MOAB Kane Creek Easter Jeep Safari JL Wrangler Fun Run with EVO

- While most of our time at the Moab Easter Jeep Safari was spent covering the badass EVO Gladiator pickup truck, by the end of the week, it had to be parked in the arena and put on display for the show. Needless to say, our last day in the promised land would still be spent out on the trail and with our good friends from EVO, only this time, they would be wheeling their Sting Gray SEMA JL Wrangler and iconic Stars & Stripes JL Wrangler that was featured in the 2018 JLX. For our final run, we decided to take on a fun trail that we always enjoy if only for how scenic it is and that would be, Kane Creek. Of course, with off camber shelf roads and obstacles like Hamburger Hill, you know it's always gonna be a good time. We hope you enjoy.

That looks like another great trail. I have to put it on the list for the next time out there.
Thanks for the great videos.
Definitely a fun one and one that's pretty too :)
First trail I ever did !!! Took my grandson last year and ended up doing it backwards in a '16 JK Sport with no experience, 33in tires, and didn't know about sway bar disconnects or airing down... We made it though with no damage !! It was an awesome time !!!
🇳🇱❤️🇺🇸👍✌️
Such great video editing skills. I love the way you make them. Will you be coming to Texas next month to wheel K2?
Thank you. Not sure if we can make it out to Texas but we're trying. Our problem is that I don't know when our Gladiator is coming in.
Looked like a blast as always! Did I miss something? Last I saw, you were running Cooper Tires. I want to know how they did for you? I’ve seen mixed reviews.
Still running Cooper STT Pros. We're the white JL :)
Good stuff that is one kick butt trail as always be safe 👍👍👍👍👍
You still make off roading look easy
LOL - it just means that I'm old and I've been running these trails for a very long time.
@@wayalife your just good at what you do, I'm 49 and went from muscle cars and trucks to my first jeep. Keep up the good work
You're too kind - thank you and congratulations on getting your first Jeep :)
@@wayalife thank you
Great video Eddie. Nice to see the bombers in action. Recently installed the Evo DD LA and was going to tackle and fab up the weld on sliders, but this video might have changed my mind. You always have the best content showing real world testing. :)
I won't lie, I wasn't 100% sure of these but so far, they've been holding up better than I thought and I'm really happy for it.
Another great video! So glad my wife Sunny and I were able to meet you and Cindy at the Gladiator expo on Main St. last week. Keep up the great 👍 video story telling!
It was a real pleasure meeting you, your wife and family out in Moab :)
No Mall Krawin here that's for sure. OlllllllO
LOL - good times for sure :)
great video you guys! just the right combo of music and jeep roar! please keep them coming
Awesome, we're so glad you enjoyed it :)
Eh getting off the trail with sun still in the sky is overrated lol. Great to see you guys run this trail as I don’t recall ever seeing you guys do a video on Kane creek.
Really? I think you need to look way back as I'm pretty sure we've done a couple of videos on it in the past. Still, a great trail and yeah - getting off the trail before the sun goes down is over rated :)
WAYALIFE challenge accepted. Any reason to dig up old WAYALIFE videos is a good reason. WAYALIFE marathon is in order. Oh and new drinking game. Every time I type WAYALIFE I have to take a shot....this is gonna get infesting.
So I did this trail with a group of buddies this year and that was my first time in moab pretty much. Did this in a stock 98 Cherokee with just 33's and I dont know how I didnt break anything but it made it. Hamburger hill is way more washed out now since the flooding moab has had so there is not much dirt left in between the rocks making it look way more treacherous than that, but it was still a blast none the less!!!
Man, I don't even have a Jeep and I can really appreciate how you test your product and those that you represent! Keep it up.
Thank you :)
Great video! I’ll be in Moab next month and I’m going to hit this trail but I want to go in the opposite direction in other words I want to start the trail where you finished. Can you please let me know the location where you ended this trail? I’d greatly appreciated. Thank you
I stand corrected on the new sliders; now that I see them in the wild, the bolts do indeed look more protected (tucked out of the way) then it did in the shop... natural lighting for better depth illumination - yeah... that's the ticket! =-) Great video as always!
LOL - not saying the could never get hit but they are tucked in a corner between the frame rail and outer edge of the rocker guards. The odds of them getting hit are just very low as you can see.
Love your guys' videos! coming from a wanna be jeeper tucked down in NZ! haha
Awesome, so glad we can share them with folks around the world :)
Awesome awesome 🍺🍺🍺 Eddie ,,
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it :)
After watching this awesome video, I want to go back to Moab.
Good times for sure! So glad that you and Steph were able to join us for the fun :)
Fun, fun, fun .. seen a ton of Jeep's heading home today on I-40. All looking pretty straight .. must be saving them for next year.
LOL - there is always next year to think about :)
EVO rock-rails look like they are doing a great job, scraped up but look straight & true. And they look awesome! Great video, thanks for sharing!
Yup, I'd be the first to say that I wasn't 100% sure about them but after our trip to Moab, I feel a lot more confident in their ability to protect our Jeep and yes, they do look good :)
Someday I will conquer Hamburger Hill, it has kicked my but twice. WayAlife.
It's a tough obstacle for sure. Hoping you're able to do it sooner than later.
Your jeep is killing it
Thank you :)
Love watching all your videos. What exhaust are you guys running on your JL? Sounds great!
Actually, we installed the Dynomax exhaust delete amzn.to/2U1EKhq
Why don’t you guys buy something for some good unpacking action??? 🤣
LOL!! Now that you mention it, we should have :)
Thanks for sharing. Great as always. We are here now... hitting a bunch of stuff this week. No crowds the week after EJS. OllllllO
Best time to be there - enjoy :)
Awesome. Man I wish we had trails like that out east. Still my goal to come out there someday!! Also you nailed it on those bolts. I mentioned out loud I was one of those guys when you said that about the bolts my wife’s rolled her eyes!
LOL - too funny. You definitely need to make it out to Moab someday :)
Hey look a creek named after me.... Lol.
LOVE IT!!! Cannot wait until we get ours!!! All of em look Bad Ass! Thanks as always for the great video! 👍👌😉
Awesome, so glad you enjoyed it :)
Thanks! There is no doubt in my mind which Jeep you’re in lol!! I really wish I owned it. Awesome
LOL - Glad you enjoyed our video :)
Always a great video.
I appreciate the great video. Because watching a great video expands my dream.
Just stumbled upon this one! Epic stuff! Keep it up.
LOL - glad you found it :)
Wow Eddie, this trial looked Heavy Duty, left sum Warrior marks i see also, very Cool Bro.
It's a fun trail for sure and we're glad that you enjoyed our video of it :)
You really are tempting me to move out west. keep on jeeping!! Love your videos!!
LOL - well, we could live anywhere but we choose to live where we do. Glad you enjoyed this video :)
absolutely loved the sound of the jeep going uphill! well done
Cool - glad you enjoyed the video :)
I agree, @@wayalife what exhaust are you running?
@@snowren24 Actually, none. Or, I should say, the Dynomax exhaust delete. There's a video of this coming soon :)
@@wayalife Thanks! It sounds great!
Love watching your videos the best rock crawling/trailing RUclips channel in my opinion. Thanks for sharing
We're so glad to hear you say as much, thank you :)
I did it the hard way last year at the tight squeeze around that passenger side big boulder (@3:12+). Disadvantage of wheel spacers is that it makes you a little wider.....SO I went over the boulder. Not to bad with an EVO Double Throwdown suspension and 40's. Wish I could add a pic...! Anyway, as always, thanks for the vid.
LOL! When we're out there with Moby, that's the line we normally take as well :)
That trail gets harder every time I do it.
Awesome have a great time thanks
earliest yet 3 minutes old lol
Nice to see how well is working your Jeep Eddie.
Glad you enjoyed the video :)
How are you liking your 513 gears? I got the 2018 2.0 with 37 inch tires and I'm about to put the 488 gears on next week. I'm hoping that I'm choosing the right size. I sometimes notice that with the stock gears it seems to have a hard time shifting when Im in 4wheel low going through a snow drift or steep hill. It kinda bogs down while going into 2nd for example. Kinda like when you were going over that rock in one of your videos a few months ago where you lost power and you had to roll back. But If I put it in 4 wheel low then manual 1st it does fine in everything. Mine also does great on all highway hills and is very fast with lots of power. Did your 513 gears help that? thx
We have a 3.6L so it's a bit different but I actually did an OP ED about this very topic ruclips.net/video/-bUxXM0GCr4/видео.html
I finally bought a brand new Jeep Renegade Trailhawk! I can't wait to take it on light offroad!
Congratulations to you!
@@wayalife thanks mate! 😊
Another great video Eddie, I just finally ordered a 2 door Rubicon last Saturday. But I don't know if I will ever get to your level.
Congratulations to you! Time on the trail will teach you a lot :)
Didn't check all the comments just decided to ask you Eddie: Is your Rear Stinger custom made or can it be purchased?
LOL, it's all good. I make and sell them. Here's a link to the new and improved version of it www.wayalife.com/store/proddetail.php?prod=PARTS-HITCH-STINGER
traffic I want to be in :) great video as always 👍
LOL - ain't so bad when it's in a place like Moab :)
The JL with the red front bumper and red roof rack... Where did he get that rack? It’s a nice low profile and looks great!
EVO Manufacturing
I’ll take your ‘traffic’ any day! 😜 Looks so fun. Always makes me look at my XJ dreaming of what I need to modify next to join y’all on the trail! 🐞IIII🐞
Tow points front and rear + rocker guards and you're good to go :)
Tow points- check 😀
Rocker guards- don’t have, so will look into it
Lockers- on wish list 😊
I will see y’all on the trail someday!!
Love your videos. I live through you. : )
So happy to hear that you're still liking our videos :)
I love my JK. But I do admit that JL is definitely more graceful on the rocks.
I don't know about that. With the right suspension, the JK can be just as graceful.
Wow, two posts in two days. Ripped through chicken corners today all the way to hamburger hill and was defeated by the first obstacle in the X3. Total bummer. We watched a pack of horses mosey on by as soon as we cleared the trail. Next time we're gonna bring the jeep. Not feeling great about todays failure after watching your whole crew make it! :)
We made it to Moab the week after EJS. It's so nice to have all the trails all to ourselves! We hit Rachel on the way down (bust) and spent the night in Mesquite, which looks like an excellent place to stage a ride from, and we were astonished by the incredible scenery between those two places. The country between Bryce and Moab was equally spectacular! We'll hope to catch you guys on the home turf sometime soon and go for a ride, and grab some chow! We take delivery of our first jeep, (a hemi JK) next week ! Anyway, we always look forward to your great video's and great content. Keep it up you guys! It's folks like you who are making RUclips the place to go for information on people, places and things!
Thank you for another great video.
It's our pleasure and so happy to hear you liked it :)
Another great video! Thanks👍
Awesome, glad to hear you enjoyed it :)
that looked like so much fun I would like to try it just once or maybe twice
LOL - It really is a lot of fun and one that I would recommend highly.
I would but no funds
these are fantastic videos you do.
Thank you, we really are glad to hear you enjoy them :)
Those trails look like a load of fun another great video thanks.
You definitely need to get out there and enjoy it for yourself :)
Wayalife I totally agree wheeling out West looks totally different than what I’m used to in NE Arkansas. I’ll have to make the trip out someday.
i can't wait to get out there your videos are simply amazing! thank you
Thank you. We really are happy to hear you enjoy our videos :)
Great video. Is that a built in winch point in the rock at 9:05 ?
Yup. You'll find them here and there throughout Moab.
Great video Eddie! Love your content! I have installed a Rancho 2" Sport Suspension lift on my JLUR because of one of your earlier videos and it is amazing both on and off road so thanks for all you do and keep the fabulous videos coming!!
Awesome! So glad that we've been able to help you out and that you still enjoy our videos :)
@@wayalife, I'd love to see a video of checking the entire suspension to make sure it meets torque specs. I'm fairly sure most shops use the German "Gudundtite" method when installing lifts and don't check torque specs (or don't know them). It would be nice to have a video for reference so that every now and then I could do it myself. Just a thought...
Hey Eddie, where can I buy that hitch skid thingy. I already learned my lesson about departure angle once.
Actually, you can buy one here www.wayalife.com/store/proddetail.php?prod=PARTS-HITCH-STINGER
What kind of exhaust do you have wayalife?
This one :) ruclips.net/video/YPWUCExCR5Y/видео.html
They grey JL at 3:00 sounded like a diesel!!
That's funny because it actually has a 2.0L turbo :)
this put a big smile on my face. One thing i always wonder is, is it about getting scratches that people dont buy the flashier colors? rarely see anything other than gray, white, and red jeeps in your videos. Dont get me wrong, they are all amazing looking, im just curious if thats a choice because of offroading?
Well, white has always been our go to color especially for a first model out. That being said, we would have gotten Mojito had it been available at the time. I think a lot of what you see is that these were the only colors available when the JL was released than anything :)
@@wayalife I see, thanks for the responce as always. Mine is Ocean Blue, and i rarely see them in general. I think i saw someone with one on the JLX trip you guys did last year.
Are there trails in Moab that stock JKs can handle and have fun? I'd like to tow my jeep and RV camp somewhere around there.
Oh yeah, there are lots of them. Fins and Things, Hell's Revenge, Secret Spire, Top of the World - I could go on and on.
Wayalife thanks I'll have to take a trip there
Do y’all ever bend driveshafts?
Not typically but it can happen. More times than not, we clear off weights but that's about it.
great as always Eddie!!
Thank you :)
Heey maan i wanna ask u something I'm about to buy a JL BUT I would like to lift it as yours and the same size of tires as well , can I ask what are you running cuz I can remember maan
In this video, we were running a Rancho 3.5" lift with 37" Cooper STT Pros.
What lift with 37 would you recommend me if I'll do a calico and some long driver like all the way to Utah???
I always enjoy watching it.
It is an ugly terrain. It is beautiful.
I want to run with my own SUZUKI JIMNY, but it is impossible with my skill.
It is a scene that can not be impossible in Japan.
That blue blue sky😎
Pretty amazing up against the red rocks for sure :)
So Cool!!! Love your videos you guys. Bummer about Zane's quarter panel though. How did your tail hitch Stinger work for you this week? Thinking about getting one of those. Keep up the great work!
There's a reason why we're still running trimmed factory fenders on Moby even after over 12 years of use. In fact, that's been the case with ALL our JK's and now JL - factory fenders will bend, crush and/or tear off well before they can do body damage as is even shown in this video. With a hard hit, tube fenders will CAUSE damage to the body and we've seen this time and time again. In fact, the group ahead of us had the same thing happen with metalcloak fenders. As far as the hitch stinger goes, worked like a champ just as it has for years.
Great video as usual! How smooth is the ride of the rs9000xl shocks on the street? I need something better for my wife's JLUR. Thanks!
Honestly, on the street is where they shine and even more so than most monotube shocks. Where they're at a disadvantage is off road bombing across the desert.
Great video and a fantastic trail.
Are lockers necessary on this trail?
I don't have lockers (never have), and was curious if you really need them for this trail. (Kane Creek is on my bucket list)
Lockers are not necessary but they will help to make life a lot easier. If you go without them, be sure to go with other Jeeps that are more capable as you may need their help especially if you're not real familiar with bumping ledges in Moab.
Nice! You didn’t really show the exposure to the drivers side on Hamburger Hill and how intense that is! Spooky 👻. Great video!!
Yeah, I really wish we had and could have gotten more footage of everything but we had the RR4W group behind us and needed to keep moving. Sorry.
Wayalife it was a great video
What's up Ed,
Got a question for you in regards to T-case's. Mel mentioned last couple of videos that he prefers the sport transfer case over the Rubicon. If I'm not mistaken he stated that the Rubicon transfer case was too low geared and so he got the best of both worlds with the sport t-case of low and high. He didn't go to in depth about it but I was wondering what's your opinion on it and which do you prefer.
It really depends on how you wheel. Mel's point about the Rubi t-case being too low is that IF you've got your transmission shifted into 1st, you won't be able to throttle out of a tough situation. It'll just rev up and not go anywhere and this can be a very real problem. In situations like that, the driver needs to know of the potential problems and be shifted in a higher gear. The flip side to this is that if you're stuck in something like deep snow, it can be super helpful to have a really low crawl so that you can inch yourself out using what little traction you have. For the most part, I would agree with Mel in that with the all new 8-speed auto, the Sport/Sahara t-case is all that most people will ever need.
How often do you break stuff? Some spots look like you could have crawled over stuff instead of bumping it pretty hard lol
LOL - If I break anything, you can be sure that we'd make a video about it. That being said, you should come out to Moab and try crawling some of the spots you're seeing.
Did you make that hitch mounted protector for your spare? I haven't seen anything like that for sale anywhere.
As a matter of fact, I do make them and sell them here www.wayalife.com/store/proddetail.php?prod=PARTS-HITCH-STINGER
I Love It! Thanks for bringing us with you! How can I get a Wayalife Decal?
You can order decals here: www.wayalife.com/store/categories.php?cat=8
Where was the Gladiator??
It was at the vendor show on display.
Last time I was this early Extreme Terrain was still selling copyrighted material
LOL
Great video thank you!
Holy a door dinger in Moab! Reminds me of the trip I took to mottino wash.
LOL - if you're referring to the body damage, factory fenders would have prevented that.
Changed the exhaust huh...
Yup - just before Moab. Got a video coming on it soon :)
Great Vid!! Mel is a brave man standing on that rock at 8:44
LOL!! Not exactly the best place to be standing for sure.
Am I the first to comment??
Is there a bypass around the first rock in the beginning by chance. I’ll be out there in a few weeks with a much bigger vehicle at that looks tight.
Sorry, there isn't a bypass. It's tight for sure and tippy. I should note that I have seen a built up Suburban make it through but it was scary as hell.
Wayalife That’s what’s though, thanks. I’m a little smaller that a suburban, but not much.
That’s my favorite trail! I am heading to Moab tomorrrow! Yahoo!
I'll be in Moab friday-monday. I always camp at The ledges "A"
Have fun out there :)
What suspension are you running? Last I saw you were using Dynatrac Enduro sport
Currently, we're testing out a Rancho 3.5" lift.
Wayalife I hope there wasn’t an issue with the Dynatrac, I installed it on my Jeep this weekend.
Nope, no issues. We've just moved on from 2-2.5 inch lifts and now testing out 3-4 inch lifts.
Mmm
Engine fan (4:40)??
LOL - it's because Mel always likes to run his AC on full blast. The fan automatically comes on when you do.
Thank you Eddie you guys always entertain us and teach us a few things
Happy to hear it :)
Loved the video!
Glad to hear it :)
Nice run. Safe Travels Brother!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Hamburger Hill, May 10th-20th, 1969.
I don't know that I'd replace that panel. I've left the offroading injuring on my Dakota. Chicks dig scars.
