Stunning, just stunning.
very nice to see these incredible insturments. thank you for sharing.
Some real stunners on display there! Twenty something years ago, I had the chance to hear a quartet of decorated Strads for an all chamber music concert. It was really something to hear all those together in that setting, totally unlike hearing a soloist compete with an orchestra.
It was like listening to a family reunion of sorts, or old friends telling each other stories about their travels. Except that the old friends were all several hundred years old, and there was so much to be told.
Really appreciate the eye candy at the museum.
I went to a instrument museum in Nashville Tennessee once. Lots of guitars mandolins and other things. Was great to see them under glass and I always remember the trip. You just gave me that feeling all over again. Thanks for taking us there Graham.
Thanks for taking the rest of us along. Interesting vid for sure
I think my two favourite instruments there are the gaspar where 2 of the corners are rounded and the lupot. :-)
i will say it is a shame that there under glass . if you know you know . how ever i find it great that you are able to be inspired by the greats . im sure you can feel there energy maybe imagine what they were thinking when they did what they did . i sure hope you enjoyed the visit im sure you had a grand time .
QUESTION ! now that you have seen the work of the masters will we see some of that inspiring art work influence future work from Master Graham Vincent ?
I'm always trying to improve and I hope some of this rubs off on me!!
Dang - I was in Oxford on a Narrowboat and didn’t realise these violins were there …….
Fun tour. Were some of the bridges very plain on purpose? Another had concave sideds, one E-string insert, and fancy one on Cipriani Potter.
The fancy one on the Cipriani Potter is a Strad type bridge. All his violins (as far as I'm aware) had similar.
The Messiah because whenever it was talked about, it didn’t turn up..
He was waiting for the varnish to dry..... ;-)
