillside. What more can a person ask for...
Another blinding vlog. Stuffed full of energy, humour and information. Brilliant!
Keep the great videos coming Gavin, and what ever you do, don't loose your great sense of humor. I was loving those tight shoots of the waterfall using the zoom.
Thanks Brad. Agreed, maybe I'll sell my full frame gear and go crop!
At least facebook didn't list you as dead : D, ruclips.net/video/5_7LjiC05Gc/видео.html @@fototripper
Found your channel recently, lovin’ the fact you include the bits that don’t go so right but having a laugh with it. Waterfall shots are bloody brilliant.
You should rename this the Lower Gavin Falls .
Keep it up mate, looking forward to watching more of your coffee drinking bow-legged adventures!
I'm blushing :)
my neck of the woods man! where was my invite! haha
I believe you were still in Moab that day mate, otherwise I'd have hit you up :)
Everyday I come back to this video just to watch the first 10 seconds. Between the head banging and the sudden cut to you falling, I swear my mood improves with every view. Your sense of humor is infectious - never lose it.
hahahahah
Top drawer Gavin, as per 😉
Like i said before you and nev make me chuckle, must be a yorkshire thing 😊 great viewing again mate 👍
Awesome as always! Loved the images.....
Oooh yes - multiple photogasms! That last one was fantastiqua! No wonder you were such a happy chappy. 😄👍🦘🇦🇺
5:21 So fun seeing so many roads that I ride my motorcycle on.
Mount St Helens, not quite like the St Helens I’m from. Did you have 3 lots of them 🌮? Eh eh? Oooh I tell thee what, they looked belting. Fantastic road trip, and wow what a location! Incredible! You got a series of most excellent shots. Great stuff with the subs as well! Well deserved Gavin. Ooh yea, no fucker there? Can’t believe it! All to yourself.
What an awesome trip, awesome places, great food and some cracking photographs. Cheers.
Nice shot of Mt St Helens!
Oregon travel tip for fueling up: pull up to pump and get out your car like 99% of the world and grab a nozzle. Feign ignorance when someone runs at you like you're holding a weapon and hand them the nozzle. It's a real time saver at the pump. :)
Fabulous images👍 really appreciate hearing the thought process with your compositions.
hahahah, Tony I've actually done for real having driven through so many times I simply forgot. It does speed up the tedious process ;)
Gavin, your videos just keep getting better and better, so does your commentary. Your enthusiasm keeps shining through. I was always a fan of you photography, but now your 'vlogs'. But - your mad as a sack of ferrets. Regards - John
I might use that saying John ;)
Love that last image, and the fall! ( You never get to see Thomas Heaton do that )
maybe he never falls?
Not sure how I missed this one but glad I saw it now - stunning waterfall and beautiful light - thanks for sharing.
Great vid and an abundance of beautiful shots! I prefer the more intimate close up shots, but that's just me. Really enjoy the humour in your videos, never a dull moment. 😂😂
Thanks Mark
Up there with best photography channels on RUclips. It can only be a matter of time before your channel really takes off. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Phil :)
Brilliant. Mate as usual worth watching seeing you fall lol sorry great set of images
I follow a heap of landscape photographers and this is the first of your videos youtube has put into my recommended list. Loved it. Instant sub.
Thanks muchly
I liked the tight shot better. But the last shot was KILLER! The light and the water along with that bit of haze in the background... Yummy! Plus you taught me a new word "photogazim". I'll be using that.
Ah that would be 'Fotogasm' Larry ;)
fototripper got it!
It was the little wink and smile that persuaded me to subscribe....
Hahahahaha, it worked....finally :)
Give a big thanks to mr. Heaton, for linking me your channel. Dude! This is gold!
MnnnM1 same
It is pretty interesting to be watching your earlier videos after having seen all of your more current stuff...the evolution of your on-camera personalities and style is quite dramatic.
Love your videos. Incredibly informative and your sense of humor gets me every time. Keep it up!
Love this video! Another great one!!!
Also anyone actually wanting to see sensor spots stepping to f/22 or the smallest fstop for your lens will show more than a wide open aperture.
Great tip.
A re-watch for me. I do enjoy those early vlogs with you falling over on ice or falling down a slope 🤣 the way this one starts is so funny.... "that's me, Gavin Hardcastle" 🤣🤣🤣 brilliant
Such awesomeness in and around that area. Truly enjoyed watching this as I sip my morning tea.
Id be losing my mind with a day like this man, congrats! Stoked I stumbled on your channel as well, I love the content
Great video. Such a magical place. So magical in fact that you got a clip of the "Reversing Falls" at 15:22. Wonderful shots!
I saw you for the first time on Adam Gibbs' channel and am glad I checked out your channel. As for the images of the falls, I prefer the second one, although I like the smoothness in water in front of the falls in the first one.
Thanks Drake.
Great photos - all
I don't have an HDR display but damn that 3:29 sun ripped my eye
Great videos, Gavin. Some parts are pretty funny and others are seriously great!
Thanks Bob :)
‘photogasm’ ? …. I must remember to include that in my vocabulary! Seriously, though, a fantastic video.
Another great vid, Gavin! I preferred the tight, tele shot of t cascades. But that fall....I almost peed my pants laughing so hard....take care my good man!
heheh, glad you liked it.
That waterfall was absolutely stunning.... thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Hate random sludge coffee! Love the look of those tacos! Half the time I do stop for random good light because like you said, "you never go back do ya". Seriously though, days as productive as that are few and far between. Loved all your images.
Thanks James, weirdly I had an even more productive day two days later at The Butchart Gardens. I was on a roll.
Slow down and enjoy some beautiful Oregon scenery next time! Nice video Gavin! Your friend Adam plugged your channel and I just subscribed. Good stuff!
Oh I enjoyed plenty on my way through ;)
Between the two photos, I prefer the wide myself. Yet I usually prefer wides. Found your channel recently, and enjoying the heck out of it. You are one heck of a road warrior. I’ve made that drive all across Hwy 84 many times through Idaho and Oregon. Cheers from California

Good stuff Gavin
Great video love the fall and the falls and as far as the picture composition I like the first one better because the rocks ledyou into the scene
Thanks Robert.
OMG Gavin, Tresmendous does not even begin to describe that location and those images
Awesome place to shoot great colours and those slate clouds
I love your style and the humor is outstanding. I learn a lot from you. Thanks Young Feller.
Gavin, great video and to quote Thomas Heaton, those pictures are "Stunnin'" and "Absolutely glorious". I live about 2 hours from those falls and will have to visit them this year.
Thank you very much for explaining your thought process when composing a shot and for adding the camera settings to the final photo. So few photographers do this, which for me adds massive value. 😀😀
Good job Gavin, you got some grand shots! I think I'd be falling all over the place with excitement as well! As to your question, "more is better"... in my compositions, I try to get as much in a possible unless it distracts, distorts, or takes the eye away from my main subject. I Loved what you did here as the additional foreground added dimension & size to the entire scene. Plus, if you took 3 verticals, you have a much better quality image if you choose to sell a large print. I don't do enough verticals these days and you have inspired me to start putting more into my adventurers. I can't believe you get away with such a clean f22! Cheers 🍻
Thanks Richard. Gone are the days where I would shy away from f/22. These new sensors have no problem producing sharp results, plus I had more light than I could possible handle so diffraction wasn't a major worry. Glad to have inspired you in some way.
@@fototripper We should get together for an adventure Bro, I'm in Nanaimo :)
@@fototripper True, things sure have changed for the better! If your ever up for a backyard adventure look me up... love to spend a day or two following some passion, I'm in Nanaimo and could help you out with your vlogs. 500px.com/richardjamesmilne
That sun coming through the waterfalls was magnifique. All of the photographs were.
Greetings from North Yorkshire. I've recently discovered your channel and its great. A good mix of fun and photographic technique. Planning a return visit to BC in 2020 and I'll have to try and visit some of the locations you've covered in your videos. Keep up the good work :)
Thanks Mark ;)
Like others - just caught your channel now.
Some lovely shots there, delivered calmly 👌
I love the difference between landscape photography and just about any other genre of photography...
Nobody else will leave at sunrise to take a few shots around sunset, then consider bagging 5 good shots to be one of their best days ever.
You're very entertaining and you definitely made the most of the falls. Lovely shots all the way through. Looking forward to more of your content. Subbed.....
Thanks Mark
Another great video, very amusing and some cracking photographs.
Just discovered your channel bro. Really nice stuff. All the best to you.
Just found your channel, you have a very pleasant and funny way of telling your story! Subscribed instantly. One suggestion tho: It would be nice, if you could keep the final image in its entirety a few moments longer in the frame. Cheers!
Thanks Oliver, I'll try that.
Absolutely Brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed. Your Yorkshire accent and deadpan sense of humour had me smiling or laughing all the way through - Classic. Pretty damn fine (that's American) photography too 👌
Thanks so much Andy :)
Gorgeous.. Gorgeous.. Gorgeous 😋
Another great video. Your photography is great. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome video! In my opinion, the wider photo with more of the foreground is the more appealing of the two. Of course, both are gorgeous though. Very happy to have discovered your channel tonight :D Keep up the great work!
Thanks Chelsea. I reckon it's about 50/50 from the responses so far
Really amazing place and video..Great work!!

Great videos, not pi..ing in ya pocket now my fav video's, love the pommy sense of humour. Any chance you could do a complete video on a photo from where you focus to the final edit. Anyway Cheers from Tasmania, Down Under OZ.
Hi Tony, I'll be doing lots of that in my upcoming photography courses ;)
A little bit on the dull side Gavin....Not! Loved it. Thought you were a bit tight on the image view time though. Wink n it’s gone. Good to see you working that wonderful location, the last shot being my favourite. Great work 👍👍😬
Thanks James. The stingyness ends now ;)
Glorious video Gavin, Great location and Images. Enjoyed your commentary, Cheers,
Thanks Vallerret :)
Both are incredible I like the first one
Literally love these videos mate. Good to see a fellow yorkshireman out in the sticks in the US
Congratulations, looks like the youtube gods have smiled upon you and you have made the recommended list . Your reward is many new subscribers including myself. Very nice, well thought compositions, and excellent explanations. Thanks.

"Sucking in my Shatner" pmsl.....great vlog Gav!
Only the elite get it ;)
Hi, I found you through the Thomas Heaton car interview that popped up in my feed. I really enjoyed both videos and have subscribed, thank you for the great content! :)
Thanks Ste.
I went to Lower Lewis River Falls last year and got to know my new-to-me Canon T6 and got a few good shots of this beautiful falls. After watching this video, I now MUST go back for different perspectives! Thank you for the inspiration!
Great video and some fantastic shots there.
First time viewer........really really like what I seen and now I am a new subscriber. Well Done and Thanks For Sharing.
Thanks Dave.
Great video! The last image is superb, sublime in fact. Regarding the two images you wanted us to comment on which we preferred.....for me, it is the version with the rocks in the foreground, leading you into the waterfall. Lovely image. Thanks for posting.
Aye aye Gavin, I kinda stumbled on your channel over the weekend and ended up watching all your vids , great stuff , love the humor and your enthusiasm , some nice tips and tricks that a newcomer, hobbyist like me can learn from as well , So top marks from me , keep em coming .
Thanks a lot.
I prefer the wider , it tells a better story Gav...love , love , love the tones ..x
Great video!!!!! Loved the photos that came out!
Thanks man
just saw you on Adan Gibbs' channel. really enjoyed your vlog and looking forward to binge watching your library :)
Thanks mate :)
Yep did learn something from this video. Watch my step when going up a hill. Lol. Great pictures learning alot from all your videos. Thanks.
Hello fototripper! Great photo and beautiful location! Thank you for your hard work! I really enjoyed watching this episode😍
Thanks for watching :)
I’ m now a new subscriber. Your work is just beautiful.
Thanks James
Nice video! I would suggest buying a set of Lee Filters with Polarizer! An absolute must, especially for waterfalls! Then there is no need to shoot at f/22...
I find them a total waste of time, money and energy. Shooting at f/22 in ridiculously bright light is no problem for the Sony cameras.
Great video!! Love your passion for the art!!
Cheers Chris
So many great shots! The last one looked like the hero of the day for me. After finding you through Tom I'm working my way through your vlogs.... Very entertaining and inspirational!
Wonderful work. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Bob
I enjoyed following along on your trip to Lewis River. Glad you had a good experience in Washington.
I love that you leave in your spills, and have as much of a chuckle at them as we do!
I prefer the cropped shot Gav, all gorgeous.
The last one was my favorite shot - amazing.
That's a gorgeous falls and photos. Good shot of Mt. St. Helens. It did erupt on me in 2004.
Beautiful captures! Looks like an amazing place. Subscribed! Have a great weekend.
Thanks Stefan
@@fototripper Thank u for sharing 😀👍
Beautiful place to take a landscape photo, thanks for sharing.
6:55 Liquid water being one of the rarest substances in the entire universe, you are fortunate indeed to be able to see the most beautiful scenes on planet Earth!
Hes not in NZ so nope.
