    Where I struggle is with multiple enemies where you're fighting someone and two or three enemies attack you in the back and know you down. Or you block once and then get hit by someone else.

    Actually, for someone who generally play most game at hard, the normal mode of this game is quite difficult actually, at some points even very much so, to the limit of feeling unfair and unreasonable.. That being mostly boss fights and "forced" sections of combat.
    For that reason, as I did for Remake, I would recommend that some players play this game on easy instead, to best enjoy the world, the story and the characters, without getting annoyed about some aspects of the combat, because at some points it can be very frustrating.
    I did however play the whole game on normal mode, which I consider as a hard mode and not normal at all. To me it was fun and good, but it really forced me to make the best out of builds, and redirect more of my focus towards the combat of the game. But it's way harder than it should be, so that's why I would recommend many people to rather play this game on easy, to avoid the frustration and get the best out of the game. Easy is probably not too easy, it wasn't in the first game (Remake), the combat worked very well on easy without getting in the way of the game experience.
    In any case, the game experience in this game is even more important than in the first game. But well, for me, matching that with overly difficult combat was quite ok, but then again, I'm used to hard mode combat, not normal or easy.

      i play on normal and find the game pretty easy but i will agree i must be at chapter 11-12 50hours of play , and they have been multiple boss which i did find a bit hard definitely NOT normal difficulty even i win and didnt die but they were maybe 2 boss where i was like 'Are you Serious.....' like i died 2-3 time in a row and i actually need to think and try hard and pick right Materia...

      @Cathal. 2 месяца назад

      In the second half of the game, the Normal Mode definitely spikes in places where the previous game didn't, usually with certain bosses and certain conditions that can see your party taking huge amounts of damage. It's fine overall but some players may find that the difficulty curve has some bumps on it.

Recently started following a 100% run and man it made everything so much smoother and clean. You forgot a VERY important tip about Cloud which is that in Punisher mode if you charge the square attack you'll do a short combo that gives Cloud the Berserk buff for 10 seconds which increases his damage by 30% but also makes you take 30% more damage. It's one of his most important skills and especially useful when enemies are staggered. This was also true in the Remake.

    Honestly I'd prefer if Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth had these type of difficulty, compared to remake, the combat definitely feels more engaging because you never know if the enemies could actually high diff you. The spike in difficulty could also be the result of 2 things. 1) We are thrown into the deep end of the story. The Junon area is after the midgar serpent, The Kalm region, Gold Saucer, etc. So we're playing the game equivalent about 15-20 hours in.
    2) The FF7Rebirth's new dynamic difficulty feature. The dynamic difficulty scales bosses to your current level so you'll always have a challenge. Added with the fact that we're playing a demo that is 15-20 with materias and new mechanic we're not used to, surely many will find the enemies hard to beat.
    Don't worry though, the story starts with Nibelheim flashback so we have room to adapt to the game. One more important thing is that the performance mode in the official release of the game is 100x better than the performance mode in the demo.
    Gameranx made a before you buy video on FF7 rebirth. Gameranx has early access to the game. In 1:19, 1 minute and 19 seconds in the video, he says and I quote from him, "The game runs buttery smooth on performance mode on PS5, it looks fantastic overall. DO NOT let the demo visuals fool you, the actual game looks way better."

      You should use bonus rounds when not using Maximum Furry. When you're about to run out of rounds use it again and reload. When you add that with overcharge he does really good damage. Aerith's new teleport ability can be used to dodge all attacks, you can also use it to teleport to the enemy and blast them with Sorcerous Storm.

    Use Barratt as a tank. Seriously - Steelskin and use him to drag aggro if you're struggling. That annoying Fonadu bird? Tank it hard with Barratt then use Arieth to lay a ward > run away> use wind > teleport to her ward.
    Additional: Arieth's R1 allows an ally to cover you. Her teleport has a slight delay so R1 might be preferred in situations.

    • @Nosidda

      My thoughts exactly. Getting in the air should not be this needlessly complex. I put ten hours into the game before quitting, and never knew it was even possible to get into the air. I came across so many enemies that were in the air, and it did nothing but frustrate me that I couldn't go after them without switching to someone who had range like Barret.

      I can't speak for Rebirth yet but a large part of the problem with 7R's combat comes down to the ATB mechanic. You lose the majority of your functionality if you don't have an ATB segment, so if you use a skill and then get destroyed by an enemy, you're wandering almost dead with no way to heal. I can't think of any other game that doesn't let you just use items when you need to; usually the limitation is how many you can use or carry in one battle, which is much, much more sensible and fair.

    aerith already damage monster in FF7Remake. arcane ward is available there and ATB ward. imagine 3 character all use firaga in that circle and each add synergy materia to it too. that was equal to 6 firaga + 12 fire. more than enough to melt the boss. thats "tri disaster" paradigm in FF13 setting, if 2 character we call it "dual casting", if one character we call it "blaster"

    The difficulty spike is because they revamped the combat system entirely and attempted to lean indy the action game difficulty and style without giving us the action game system to deal with these issues.
    They want you to block but actively punish you for blocking (the fact that quite literallyevery enemy has unblockable attacks). They didn't increase your speed but even the introductory enemies are multitudes faster and more aggressive... the game design is poor and there's a reason it isn't doing as good in sales as expected and why it didn't shake up the scene when it arrived like remake did

      @@jaytico5835Huh? That's completely reasonable. And not in like a "get gud" way. By the time you have cure materia, potions become irrelevant and are more useful outside of battle given the small amount of HP they give. (There's even an option to take them more than one of a time if I remember correctly. Think it's L1 out of battle? Haven't played it in a year.) You should not be running around with the sole purpose to fill ATB in VII Remake. Maybe a few times early on, but if you're hours in and running around to get an atb charge you're... Giving yourself an unneeded challenge? You should be using the attacks on triangle (punisher mode/overcharge/etc) to fill atb, or switching characters if you've aggroed too much.

    I love the combat system in this game, but one thing FF16 and 13 does better than Remake (and the Rebirth demo) is when I died, 9/10 times its because I did something stupid or was under leveled. In Remake (which I platinumed and got the Gotterdamarung so I'm not terrible at the game) a lot of times, me dying was because the game decided to screw me over and not because I made I made a mistake.
    Attacks that one shot your party, getting hit by random shit off screen, random enemy aggro, and dumb party member AI were things that frustrated me about 7 Remake. I was getting a sense of that in this demo. When I fought Phoenix every time it decided to fly around the map at low altitude, It would scoop one of my party members with it. This is just a demo though, and some of the problems I have may be gone in the full game as we level up and get more Materia.
    For those having a tough time, put the game on easy then ramp it up when you feel comfortable. It makes learning the game's mechanics less frustrating. When the full game comes out, I'm considering playing on easy then once I max out my gear and beat the game, I'll put it on hard.

I feel like every encounter has some particular way they want you to do it and nothing else will work. I also feel like there are way too many attacks littering the field so I am constantly being interrupted or taking damage to the point that I can never get into flow. In Remake I could bounce between characters to deal with being overwhelmed, but that doesn't seem to work in this game. I also sucks trying to use things like Aerith's wards in conjunction with magic attacks as she build ATB too slow and is constantly pressured making it too hard to use her enough to get ATB and unleash any actual attacks. The combat just isnt nearly as fun and way more punishing. Really don't enjoy it this time around.

      Aerith is your magic crystal cannon. Does a lot of magic damage but you have to shield her. Equip First Strike, ATB assist and Steadfast Block. Use also Vitality materia and give Aerith a strong defense.
      You can also use the "bodyguard" sync skill. A very good idea is to have Red XIII as he accumulates damage, he also fills his 'vengeance mode' giving access to strong attacks and abilities.

  • @nameless646
    @nameless646 2 месяца назад +1

    The combat in Rebirth for an overwhelming majority of the game is intuitive enough and forgiving of mistakes and has plenty of opportunities to learn how to utilize the new synergy mechanics.
    Completing all of the intel and side quests will also go a long way to ensure that the player can easily match the next set if challenges that they have to face.
    Where all of that ceases to apply are some of the Brutal Challenges and Legendary Bouts which can only (currently) be defeated by utilizing exploits that seem as though they were overlooked, or by becoming ridiculously good at spamming Perfect Block timing or dodging the enemies for upwards of an hour or more per challenge.
    I've not tried a Hard Mode playthrough yet, but I already defeated the classified enemy intel for Genji Gloves with ease, and stockpiling cushions is simple enough to get the remaining manuscripts.
    I have no complaints with the overall difficulty of the game or the game itself, but some of these endgame challenges are too broken for a large portion of the playerbase and that's where the Zack and Sephiroth content is at. But what's the ppint of playing as them in one off challenges when those challenges are nore frustrating than fun? Overly difficult mini games that deviate for too long from the main game (especially the mandatory Queen's Blood matches foe story progression) aren't good ideas either really.
    In part 3 I hope that there are less minigame requirements for the best gear and abilities, and endgame content that has fun and replayability in mind more than difficulty that becomes frustratingly obnoxious.

    Ok question.
    For someone who completely despise the combat in FF 7 remake .
    Is there a chance I would bare to finish the game without smashing my head on the controller? I really don't want to waste 70 bucks on a garbage ass combat system.

      @KainRaRPG  4 месяца назад +1

      I love the combat personally, but you can always play on easy and probably mashing buttons will be enough to finish it :D

    • @ronignino

      @@KainRaRPG the main problem it's not the difficulty. It feels unrewarding , it feels there's a lot of random stuf you can't control happening. It's neither an action RPG or turn base RPG which is annoying. I kinda like FF 15 combat, no issues with it. Didn't play 16 . Now that I tried the remake I'm really scared to buy FF 16 .
      As I mention, difficulty is not the problem, it just doesnt make any sense to me. The game for sure is not for me.

      @@ronigninoI agree the real "difficulty" just comes from a sloppy and terrible combat system. It's not an actual good difficulty like other action games.

    The combat is good and absoulutly bad at the same time i dont know how to explain it. Stunlocks in this game are crazy. You get one hit and after that u are open for 20 other hits and you can do nothing against it.
    Dodge is a absoulute mess in this game. Some attacks from the enemies have such a weird hitbox of their attacks its crazy you get hit sometimes from attacks 20 meter away from you. For example the grab attack from the big Scorpion enemy.
    Hard Mode feels completely unbalanced to me.
    I do the solo "missions" from chadley in Hard Mode atm. I just need that one from Caith Sith now and this shit is absoulute garbage imo. Enemies have way to much HP my fingers hurts after 2 3 attemps. Caith Sith plays like the biggest trash and the last enemy is the fucking Mindflayer, he is only shockable with synchro attacks. Ye lets do some synchro attacks when u alone. This is just so bad omfg.
    Then i idk why they nerfed the HP+ Materia so hard. 30%+ is just a joke. I get 7000 Hp with some Characters and u get one shot by so many things idk.
    I love FromSoftware games got Platin in Sekiro and Bloodborne but FF7 Rebirth feels in some ways way more harder then this games because its just unbalanced and unfair in some ways.

      Use Barratt as a tank. Seriously - Steelskin and use him to drag aggro if you're struggling. That annoying Fonadu bird? Tank it hard with Barratt then use Arieth to lay a ward > run away> use wind > teleport to her ward.
