There cannot be many museums in the world where you get to see such amazing work being done with such skill so close up, it really is a living museum of the highest calibre.
i work at the classic jet fighter museum in Adelaide Australia and we operate in the same fashion, very educational for our visitors
Brilliant, Before I retired iI was a rigger(airframe) loved it. @@toda304
Cheers Dave.
Thank you for another extremely informative and interesting video Neville. The insights gained from what you film and produce gives us "onlookers" a very rare look/understanding of the sheer magnitude of the design and construction of the Lancaster, revealing the brilliance of it's designer and the thousands who originally constructed and assembled the aircraft, and most importantly, the massive task the team have undertaken to restore Just Jane to airworthy condition. Thank you to you and to the team!!
Cheers Steve.
Thank you Neville for another very interesting update from Keith , Dave and Chris. I can see by the layers of kit the guys are wearing it not warm work this time of the year in a drafty hanger. Makes you realize what war time maintenance crews had to endure every day...Thank you again Neville and to all the team.
Cheers John.
I 'm going back 60 years now and can recall that the formed sections Keith was talking about were formed on the "Draw Bench" by mean of a "puller" which dragged the cut sheet through various sets of dies until the desired cross section was achieved. However, this was at Fairey Aviation so I guess other Companies had their own solutions. In between pulls, the strips were immersed in a molten salt bath which annealed the material allowing further deformation and repeating the process until section was fully formed.
Brilliant to know stuff like this... there is so much we take for granted and think we know it all until someone like you pops in and says..."Actually...." . Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words.@@Simon_Nonymous

Thanks for another great update Neville. First one of 2024. Good to hear from Keith and the other guys. Such a great bunch.Very skilled. Craftsmen every one of them. The detailing of their work is just staggering. Nothing phases them. They just dig in and get on with it. This restoration is in great hands that's for sure. Thank you Neville for your updates that you bring into our homes every week and allow us to see the progress of the restoration as it moves forward. Best wishes to you and all the gang at East Kirkby. 👍
Thanks Andy.
Happy 2024 Neville, and the amazing team at East Kirkby.
Cheers Simon.
"Turn it, throw it through the hole. Then you panic and follow it out..." 😂😂😂 Best description of baling out I've ever heard.
Great to see the work progressing. Thanks Neville!
Thanks Robert.
Thankyou Nev for another great video,i just hope the guys don,t have to wait to much longer before they can use their lifting gear, iam looking forward to seeing that. Cheers Dave.
Such skill. This is art at its highest level . Can't wait to see this fantastic machine fly.
Cheers Rob.
So interesting Neville . You would never believe this could be so complex. And to think the concept started with the Manchester which was designed by the great Roy Chadwick . Can you imagine he probably started the first drawings in the mid 1930 's ......incredible ! Thanks Neville .
Hi John, as they get deeper into the engineering the more amazed Iam.
This restoration is an engineering masterpiece and needs the refunding and worldwide recognition it deserves !!
Cheers Curly.
Thanks Nev for another interesting and informative update. The team are doing great with the build.

Kieth, his usually happy self. 😢

Thank you Neville, great update as usual. I'm looking forward to seeing the French parts being installed to see how compatible they will be. Will be interesting.
The French nose is on and it fittedCheers RY. well.
How much for the spot welder??? Talk about breaking the bank. An excellent start to 2024, and I wish the Rivet Club newsletter would arrive so that I can watch the Hanger Cam (Yes, I know, sad git alert 🤣 )
"I'm a sad git too" James.

Great video again thanks, quick question where did Keith and the team learn so much about the Lanc and its construction, so many nuggets of information?
Working for the RAF and at BBMF George
18:05 Never noticed the fire engine before. How is it funded and who man's it. Looks like a video all in itself! Cheers.
I think this was donated, they do have a full time Fire and Rescue crewe and volunteers at the centre CT.
Thanks again for another video. Could you ask the lads how they accurately drill holes into the aliminium please? I drilled 100's of holes in ali sheet, it's not easy to do accurately. Stay warm....DA.
Happy new year Nev , the jacket Dave is wearing can we purchase or are they only for staff..
I think they are ground crew only allan.
great video as usual Neville , somewhat ruined by the 6 blocks of ads endured in the watching though
Sorry mate.
Another awesome video. So interesting. It's just a shame that the engineers are held up by 3rd party companies.
Cheers Pepsicola.
Is there any company out there that would be able to loan a machine for the restoration of jane, and would that help keep the cost down just a thought ?
Nice video Neville thank you. I wonder if anyone can tell me, on the taxi runs, can someone book the ride if they walk with a stick? I have movement issues and wonder if I would be allowed in the taxi runs? Thanks in advance. 👍👍
I will check that out with Andrew, sorry I'm slow answering David.
when will all the restoration work be finished
At least another five years to go.
At least 7 more years Allan.
Guys, I understand Boeing are in need of some good airframe engineers to help make their 737-9s airworthy…
Anyone fancy a job?
If you could find the money to duplicate all the manufacturing, surely you could sell on ready made reman parts as airworthy new for other flying restorations. Make one ,do two , cover costs .
Good idea Curly, but not enough Lancasters being restored.
