This is what I absolutely love about RUclips. 30 mins of long form content from Mike in his adventures to Italy. Nothing beats it! Well done Mike continue with it, cheers.
Best 30 minutes escape on RUclips for travel photography, little landscape, litte street and documentary !!! Thanks so much for taking us photos were beautiful!!! I need to get back to Italy 🇮🇹
27:30 funny, in 2009 my then girlfriend and I sat down at the very same place (recognize the fencing and cake) and she also picked up my camera to take the very one pic of me of that whole trip (same, bar Pisa). Siena (incl scooter trip to the tastings) and Rome are where I took my best pics. Yours are absolutely stunning. Cheers for the good Italia vibes on a rainy day :)
Posso immaginare, but if you are Born here... Your perception it's a Little bit different. È stato molto interessante vedere il suo punto di vista fotografico.
I am an old man (almost 57) :-) and have seen a lot of photographs but believe me I have rarely seen such fantastically beautiful photographs as yours. Love the video. Keep up the good work. a.k.a. Hank Bartlebooth
Loved every minute of the video. Beautiful photos, some of them show the kind of "laid back" lifestyle that Italian can have. On a "funny" note, you're British and said to want to live in the Tuscany countryside, I am Italian and want to live in England, seeing your photos taken in Rome made me realise (like if I haven't before) where I actually live (I am in Milan, I am referring to Italy). Sometimes I do it myself, just go out with my camera and fall in love with all the beautiful buildings we have here. Inspiring stuff. Thank you for sharing.
Florence may be my favourite European city. Had an amazing time there 7 years ago and that was before I became obsessed with photography. Would love to go back and take 1 million photos!
I will spend some time in Italy too this summer (Florence mainly). Think this video has finally convinced me to get a Leica Q3 and capture my trip as well. Timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Beautiful images as always!
This was great Mike! Although I started out mainly shooting street, I don’t shoot really any street anymore. It was great to see you shooting something different and capturing some excellent images.
I’ve just got back from Naples, it’s the polar opposite of the places you visited and for me has been one of the best street photography destinations I’ve ever visited. My Q3 survived the experience and I’d strongly recommend you go there!
The Saal digital collab as well! I was reminiscing during my time in Italy and then when I saw that it made me smile as that's exactly what I do after every trip also! great vid Mike,
The tower in Pewsum, Germany actually leans over more. Maybe worth a visit, but there's not much around. It's a touristic area anyway, but they try to preserve the regions character very well. You could go to Greetsiel and Pilsum along the way.
Great videos and lovely photos. I do understand Hannah's difficulty in focusing. I wear glasses and I am not sure I would manage to take sharp photos with the Leica M11. I have a manual focus Artisan lens, but I only used it once as more than 90% of the photos I took with it came out kind of blurry or not perfectly in focus. I loved the colours coming out of that lens though. Take care, Manu
Great video! Just a consideration about Saal Digital photo books, hoping it might be helpful for some! The book you showed seems to have waves (deformation) on the pages. This happens when the sheets of paper are bound without considering the orientation of the fibers. Because paper naturally tends to stretch, fibers must be oriented in the same direction of the binding, otherwise you’ll have deformation resulting sooner or later in the book breaking apart. I’m surprised this was their professional option: imagine relying on something like that for a wedding, for a client. Definitely not good!
Great video and wonderful images. Reminds me of my trip some years ago and I recognise so many of the same spots for picture taking. If you cant get good images from Florence, Rome, Sienna, Voltera etc - you aint a photographer!
Love the content! Photos are incredible. Ready to pack the bags and go back to Italy now. Always so beautiful and interesting to visit, even if it is busy with tourists. For coffee though, don't know where you're getting good coffee from in London, I haven't found a nice one yet aha. (Recommendations?) You need to come visit Melbourne (Aus) for some good local coffee 🙃
Very inspirational video Mike. I had sort of fallen out of love with photography but seeing your video capturing the Tuscan countryside (somewhere high on my list of places to visit) has put a spark back in me. So, thank you! BTW - what did you use to film the video with, GoPro?
Cool video, and excellent pictures! This reminds me of when my girlfriend and I went to Rome for the first time. I talked to the hotel concierge to get tips on what bike rental company to use, so we could cover more of the surface of Rome without using the bus and metro. She just looked me dead in the eye and asked "Do you want to die?!" So, we used buses and metro
Really enjoyed this video - it showed me how you can document a trip so well with just two focal lengths. I usually worrying about 'getting everything in' and need at least an 18mm APS-C focal length and preferably bring my 11-20mm APS-C wide angle lens too. But you captured the atmosphere of the trip and got some really compelling images with just two primes. Am I right in thinking the lenses were 28mm and 35mm on full frame, so 18mm and 23mm on APS-C?
What is the camera that you use for video especially the scene cutting the blueberry cheesecake? Your trip is wonderful. I hope to be back to Italy again soon.
The coffee is (mostly) perfect for me - you youngsters have been raised on light roast 3rd wave rubbish and don't know what the real deal should taste like. Proper espresso is very hard to find in the UK, despite the million coffee shops.
Bellissime foto, complimenti.
Is your Nostalgic negative recepie compatible with the X100VI? have you tried? because i read that the x100vi is different due by the blue chrome effect
Probably because you’re incapable of being sympathetic with people who want to enjoy something so well known that they’ve never experienced in person before
@@MikeChudley at that point in the video I seem to have understood that it was said that the Colosseum was built only to film the movie Gladiator. I hope it was an ironic phrase or that I misunderstood 😅 anyway, nice video, nice photos. As an Italian it was nice to see my country even if obviously visiting those cities of art with so little time only allows you to scratch the surface! I hope you can come back 😊

Yeaaaa this is the comment we wanna see. Thanks! ✌️
I never know how to make videos when on vacations with my girlfriend. This is an excellent example of how it’s done.
Also, really made me miss Italy.
Haha thanks! Glad you liked this ✌️

Great video , thanks. My wife has done a two week roaming vacation in Italy, looks like my turn next as she has offered to be my guide.
The photo of tourists holding up air is ace.

Le Tolfe of Siena... good choice ;) and the almond biscuit is called "ricciarelli"

100% with you Mike. Rome's my favourite city and like you was sorely disappointed by the coffee!
Another great video with many beautiful photos! Thank you for sharing this 😊
Very beautiful. I am now really tempted to book my flight to Italy.
Definitely recommend it

Beautiful, well done Mike

Great video and lovely locations. You have a great eye for photos and I’m desperate to convert almost every one of them into black and white!
Great video!

The Green Sauce = Pesto Sauce, which is just amazing! Fab video and Photographs :)
well pesto sauce is great then haha, the sandwich was 10/10
no palese, salsa verde is a meat condiment with anchovy, parsley, garlic, bread, vinegar, oil, pepper, caper. not pesto.

That's because Rome was built on seven hills. But I'm not even that sure could be safe, anyway we know that scooters like Vespa fits Rome!
😂😂😂
Time now to check out Verona and Venice.
I learn a lot of your video and showing how you framed the scene in a still image 👍
Excellent video Mike super laid back and lovely images ❤ If you want a coffee experience you should come over to Melbourne Australia 😉We do ok haha
amazing and calming
Really awesome Color’s from that m11, are these edited with a preset ? Or are they SOOC jpegs ?
Edited with my new presets! Dropping the new pack very soon. Just making some final tweaks

07:33 that's exactly ME 😂 nice video though 👏🏻
PS: Saal Digital are amazing and I often use them...
Great video again, Italy is great! How do you carry GoPro?
hello Mike! I'm from India.Your photography inspired me a lot. I watch ur videos on a regular basis. Visit India, when you get time.❤
Where did you stay exactly in the Tuscan countryside? Looks lovely.
we stayed at La Torre alle Tolfe :) it was stunning.
I would like to print a photobook but how do you actually prepare the photos in LR to send them to Sall digital ?
Hey, thanks for watching - could you be more specific? Dm me on IG if you like. I'll try and help.
Did you notice the Leica shop 20m from the bridge at Florence?
Yep! Popped in and had a look around :)

Not really a big difference between those two focal lengths... why did you choose those two?
They’re my favourite :)
Absolutely great photography, it's almost as if I am there in Italy. BTW did u shoot in mostly 28mm or 35mm?
Switched it up everyday. So probably an even split in the end
Whats the film sim you used here mike? Thanks
Not sure most Italians would agree with you on the coffee comment but what do they know! :D
I’m sure they wouldn’t either 😂
Hey Mike, I invite you to come on phototrip in Slovenia. 👍
that sounds fun.
its still mind-blowing to me that the colosseum had a f roof
Why is it I cringe at tourists when I go anywhere haha that Pisa bit with everyone doing the same pose is just the worst
Hot tip: if you close your eyes, you won't see it! Problem solved.
