Somehow just found this channel and this series about Moab sure hope it’s a Moab 2020 video coming soon these trucks are awesome just cool in a unique way
Hmm broken spider gears huh... Don't be surprised if you get a half shaft to pop out! The shaft holding the spider gears is the same shaft that holds the 2 half shafts apart keeping the axle rings in the socket. Only reason I comment is because I've gone though this before.
very cool trip, some of those off camber climbs and decents with 1 wheel in the air made me pucker in my office chair. Is is possible to get more articulation out of them maybe different spring rates?
Yes you can. Predator has recently made a "long travel" H1. But keep in mind that independent suspension is designed to do things a bit differently than a solid axle. They both have advantages and disadvantaged. And the H1 is designed to NOT have to have all 4 wheels on the ground at all times. It is a different driving experience to say the least, but works well when you know how to use it and what to expect.
+Ken Francisco Thank you Ken! It was a blast, can't wait to release the other episodes! The lockers depend on the driver. Some use Detroits, some Auburn, and some are still dropping into LL and doing brake-throttle modulation.
I reckon I recall my first drive in my army surplus Humvee .I had just bought a weeks worth of camouflage shirts and cargo pants then my hand gun waiting period had just cleared so I went and picked up my new DE 50 and while on maneuvers at Starbucks we ran into some hostile Arabs who opened fire , so my commanding officer ... drinking buddy tommy... gave the go ahead to return fire we had 4 confirmed kills per the local sheriff's department and were promptly made POW ...turns out they were just friendlys coming from the pool and had a a hooptie with bad muffler...That's Hummer tough...lol
Felicito a éste grupo de personas por la travesía , Yo también lo disfruto desde casa , viendo y conociendo todo ésto. Lo que también gozo escuchar esos motores V8.
Great video 👍 Question. i have heard some people saying Humvee are extremely reliable, and i have heard some people saying they are not reliable.so can someone tell me.
Thanks! Great question! I'd say it comes down to the driver and how well he/she knows the truck as well as how much they keep up with the truck. The only issues I've ever had were because of driver error. A true HMMWV being used by the military is going to be going through the toughest stuff Carl can throw at it. As a daily driver of an H1 I know I can fix whatever happens vs a computer with wheels. Of course, I'm bias, haha!
No puedo dejar de preguntarme, bajo esas condiciones de travesia, cual seria el consumo de combustible , por kilometros o por minutos? alguien tiene una idea?
There's a mix. The white open top has stock torsens, the green open top has a detroit, and the rest have e-lockers. Thanks for watching Maurice, make sure to check out the more recent videos as well!
@@HumveeLifeUSA they all have auto boxes right? So you can easily apply the brakes with your left foot. Would you recommend torsen diffs with a manual gearbox?
I want another H1. Can any of you tell me about the reliability of the Alpha driveline regarding maintenance? I got burned on the 2000 I had. It was ALWAYS blowing hub seals and electrical problems. Plus the 6.5 was a dog. Had to put a crate engine in after it spun a main bearing. Any owners out there with some insight and comparative analysis? I don’t want to make the same mistake twice.
Go to www.hummernetworkforums.com and make a thread. It is the best place to find a proper info about H1. Many experienced owners are willing to help you.
you will likely need an alignment, yes. They're not hard to install, it just takes a day or two if you're on your own. What year is your truck and which state are you in?
I'm surprised people with H1's use lockers. I thought the brake-actuated traction control with the Torsen diffs was supposed to be just as good. Can someone with a hummer explain this to me? Does the traction control work well? How long does it take for the computer to realize a wheel is spinning and apply brake? Do you have to pump the brakes, or will it do it well automatically? Does relying on this system wear out or overheat the brakes? How much load can it transfer (if only one wheel had traction and you had center diff open, could the brakes shift enough torque to that one wheel to move the vehicle up an incline? How about with center diff locked?)? How much can the Torsen diffs multiply torque, i.e. what is the max load they could transfer to a wheel if the opposite wheel was near totally braked? What is the limiting factor - engine output, capacity of diff, or stress loads of axles or other linkages? Would like to understand this whole system better. Thanks.
Hey Abe! You can do BTM with or without a locker. I would believe that number one factor of whether a truck is using BTM or the driver flips a switch to turn on Eaton lockers or some other kind, is personal preference. Either way the truck works well. BTM does take some skill to figure out and do it right which some drivers love. Other drivers just want to flip a switch. Personally, I don't trust flipping a switch. Put it in 1st and LL, one foot on the brake and one on the accelerator and BTM your heart out. The Torsen 2 (T2) with TT4 traction control works, but it takes a couple moments from what I have heard. I do not have personal experience with these trucks as mine is a '95. A number of trucks with TT4 get rid of it and opt for upgraded or older systems. For in depth info to help answer your questions you can head on over to Flashoffroad where they discuss the Torsen: www.flashoffroad.com/features/Torsen/torsen_intheHummer.htm

Welcome and thanks dude! I've seen a few right hand drive HMMWVs. Next time I see a right hand truck I'll shoot it your way.
The SUTs seem more suited for climbing obstacles on this course than the wagons. The man in the green SUT is an expert.

💯
How does he turn those rear ones?
that's true awd, I like how the front wheel kept spinning when it was off the ground..24:50 is a epic crossing
Yeah he made that look easy. With my Jeep TJ and a rear locker that spot is tough but doable. It's a good spot to get out and spectate others.
