I am going through this process right now, and did end up buy brand new as I don't want to trial and error with rebuilds I have another project I want to get to so I paid 12k for the brand new transmission shipped from Germany and was on back order and going to be 15k with the install
Okay, so what you need to do is find a good independent VW/Audi mechanic. There are a ton of these transmissions around now. Also, I had a “gearbox malfunction” message and I DID fix the mechatronic issue and it fixed the problem. Sounds like this shop may be trying to take you for a ride.
@@LarrypopthehoodYeah it’s good to shop around and once you find a shop you trust continue to get literally everything done there so they become familiar with the car and you as a customer. I had a stage one tune right from the car being new and it ran like a champ. I did oil changes every 5000k and never skip maintenance intervals. If you find you’re driving so much that you are hitting maintenance requirements frequently consider buying a junker car for daily driving or even consider selling the car if it doesn’t currently fit your budget. These are great cars but they don’t tolerate skipped maintenance. Happy motoring my friend and I hope you get your ride sorted soon!
