      LOL, JP I was thinking the same thing! LOL. Ive been washing my pads with dawn dish soap and a hose that comes off a Y to my washing machines hot water line. Been doing it this way for over a decade, and my pads look brand new NEARLY every time. The only time they dont look brand new is what I have been working on single stage. Heres my method:
      Put a Y on your hot water line and get a 4 foot hose from any hardware store.
      Make sure after you hook up the Y you reconnect the hot water for your washing machine. LOL
      The Y I use is the type that you can shut off and turn on to control the water.
      On the other end of the hose I have a multi option garden sprayer. The kind that you can switch to SHOWER, FLAT, STREAM. FULL, etc.
      I set it to flat
      If you have a laundry sink GREAT. Put a 5 gallon bucket in it to catch the water when cleaneing. If you dont have a laundry sink, thats fine. Get a 5 gallon bucket and clean your pads right in that. If not, use a 5 gallon bucket.
      Wet you pad down and squeeze a good amount of Dawn on the pad. I do one circle on the outside of the pad, and another on the inside.
      Using your hand you spread the soap around as much as possible, even spraying the pad with a QUICK spray of water just to get bubbles to spread.
      Work the soap into the pad with your thumbs for at least a minute. I even use my fingernails to scratch at microfiber pads and agitate the soap in more.
      Then take the hose with the adjustment on FLAT, and spray full strength into the center of the pad, slowly working your way to the outside, keeping the nozzle about 2 inches from the pad. You want it nice and close to that it works like a pressure washer. Then continue around the entire pad. I then dunk the pad in the bucket and squeeze the pad to get the hot water going in and out of the pad.
      Then dump the dirty water and continue the process until the pad is clean and all soap is OUT. Pay close attention to the very edges of the pads. Since you are spraying towards the edge, and ultimately OFF the pad, residue does tend to collect right on the edge. Just spray that edges the same exact way and its gone.
      Once you are dunking your CLEAN pad into CLEAN water and squeezing it with any soap coming out, your pad is done and looking fresh. Once you have set up your area, and leave it set up permanently, you will probably spend 3 minutes cleaning your average foam pad.
      Then squeeze all the water out, put the pad SECURELY on my buffer, and spin it at full speed while holing it over the top of a 5 gallon bucket. (Obviously the pad has to be somewhat IN the bucket in order for the bucket to catch all the water flying off.
      I have pieces of velcro stuck on the inside of my towel cabinet door. I simply stick my DAMP pads to the velcro and by morning they are completely dry.
      5 gallon bucket was about $5
      The Y i use is about $7
      Dawn dish soap is anywhere from $3-$7 depending on the size.
      Velcro is MAYBE $4
      So for around $20 you can have your pads FAR CLEANER, MUCH FASTER, and with WAY LESS water flying all over you. Or you could spend $200 on a 5 gallon bucket with and upside down fruitbowl in the middle, and wonder why you're soaked, and your pads are still filthy. LOL

    Man, 200 bucks for a pad washer, 25 bucks for a jar of pad rejuvenator. Might be a good combo for a pro that will get a return on the investment but the pricing kinda screws the driveway warrior.

    • @HawkProDetailing
      @HawkProDetailing  4 года назад +2

      For the driveway warrior, just stick to soaking your pad in bucket of all purpose cleaner and water. When you are ready throw pads in washer and then air dry. I use micro restore as my laundry detergent ...

    McKee's products are on the expensive side, but their Rejuvenator line is no joke. Both the Floor Mat and the Rubber Rejuvenator are absolutely incredible one of a kind products. Use them almost daily.
    Personally, I tried it but pad washers and water flooding just wasn't for me.. I clean my pads after every pass with a designated cleaner and brush and blow them out with compressed air and that's as wet as they get. I find I get the longest life and consistent performance sticking with that method, but to each their own, use what works for you. But I also dont use a lot of foam, I stick mostly with wool, urofiber, etc. and usually only use foam for finishing soft paint.
    Thanks for the video! 👍👌✌

    Wow, what a great way of cleaning pads. I wish the pad washer was cheaper because it is really effective with the McKeys powder to wash them. I have used the method most do on washing with APC and liquid soap thoroughly, then air dry and check if it really got cleaned, else repeat the process.
    Lots of respect to Mr. Yvan Lacroix who has a vast knowledge on organization use of machines and how he educates so easily, and you for your insightful knowledge on carpet cleaning. Love when detailers share knowledge since not a single person has all the answers because there are different approches to solve problems.
    Just detailing for 6 years and every time learning something new. Eager to learn everyday.

    • @HawkProDetailing
      @HawkProDetailing  4 года назад +1

      The only reason I might shy away from detail spray is that it has polymers/chemicals that will likely stay in your pad and change how the compound or polish is supposed to work. I would just soak them in a bucket of water and some all purpose cleaner if you have some, then when you are ready you can throw pads in the washer on low heat and air dry. Budget option that will work...

    The PH of Snappy Clean shows as 11.9.
    Isn't this just a powdered version of an APC? McKee's seems like the complete opposite of Optimum in that they have a million different specialist products. I don't have access to them in Australia so my opinion doesn't really matter, but it's a complete turn around for Yvan in terms of being efficient it seems.

    • @HawkProDetailing
      @HawkProDetailing  4 года назад +1

      Dang I didn't realize it was so high. Well optimum has been going through a lot of changes lately...I find that I especially love the pad washer on mobile jobs when compressed air isnt an option. I am curious to see how this works because with ONR/power clean/pad washer the pad would eventually "gunk up"

      @@HawkProDetailing oh I have no doubt it works and is great, but is it needed? I do love your videos and respect Yvan a lot, but I'm not sure about some of the recent McKee's stuff.

    • @LacroixCruiser

      Nicholas Blanch when using Optimum No Rinse(ONR) in the pad washer, you need to occasionally add an APC to the pad to break down the Clear Coat residue. Using this saves time.
