It's a very old CPU and I like it. I really wish it could still be used as the daily driver for a gamer. Surprisingly the Intel CPUs are lasting even longer. Like the i7 980x.
There are actually patches for some of the games that require missing instruction sets made by various modders (mostly Eastern Bloc), patching out the SSE requirements Intel SDE can also emulate some, but this normally isn't recommended, as it can be slow It's pretty amazing these things could be dropped into old DDR2 AM2 boards to bring them up to around Ivy Bridge/Sandy Bridge level! For a lot of people, they could have kept running on the same platform to even current day if tempering expectations. Still kicking myself for going the Core 2 route many years ago for a budget build instead of pushing a friend's AM2 board to the limit; having dug it out and upgraded it recently with one of these, Phenom would have been the better value path.
