  • In this week's guitar lesson, you'll learn how to play an acoustic blues with no other instrumentation other than a single drum track. Playing along with only a drum has many advantages (discussed in the video).

Brian this one is brilliant! I am so happy to be a subscriber for a couple years. Your courses gave me a foundation and this sort of stuff is icing on the cake.

I feel like your talking to me when you say " know you see it ? " light bulb moments lol. I'm right at that level now where a lot of your lessons are exactly what I need to hear. Use to watch you years ago then I got to that stuck point with doing just scales and cowboy cords. Now I'm just seeing things in a whole new light with triads, playing cord tones etc. Can't thank you enough!

Another Terrific lesson. Every time I watch your videos, I feel like the guitar knowledge door creeks open just a bit further. I don't know how else to explain it. Players all around certainly feel the same. Thanks Brian. I would have never came up with that five chord embellishment. Brilliant.

Great stuff here! The harmonized walk downs, the pattern 3 box on strings 6,5 &4 and the how it slides to pattern 4 with strings 4 &3! The turnaround is classic!

Thanks Brian, this is a fun lesson. I was first inclined to fingerpick it which does work well, and once I've got it down will work on hybrid picking it w/flatpick since that's one of my weaker skills. Great balance of muy stealable licks backed up with theory, as always. Understanding why something works is so darn important IMO - Mark

Another great track, looking forward to getting this one up to speed. I'm struggling to think of any constructive criticism! Last week's lesson was titled something like 'learn this to play like a pro..' which was a little clickbaity. Glad you've gone back to the usual simple straightforward title this week - just my taste, I dislike all these videos with silly titles like 'learn this one thing to MASTER the guitar!'

Brian's relieved you deem this week's title acceptable. He was greatly concerned about it. See how much weight he lost worrying??

Hi Brian, again a delicious one! 😐 didn’t see aaall of your videos, of course, but I would be curious to ear you talking about the « before the time / in the time/ after the time » notion of play… 🤓 Wish you the best. Please go on.

Such a good video can you do another one in the key of f with some double stops heading up the neck to the bb box and with the blues scale. I would like to know how do you manage adding lyrics and singing while playing and when do you focus on the fills and embellishments. I can’t seem to sing a different melody while playing, I tend to match the singing notes to the guitar notes I play

This has a great sound, Brian. Which guitar ya playin'?
The bass tone is great for this.
Love the idea of playin' with a drum track, too.
Actually never tried it, I'll usually add percussion by tapping or slapping the gee-tar.
Sometimes slappin' dem strings works, too!
    Anyhoo, thanks! As usual!
    👍 👌 🤪

I have tried to play and what you have shown is very helpful, but my problem is with using the pick, is there any kind of learning tool to help with using a pick. I am a former Bass player, but would love to learn to play blues guitar, any advice would be greatly appreciated

    • @ambroseharper8316
      @ambroseharper8316 2 месяца назад

The key to playing with a pick is to hold it between the thumb and first finger with only about one third (30%) of the pick showing. Attack the strings at roughly a right angle (90 degrees) and learn to pick using down AND up strokes. If you do a search on RUclips on holding guitar pick (or plectrum) correctly, I'm sure you'll get a ton of stuff 👍
