Eremin's Yak-3 is A Completely Balanced and Fair Aircraft | War Thunder Air RB

- I know, I am a bit late to upload this, but here it is anyways :)
In today's video, I am flying out the new event vehicle that may be the new most overpowered 4.0 in the entire game. This plane gives the XP-50 a run for its money O_O
Steps to making Eremin's yak-3:
-Take a regular yak 3, and remove one of its 50 Cals (This does nothing)
-Put it at 4.0 BR, so it can face 3.0 aircraft (LMAO)
-You now have a 4.0 version of a plane that should be at 5.0 (Who thought this was a good idea!?!?)
Most of the gameplay besides the montage might not be that entertaining, as I am basically just flying around without much thought, mindlessly bullying enemy planes that shouldn't have to run into a 4.0 Yak-3.
Hope you guys enjoy :)

This thing is insane, i flew the 109 f4 at 4.0 and even gainst people that werent all that good in air rb flying the yak3e there was barely anything i could do against it. It is much faster especially at low alt, climbs 98% as good so if you start with equal energy it takes the f4 years to get a somewhat workeable advantage and the yak turns quite a lot better and stalls later too, there is almost 0 counterplay to it. And thats with the f4 that is really good at 4.0, if you try any other 4.0 planes or god forbit 3.0 or 3.3 planes it is absolutely hopeless, even mediocre players get 2+kd on this thing easily. Actually i am not even sure if the f4 even has a climb advantage at all.
They remove a gun to lower the BR to 4.0 and yet it still does more damage than 4 Hispanos on a Spitfire or Typhoon at 4.3-4.7
Huh no ????
Thank you guy for posting this !
Yak3P is literally the same plane but with more firepower at 5.3 . And that thing is very good at that BR as well.
5:17 - "Yeah, that's me. You probably wondering, how I ended up in this situation?"
Good flying, Mac. Honestly, it feels like my first mistake was to initially dive on you instead of slowly applying pressure. That was really bad angle. I would've died to your teammates, most likely, knowing their skill, but still) Yeah, next dive was a mistake. It's especially embarrassing, considering that I use basically same tactics while fighting 109s and 190s in yaks, and I should've knew that's not going to end up well... Actually, what I should've done in that scenario to kill you? It's almost impossible to hit a well flown yak 3.
I got frustrated being killed by multiple yaks that seemed to pull energy out of nowhere so i tried it out the other day. I felt dirty. The games were just press shift, hold s for pitch and point and click. They are wild lmao
loved the intro with the music
The funniest thing about this plane is that in the worst-case scenario (full uptier to 5.0), you face the planes that the 5.0 Yak-3P would face in the best-case scenario (full downtier to 4.0) while having slightly better performance and arguably equivalent guns.
I'm also quite sad that one of my favorite planes, the german Yak-1B, can face this monster when uptiered to 4.0 😢
Yea this plane is basically a 5.0 plane that was put at 4.0, the guns don’t even feel that different. I still don’t know what gaijin was thinking 🤦🏻♂️
@@MacWithGun What about the Yak-3 at 4.3? Basically the same as this plane, or does Eremin's have better engine?
@@leeham6230They are the same
When reviewing a plane, I would suggest flying it without a squad mate. Having a squad mate is such a force multiplier. Can make ordinary planes look real good. Like in one of the matches, if your squad mate didn’t warn you about a 190 behind you would have died and had a pretty ordinary game instead of an ace. Yes in this case your conclusion is not wrong but try without help from squad mates. Flying against multiple XP 50s flown by level 100 seal clubbers might water down your opinion a bit.
I agree that it is a force multiplier but consider that an interesting side to Mac's videos. It shows what everyone should aspire to do: cooperate. Now and again, it happens in a random way, and that makes for more enjoyment than even a good, lone dogfight. At least for me :)
xp50s or not…
it is a yak-3. go low and they have no chance. and at altitude you are on almost the same level…
War thunder, although it might not seem like it some times, is a team-based game, and having a squad mate who also knows what they are doing helps out a lot to win matches, but you do have a point.
It is also important to fly some matches solo just to show how the plane will perform without the presence of coordinating squadmates.
@@MacWithGunThere’s team play and then there’s mindlessly mowing down teams with a 4 man squad without having to put in any effort… lmao
the days a good day when mac posts
As a french hearing "paper maché" was really surprising !
The title made me laugh 😂
This, the standard Yak-3, and for that matter the Yak-9U should all be at 5.0. They just do so many things better than their current competition. Their combination of strengths also fit the meta of the game perfectly.
Also, I remember that match, I smoked the Ki-43's engine with .50 cal, and set him on fire with a 37 mm, so I went immediately to kill AI to stop the ticket bleed, only to realize too late that he was just fine and was going for ground targets. He still retained enough maneuverability to dodge the one shot I got on him.
Honestly the yak-9U could go to 5.3 and I’d have no issue at all, but yea all the yaks rn are way under tiered.
Yea the Ki-43 had no business putting that fire out, BS like that lost us the game on tickets, which was so annoying since we had 12 or 13 kills as a duo that game :(
@@MacWithGun yak 9U at 5.3 lmao dude
@@CREELAST it’d still be a good plane there, at 4.7 it is ridiculous
@@MacWithGun Meanwhile the XP-50 has been 4.0 for ages, that is ridiculous
@@CREELAST XP-50 being at 4.0 doesn't mean Yak-9U isn't ridiculous at 4.7, nor do we think it should stay at 4.0.
In my experience, the planes I find myself most comfortable fighting yak3s are the Spitfire F MkIX and F4U4 at 4.3.
Yea, planes with one advantage that you can reliably use to fight yaks are good
Mac, you mentioned the Ki-84 having reduced performance at higher altitudes.
Question is by how much? And how does the F4U-4B compare to it when above 3km?
The Ki-84 loses around 250 horsepower as it goes higher, and the 4B Corsair starts outperforming it around 3.5km and up, but the Corsair in general also isn’t the best at high altitude, and ki-84s are still dangerous either way.
@@MacWithGun thanks for the answer!
Side note: you're pretty much the reason I started to use stealth belts on the -4B, it's a shame I didn't see your channel sooner, but I subbed because you earned it.
BTW, I do climb to like 5k meters in the corsair every game, just so I wouldn't be as vulnerable to yaks (Ta 152's are another problem tho), I know I wouldn't stand a chance against a Ta, so I just run and extend for another head on pass, yaks a tricky to deal with tho.
Hey Mac can we have a video on the bf109 f2? It has a 15mm with decent damage and and more velocity than the 20mm, plus pretty good engine power for the br. Everyone sleeps on it imo.
Since the recent 15mm buff I am more inclined to fly it out now.
Maybe 🤔
Why is this plane good? Having one gun less, equals to more higher ptw ratio thus better acceleration, speed and top speed. Its a little faster compared to regular Yak3, but packs a little lower punch, but hey it's 4.0 br instead 4.3 and that is a huge difference, and on top of that its good credit maker with 300% sl reward. I was laughing when ppl were saying it will be worse than yak3 and its price will be 12 GE top at market. I can see this thing easily go for 30 GE maybe even 40 GE.
Damn, for a second I was thinking to buy it. But then I remembered I don't like OP vehicles and giving Gaijin money for some lazy copy&paste vehicle would be even worse 😂
@@kimjanek646 Can this plane be bought? I thought you had to earn it by playing, playing, playing..in that event...but...if it is possible to buy it, everyone will buy it.
@@kimjanek646You mean under BRed… If it is that good, it will likely go up in BR soon.
@@MrMrSpok you can actually buy it from other players, on the gaijin market
It doesn't climb at 300 kms/ ias at 20 degrees angle of attack.
The Bf 109g6 does 305kms/ias at 18 degrees.
Yea the g-6 is the lowest BR 109 that can outclimb the yak-3, and that is it’s only advantage, but being .7 BR Higher than this joke of a ‘balanced’ plane makes no sense.
last time I checked yak3 and yak 9 had the same engine
Idk, maybe the yak9T/K, but the yak3 airframe is far superior for general performance.
Engine is the same, but running on a late war setting, the only other Yak with the same exact engine performance is the premium Yak-9M, except that you can't use 100 octane fuel on it.
Plane is bonkers
Those early Japanese planes don't have self-sealing fuel tanks. So magically they will just completely spill all the fuel in the tank and then the fire goes out :3
It's kinda stupid 😅
It makes perfect sense!
(It doesn’t)
Not to "uhm ackhsually" but the Ki-43-II and -III should have self-sealing fuel tanks, though for some reason the -III Otsu doesn't have them according to the internal modules viewer in the hangar.
P51 turn-fighting anything that's not a literal brick is hilarious. Bad move on his part.
fyi, the regular yak 3 used to be 4.0 and the yak 9u 4.3
Yea but that was before Russian guns were buffed, and they were still pretty nasty at those BRs
The same gameplay designers at Gaijin in charge of making Warthunder fair and balanced are presently working on a first person shooter as we speak. But fyi, only the Russian team gets bullet proof vests! Like the Russians really needed another op vehicle in Warthunder. Now they have a 4.0 seal clubbing CAS plane to join the shell bouncing KV1s and T34s in ground RB. Go play USA ground forces at 4.0 BR and try to have fun. You will lose 8 out of 10 matches in 10 minutes or less against the Russians you shouldn’t even be fighting against in a WW2 game. The way they “balance” the game is sometimes the Russians and Germans are on your team and you win a few games so your stats say you are only losing 39% of the time as USA, but in most of those victories it’s usually level 20 players getting 7 kills in their KV1s that are carrying your team.
I also dont like some of the vehicles you face in ww2 tanks because of time period but it has nothing to do with russian bias. Its a problem forever old in this game; braindead little boys being seal clubbed because they know nothing about where to position or shoot. It should be extremely obvious but take for example this plane in the video, it doesnt matter that its a yak 3 at .3 lower, a level 20 wont know where to fly to or how to maneuver and they will miss alot in a plane that has very limited ammo. My brother started playing this game recently against my recommendation and ill literally fly the yak1 with him in 4.0 fw190s. Ill play bt5 at 3.0 with yak9b. Also theres literally no way youre going to complain about cas as a us 4.0, us cas its actually unreal at all brs 3.0 to 6.0. Whenever i play ground rb its only mid to late ww2 german or russian, us m10 or china 1.3.
For me its just a yak with ou one of his .50 lol
This thing has no guns. I as a potatoe struggle with regular yak 3 sometimes of how little ammo it has. Take of one Berezin, bro I don't care what performance that plane has, it has literally no armament. You, pros, find every good performing plane op, for me it would be useless and not fun at all.
i am yet again requesting a fw190 video
I’ll make one in the near future :)
@@MacWithGunyippee!!!!
Very blown out of proportion especially when you seal club worse players
In RB most that you need is some flight performance and especially good weapons+ ammo.
The yak3 doesn't really have weapons or ammo. It doesn't climb the fastest either.
F4 can 1v1 yak and win due to better thrust weight as well as out climb it
Is a good plane. Is it the best 4.0? I don't know
Never saw Corsairs as dangerous opponents in Yak-3, though maybe I never saw actually good corsair pilots? What's the point of having 6 50 cals if you can't hit with em? Well flown yak ls pretty damn hard to hit, it maintains it's energy really well and even single SHVAAK slaps really hard. Also, it actually climbs really well below like 3.5-4k. IMO, with 2 equally skilled pilots, I'll put my money on Yak.
Yak3 wins vs f-4 in a duel almost every time, and the yak-3 also out climbs the f-4 until 4.5km. The f-4 also overheats, so yaks win in prolonged fights.
Very scary aircraft, and besides the xp-50, I think it is the best 4.0 as of now.
The bf109f4 ofc
You get sone duels in 1v1 yak3 vs bf109f4 with merge. See how it goes. Switch planes. I used to fo duels in a clan and was getting beaten like that
@@okakokakiev787 damn, for some reason didn't even thought about it) But still pretty sure Yak wins, unless it makes some serious mistakes.
11:04 i really like your videos , but stop stealing kills , no wings , ther is no reason to shot. In other videos too.
@@Swordofsea the enemy is severely damaged, so if I finish the kill me and whoever severely damaged them both get the kill credit :)
