Dude, you're attitude, demeanor and excitement in this video reminds me of your old videos. Focusing on being positive is doing wonders for you! Congrats and I hope to see more of this in the future. Cheers! 🍻
Hey mate, I just wanted to say that this is really kind and constructive feedback. As you have given Rick a pat on the back, I’d like to give you one. Positive feedback like this is rarely given, you should be proud of yourself.
The less color involved on the back of a golf club, or for that matter the crown, the better as far as I am concerned. Keep it simple, one color, either black or gray, and leave it at that. Kudos to Wilson. These look sharp!
Nah, sponsorships means no more testing, or at least confirms it will be biased testing. We don't need more 90 minute golf commercials, just 90 minutes of golf.
@@jeremyseitz905 I would argue Rick has built a solid reputation as an unbiased reviewer of equipment and that we wouldn’t see too much advertising of the product, we don’t get it with Mercedes and Toptracer
It’s cool to see you praising Wilson Staff. They were amazing clubs when I was growing up, if you could play with their blades you were an incredible golfer. Great to see them making good clubs and a come back!!!
Back to what you do best Rick, honest reviews, must say you’re lucky The Masters is delayed otherwise I wouldn’t have seen this till Monday next week 😂. Wilson need to stay where they are. Like the PXG plan, good quality clubs at a price lower than the more pricier manufacturers. 100% a market for it, but that only works when your get good honest independent reviews. Top stuff Rick
I've been playing golf for a little over 3 years, have my handicap at 18 currently. Bought my first new set of irons last year and got the Wilson D9 Forged. Holy hell, are they awesome. Forgiving, long, and look beautiful. I can only imagine what there play like in better players' hands 💪 Great review Rick.
@Golfpicker I was a whisker away from buying D9 forged last year after a fitting from Wilson. Got a great deal on Mizuno 923 Forged so I had to get those instead. But I still have a set of D9 Forged in my cart online, waiting for another price drop. ($499 currently. 5-GW)!!!
Nah. Not surprising, Rick. Just like the previous release, the Wilson Staff line are some of the VERY best irons on the market, both performance and feel-wise. I'm playing a 3-way combo set of Wilsons this year - D9 Forged long irons (also beautiful to behold, fantastic feeling and very forgiving), 2024 CB mid irons, and 2024 blade short irons. They blend beautifully in the bag; the feel is very consistent, and gapping is easy with some minor loft adjustment. And while aesthetics is subjective, they are SO good looking that every reviewer I've watched drools over them. The icing on the cake is that they are more affordable than their main rivals - by more than $500 here in Oz. Could they be priced higher? Absolutely. Could I afford to play them if they were? Maybe not ... 😞 I absolutely love having Wilsons in the bag again. You will too 😊
I'm honestly not surprised, Rick. You've been a fan of Wilson CB irons for quite some time. You spoke very highly of the Wilson V6 irons (got a hole in 1 if I remember correctly). You really enjoyed the last iteration of the CBs and now these. I think it's fate Rick. These should be in your bag.
He should consider it a challenge to be THE ONE to revive Wilson as a brand. He should go all in, work with them, use his platform to negotitate some equity and see how many clubs he can sell. I want to see Rick in a red “Make Wilson Great Again” hat with a red staff bag, touring the world, the ambassador the brand needs right now.
I have played a Wilson CB/MB combo set for a couple of years now and I have not had any issues with them shining in my face. Also that Crome finish doesn’t scratch. They almost look like new. Awesome clubs
Mate, I got myself these irons as soon as they were released. I am fortunate enough to be a club fitter and I did my own fitting for these. Tey are spectacular! the feel is butery soft yet clear and crisp at the same time. Flushing these clubs feels like nothing else. The fluid feel hosel definately adds to the feel of this iron. With traditional lofts and a lot of forgiveness. Great price for a great club. My whole bag is Wilson now and I am stupid happy! Regards, Dave.
I have been waiting for this review since these clubs were launched. I have a set of the V6's that I bought mostly off of your review 7 years ago and I had a set of the Pi7's before that. Great to hear that you love these clubs as much as you liked the V6's. I will have to get a set in the regular shafts now that I am a senior and the swing speed has dropped. Thanks for the good work, Rick! I'm sold!
Changed from my Taylor Made 790's to Wilson D9 with Recoil graphite shafts and they are awesome - son has the CB's and he stripes them. Their wedges though are the standout! 50, 54 and 58 are superb.
I keep an older Staff Model Wedge in my work van, and go to the local chipping areas when I have down time... Best Wedge I've ever had! Not sure why I play Mizuno 😂
Absolutely love my D9s. They feel so pure and go a bloody mile! I was worried about how shiny they were, but nearly a year later they still look brand new.
Same here on the Wilson D9s. I hit the Callaway BB 2004's for years, upgraded to the Callaway XR, and one month ago, I purchased a set of the Wilson D9 irons. The results have been stellar. 👍
I've been saying wilson is on the up and up for last few years! Underrated clubs and I've tried a few brands and these are the ones that felt the nicest and most consistent. Hoping to get some in the bag and not just dreaming at the golf store
That’s a powerful recommendation from a guy who can play ANY clubs anytime. I bought the Wilson D9 set last year and they are super. Lots of distance and forgiveness.
My 2021 CBs have held up amazingly. The heads are very well made in my opinion (manufacturing engineer in casting industry). The plating still looks great, and has never been an issue on course. I shouldn't even be playing them as a high handicapper, but when I saw them I had to get them. I regularly tee off with the 4i, not uncommon to put it 220 out.
I played the d7 forged for 2 years. The chrome finish never once dulled, but I did see marks on the matt finish on thr rear of the club's from when the clubs hit together. I absolutely loved them and will. Hopefully return to Wilson soon.
Loved my Staffs but moved to Ping which have served me well. I’m going back to Wilson as the feel and forgiveness was amazing. They won’t let you down, get them I ur bag!!
I played the T100 briefly after wearing out my previous gen CB’s while waiting for these to come out. These have been in the bag for a few weeks now and I absolutely love them. To be fair I have played Wilson irons for 8+ years now, every set since the V4.
I went to get my first fitted set ever last year and the CBs were so good. Snagged a 4-Gap wedge set. Ended up with a Wilson Dynapower 3W and 3H as well. Seriously, check those out if you're looking for budget friendly woods that are forgiving as can be.
Got the last iteration of this iron a month before these came out .Love them for distance being bang on the nose. Feel suberb and pretty forgiving on bad shots . I paid £479 5-gw custom fit kbs tour shafts . Bargain of the century!!
That’s awesome for Wilson to make irons like they used to back in the day. I was given a full set of Wilson Staff blades back around 1983 and learned to play golf with them. They small, but pure and I loved hitting them.
I bought these as well. I've played three rounds so far this spring. I also ordered the wedges (54* & 58*) but they're backordered until May 1st...So I hope they don't get delayed past that. Anyway, I picked up about 10 yards per club same shaft, stiffness, grip and all standard length & lie. My previous clubs were the 2014 version of these (I think) the Wilson Staff V4 FG CB's. I loved those...this newest 2024 version is lofted only 1 degree stronger compared to my old 2014 clubs. The 24 version feels softer than the 14, but it's also longer too. So, the technology is there. Loving my decision!
I bought a set of these last year and the only differed I can see is mine have the WS in the logo on the back. I play about 4 times a week and they still look brand new with hardly any signs of wear. Great clubs and very much underrated
I have been playing these irons since March of this year. I can't believe what they've done for my game. Precision and distance are massively improved. My 4 iron accurate distance was 180 yards. It is now 220. And every club has followed suit, more distance and accuracy. And I am just a hack around player.
I started playing 18 months ago and got a cheap set of Wilson's, quickly realises that the package sets aren't great so upgraded to the D9 irons and they are still so forgiving and so beautiful.
Going from "Duel of the Fates" into Gollum is next level editing, love the video Rick! Good job overall from the entire team, studio is pushing out good content lately.
Love WS irons. I love my D7 forged. Went to the Miz 923 Tours they are wonderful, a bit small and slightly unforgiving. I had a chance to buy the new WS CBs, took the plunge and couldn't be happier. They are a bit larger and much more forgiving. They feel just as good if not better as you vary from center. The size difference between the Tours and the CBs is the difference between the Ping Blueprint T to S.
Great video. I’ve had Wilson irons in my bag for 15 years. They have always played well for me. I hope they do go in your bag and you have some real success with them.
I play them, Rick. Put 'em in the bag. I am off a 3 HDP now from a 5.8 start of this season. I have control of ball flights, buttery feel, consistency of landing angle and spin, predictability of distance, and, more importantly, forgiveness when I don't do my part the best-even with the long irons. You won't regret it. Seek out a SPONSORSHIP! That is what both you and Wilson needs.
Great review Rick and very underrated is definitely a way of describing Wilson golf. Currently still gaming the d7 forged irons and couple of d9 hybrids and they are fantastic at a much more reasonable price. Looking hard at the new wedges as well but love my Cleveland's. Cheers.
Bought the V6 some years ago, loved them. Was actually thinking buying two set and keep one for the future. Then opted for the staff MB, looks killer and feels nice but do punish a poor strike. 1 week ago I custom ordered the CB. I was not looking for new irons, just wanted to try them out.
I got fitted last year, ended up getting the Wilson D9 forged iron set (2023 verion I guess of this new Wilson CB). during my fitting, and I hit everything, the performance (numbers on the GC Quad) for the Wilson were exactly the same as the Taylormade P770. Exactly the same!!! I chose the Wilsons because they were R10 000 ($560) cheaper. It was a no brainer for me to spend $560 less for the same performance... Also, the clubs looks amazing. the mirror shine does disappear after about a month or two, but the clubs still look and feel amazing.
The D9 Forged was replaced with the Dynapwr Forged, @melusimoloi4947. They are the 'game improvement' model in the Wilson Staff model family. If you like the D9s (I do) you'd really enjoy the CBs too. They have a lot more forgiveness than one would expect from a 'players' CB' iron. They combo wonderfully with the D9s too.
They look fantastic dnt they!! Not a chance I'll ever spend over a thousand pounds on a set of irons tho, doesn't matter what brand it is. I'll have to stick to the second hand market!
I have the staff model blades 5-pw and this cb iron in the 4 iron, I absolutely love them, move them left to right and right to left. My PXG’s now feel like cricket bats.
Still playing the d7 forged. That shine doesn’t fade at all and I’m by no means particular about keeping them clean. I’ve considered new irons multiple times just to realize these do everything already.
Ive got a set of Taylormade RBladez that look just like these with the milled face and polished toe and heal. I get tons of spin with them, for better or for worse. Over time they haven't worn too bad, just a few knicks on my go to clubs. It doesn't effect the ball flight though. I've been playing them for 4 or 5 years now and they're great
CB's are very nice but my strike wasn't consistent enough to game them. Went with the DynaPwr Forged with stiff stock graphite shafts. And the pricing is keen. Very happy with them.
Just got fitted last month, and it was down to these and the Srixon ZX7s; the Wilson's won for me. Besides the looks, the feel is just ridiculous. My miss is a toe strike and I lost maybe 3 yards with those, dispersion is fantastic. Still waiting for them to come, but can't wait to play my first round with them.
Ive been playing the Wilson Staff Pi7 irons for some time now. bout due for a new set. will pull the trigger on these soon. Pair them with the Carbon DynaPower Driver.
Well Rick, looks like you had some genuine trouser movement with these beauties. I've been playing with D7's & DG S300 shafts for a few years now, and even though I love playing with them, however they're starting to show their age, and I have been looking to replace them, but up until now, I haven't found anything close. I really like the address position with that thin top edge. These could be the ones.
Love my Wilson irons. I use the D 200. Not a great golfer but they're by far my favorite... would love to see Staff sponsor you Rick!! I bet that would be great for them.
I like that mirror effect on the toe - it almost makes the toe disappear with the reflection of the grass so it really accentuates the middle of the face.
Yes Go Rick !! I love Wilson clubs I have a set of Dynapowers. Great to see Wilson starting to get the recognition they deserve. Great clubs for a fair price
I've been playing the D300 from Wilson for a few years now. I also play TaylorMad M3 drivers and woods and Cleveland RTX4 wedges. HDC 26 I'm not sure whether new clubs will give me a better HDC. I like the Wilson clubs.
Spotted these in the pro shop the other day, and they definitely stood out looks wise against a lot of the competition. Cheaper here in New Zealand by a good $600 (for 4 - PW), at least comparing them against the T100 and T200’s.
Talking about shiny finish, when you set the 3-iron down, it looked like there was only the milled face of the club there, because the toe and heel blended right into the turf because it was like a mirror on it. 😂
Hi Rick - great video. I was chatting with a club fitter a few weeks back. I was in a blind wedge fitting, thinking that id end up with some cool new Vokeys - tried 8 different wedges, and one in particular was just perfect. I handed it back to the fitter and was just about to hammer the amex , expecting to see Vokey on the back of the club - when it turned out be the Cleeveland RTX 6. Do you think the likes of Srixon, Cleveland and WS are simply overlooked in the UK due to advertising budgets? Is it the lack of visibility on tour? I played with a corporate free AD333 ball yesterday - it was great. I normally play WS Triad - great balls at a small amount of the cost.
When you said it’s dry in the studio… it would be interesting to hit some dry balls then spray the club/ball and turf with water and see if the equipment in the studio picks up the difference? Great review as per 👍🏻
Rick, I have an important question for you. I am looking into buying a 2 iron to have for an option off the tee on tighter fairways. I found a P790 2iron for a great deal, but it’s head only. I have a stiff Mitsubishi kai’li shaft lying around and was wondering if it would be a good idea to throw the old driver shaft in the 2 iron. What are your thoughts?
Go on Rick do it. Love Wilson. Using Titleist is predictable, you have the power to change people’s perception of a brand . Love the engraving around the hossle 👍
We just got the demo of these at the course I work at. They look amazing. Definitely going to hit the 7 we’ve got when I get some time. Not sure if they’ll replace my Takomo 301 cb/mb, but it is certainly a possibility.
Salutations from Canada. Can you test the Dynapower forged against other forged? Ping i530, P790s, etc... More people need to know how great the Wilson DFs are. Love your stations. Really helping me drop strokes and stay positive. Keep it up.
I think it's great that you (and others) are giving Wilson credit for making some really fine clubs - they do deserve some love!! But.....I wish you had mentioned what shaft you selected, as IMHO that spec is just as important as the club(head). So, um, whudjaget.....??
Wilson Staff FG Tour V5 are in my bag. Looking for new ones and I can’t help but look to WS. Always great quality and feel. These and the Titleist line up look like the best ones this year.

They’re the only golf item I would since irons require quite a bit of customization. It’s better to get a set fit to you that can last years.
Love wilson irons. Those are so nice. Great to see reviews coming back.
I switched to the Staff ball last year and was equally impressed. Will definitely give these a whirl next time i buy.
I agree, Wilson deserves to have Rick as an ambassador. Great products at less cost for the golfer. These clubs look very very nice indeed.
Great review as always, would be interested in reviews of the rest of the 2024 line up from Wilson - dynapower forged, model blades and the ZM wedges
I've been playing them for 4 or 5 years now and they're great
Really hope they do go in the bag as Wilson irons are sooooooo underrated
I don’t think they do anything that his T100’s don’t do. He really should get a bit more of a forgiving iron.
Loved those when I had them.
How about trying the Cobra King Forged Combo set???
I’m actually looking for the 100 anniversary clubs from 2014. They are button back throwbacks.
The mirror finish seems to bring focus to the hitting area of the face.
Love my Wilson irons. I use the D 200. Not a great golfer but they're by far my favorite... would love to see Staff sponsor you Rick!! I bet that would be great for them.
It's feeling like the old Wilson V6 days. I love my Wilson D9 forged
I like that mirror effect on the toe - it almost makes the toe disappear with the reflection of the grass so it really accentuates the middle of the face.
Been playing CBs for several years now - bought the prior version a few months after they came out. They are a wonderful club. And a great price.
I play the previous Model CB's and they are amazing. I knew these would be the same, if not better. Not suprised there straight in the bag
I like how Rick has said he is going to get fit in the past then just plays something he likes the look of. Something most of us would do tbh.
I know. I think it would benefit him so much
I've just bought some 12-yr old Wilson Staff FG Tour V2 irons. My Ping G425s are now sulking in the shed.
HDC 26
I'm not sure whether new clubs will give me a better HDC.
I like the Wilson clubs.
I love Wilson Staff, I use their TM22 putter and I LOVEEE it.
Casually dropping content just as the first group goes out at Augusta. Loving your style!
Best clubs out there. I have combo with Wilson blades and cb. Love them both👍
I'm with you @Pecka1988. It may be true that "Nothing feels like a Mizuno", but nothing feels better than a Wilson 😁
I am playing the forged Wilson this year. All positive at this point. Pure hits feel like butter.
I got the D9 forged, it's like having a mirror by the ball. They stay shiny too 😎
Me too,my 1st proper set after a beginner set, maybe a bit too good for my handicap but love the look and feel
Lofts are strong though. I prefer the traditional loft of these
@@mrmatt8949 True. I got mine bent up a degree or so. For a 20hcp, the extra distance is helpful.
I always played wilson iron for years in the uk, the fluid feel blades were amazing, I only changed to bridgestone irons when I moved to the states
Awesome video Rick. Wilson's making em great and affordable for everyone. Glad you're giving them a shot.
Such sweet looking irons, great sound also!
We just got the demo of these at the course I work at. They look amazing. Definitely going to hit the 7 we’ve got when I get some time. Not sure if they’ll replace my Takomo 301 cb/mb, but it is certainly a possibility.
Love my Wilson irons. I play the D9 forged and love them.
I’ve recently been to get fitted and went in with an open mind in the end I had the dynapower. They are absolutely fantastic
I've a set of the D7 forged irons, which I've played for the past 3 seasons and there's not a mark on them. Great quality and fantastic clubs.
Have played the Staff CB for 3 years now. Amazing feeling. Wildon clubs hold up 100%
I have the prior model of the Staff Model CBs and they are, in the words of Rick, phenomenal. Put these in the bag!
Finally Rick!!! Wilson is so underrated. I have the C300 forged. Amazing irons!!! Feel great with players forgiveness
Wilson is back ! I play D7 Forged. Not because it’s what I can afford but because they feel amazing and out perform anything in its class.
I am gaming these now, and absolutely love them. Cheers Rick!
Wilson Staff FG Tour V5 are in my bag. Looking for new ones and I can’t help but look to WS. Always great quality and feel. These and the Titleist line up look like the best ones this year.
